So my water pump bearings are going bad, so since I am changing that I was going to replace the thermostat. After reviewing threads I know to get a 195 thermostat, and as suggested in a Old thread looking for a OEM but I have not been able to fine one. The ones I have found at local parts store, none have the hole/needle. Can/should I drill a hole? Any suggestions on finding a OEM? Thanks, Whiz

So the base on my truck antenna is cracked. I thought about it when I was at the salvage yard and tried to pull one and could not figure out how to get it off and had no idea what I was doing. It is a easy process?

I got mine at RockAuto as well. Have not installed yet though.

Rear Windshield Gasket Where can I find one
Whiz replied to gai092460's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have a gasket that I just took out 2 weeks ago... I am not sure it is in perfect condition but seemed like I got it out with little damage. I installed a new rear as my middle window was broken, with with the CRL window that doesn't use a gasket. I would be willing to part with it, I know they are highly sought after so I tried to be careful in taking it out and holding on too it. -
So I bought one of the CRL rear sliders. I called a Mobile window shop to install, who agreed they would install the rear window but would not have any warranty. Deal!! So they guy showed up last week. Looked at my rear window and the new one in the box, and said I am not even messing with that. Refused to do it. He talked to be for a good 30 mins, telling me how CRL windows suck and they never fit like they should. I explained that I had few options for rear windows. In the end, he said if I take out the rear window, clean it all up (removed adhesive), make sure new window sits flush. Then he would install it.

Windshield Replacement options
Whiz replied to skidoo_j's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Having windshield replaced tomorrow, I called several places, and best price I got was $226. Mine will be tinted as I was told the clear was unavailable. -
Well I am fairly convinced it is a wiring issue somewhere, obviously. For now, I have discounted the wire to the lights that connects to the Door Jamb and just manually turn the lights on. Felt I had wasted enough time on them already.
-
As far as wiring, I followed other post, connected the black/white wire in the middle.
-
Yes and no, I disconnected the Pass light after lights would not turn off. Drivers side then would not turn off, even after opening and closing door.
-
St8, I made sure of that and double checked more than once., and that the light swtich was not turned to have light on as well.
-
So I am still trying to get my dome lights to turn off when door closes. When I unplug both Door Jamb switches, shouldn't the lights go out? Well mine did not. I purchased a new Switch for drivers side, they only had one. Installed it, worked right away. I had unplugged pass side light so I plugged it back in and then back to lights won't go out. Sigh. I felt confident it was the driver side switch as sometimes it would work, and at times closing door partially worked. But not consistent. Anything else I should be looking at?

I have a issues with my Lights after I installed the Eurmatec B pillar lights. After installing they do not go out. I took out the Door Jambs and cleaned them up, and it will work sometimes. In fact, there are times when I slightly close the door and the light goes off, but then when I fully close the door it comes back on. I have to believe it is the switch, but they seem simple. Hopefully, new ones will solve my issue.

Installed Headlight Harness, no Highbeams
Whiz replied to Whiz's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thank you Hornbrod. I used a meter, and the Headlamp itself was bad. I had bought new ones so ofcourse assumed they were good. Put old one in and works fine. Simple fix, Greatly appreciate it. -

I have a meter, but don't know much about using them. But will give it a shot. Thanks! -
Forgive me if this issue has happened before and been addressed. I did search for it. Installed the Putco Headlight Harness, cleaned the paint off for grounds, made sure everything is connected good. Followed Cruisers instructions. Low beams work fine. When I turn on High beams the blue light comes on in the dash. the passenger side light comes on the no light on Drivers side. I checked the fuse and it looks intact. Am I missing something? High beams did work before install.

Anyone close to Atlanta? Need some help.
Whiz replied to crs88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Chuck, I would be willing to help you out, but I have minimal mech skills myself, and have never completed that task. I also live South of ATL, not free for 2 weekends, willing to help a weekday after work. I am not the closest, and you might have better options. -
Thanks!

Hood insulation/retainers conclusions
Whiz replied to 87mjdriver's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Congrats on Chief, welcome to the Mess, and hope Astoria is where you wanted to go. I retired SKC. Spent all my career East Coast. -
Looks great. Where did you get that Decal? I want! :)

LOL greasy old chain smokers :rotf: I am going to have my Windshield replaced, but wanting to find a place that will re-seal the rear at the same time without replacing since I want to keep the OEM slider I have. For about 24hrs I was thinking I would just do the rear myself, but other comments I have read talked me out of it.

I may have to go search for a Hood pad... Side note MJDriver, are you still active in the CG? I retired 2 years ago! -
I considering resealing my rear window as well. I called several auto glass places and non of them want to touch it unless I am installing a New window. Same for my windshield that also needs to be resealed, but it isnt cracked or broken.
-
Looking good!! I have fuel filter change on my list as well. The connections on mine actually look very close to how your is and also thought that can't be factory.

Thanks for the info.. Now I am thinking I may just use a Bed-liner. I just don't want carpet. Have not gotten much done in the last few weeks. I have brushed and hammered the floor board more and found the holes/rust to be a little more than initially though but still not horrible. In the works of setting up some welding work for that. Wanted to get Windshield resealed but no company will just reseal, have to replace the windshield. I am still waiting on my Battery Cables to come in, Ordered a few weeks ago now, seems Jon has had a lot going on and is a bit backed up. Hoping that arrives by Friday so I can change the cables and work on the rest of Cruisers top 5. This weekend I did change out a front Wheel stud that was broken, sorry no pics. Wasn't that hard to do, also have one to replace on a rear wheel, that I hope isn't much more of a challenge.
