I assume you mean two outlets on same circuit. Low voltage indicates poor connection. In this case, poor conductivity to hot.
-
The wire attached to the boxes should be ok. Is it bare and part of the jacketed cable also containing the black, hot, and white neutral? Or is it a separate wire that is green? Possibly white. If part of the cable it should run to the panel. If separate, jackleg probably grounded it to cold water pipe.
-
Most likely the stove is providing the ground to panel. The problem is at one of the wall outlets. Are the wall outlet boxes made of metal (conductive) or bakelite? If metal, the hot line is touching the box. Hopefully, you cleaned motar from inside the box. Did you pull outlet out of box during your project? If so, when you put it back in the box, the hot lead might be in contact with the box. Check for that. If that is not case, the hot wire may have a bare spot on the hot where it enters the box and is providing current to the box

Do you mean the parking brake mechanism is locked? Pedal to the floor? Release cable broken. I released mine with a screw driver at right point in the mrchanism, but a word of caution: the foot pedal releases with enough force to break your arm. Keep hand and arm out of the way of the pedal.

Speedometer cable housing (cover)
Manche757 replied to Manche757's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Cable needs replacing also but mechanic said he could get that. Maybe the housing/cover/guide comes with it? -
I just had a/c added to an 89 MJ, 4.0 that never had ac. In the process of removing dash, the speedometer cable housing that the cable runs through crumbled from age. Mechanics can not find a new one from suppliers. Does anyone know where to get a new one?

Touche Alexia. Truck art. Stimulates controversy. Did you notice the side topper windows will have to be opened to drive it?

Don had an uncanny knack for coming up with parts numbers, picture and diagrams quick as a flash. It would be helpful if those were grouped separately for quick reference. Call it the Hornbrod Library of Catalogs and Manuals.

how many miles on your truck's factory engine?
Manche757 replied to Pete M's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Is Dvitha still around? He could win the mileage contest - 672,000 - on one of his MJs back when. -
The dashboard handle and release cable is not the same as the XJ. I did not see Comanche listed. You found it for a MJ?
-
Anyone have some or all of this?
-
I found the things listed above but thanks for letting me, and others, know that you have the parts needed to add factory a/c to a MJ that never had a/c. I dropped the truck off this morning to have it installed. You should list what you have in "for sale" as the parts needed to add factory a/c. A couple of other things you might want to add to your package: If there was no a/c to begin with, there are two idler pulleys. The higher one on the passenger side will be removed and replaced by the compressor. The compressor will need a mounting bracket. I do not know if the idler pulley uses the same mounting bracket or not. I bought the mounting bracket from the same CC member that I got the other parts from. I do not want to get midstream and find out that the holes don't line up. You might check to see that the blend door moves freely. Also the rubber tubing that operates the mechanism will be needed. The wiring harness will be needed also. Someone on CC wisely said he pulled the wires needed and didn't use the whole harness because after a few years in the junkyard, all the wires might not make good connection which would add confusion to the process. Putting in a/c will be happy money to spend if you live where summers are hot and humid. I had a/c replaced on a different MJ last year but since it had a/c in the beginning, the junker parts were not needed. I used all new a/c parts for everything else. I also had the heater core replaced while having the dash open.

Hey Bo, next time you work on the '48, cool off first. It looks like you were mad at the truck.

The sound of yesteryear. Nice throaty sound of a V8. Ragged idle when the engine is tuned for high performance.

There is a serious lack of pictures going on.

Retainer for shifter boot
Manche757 replied to Manche757's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I see you are from AZ. Does the boot keep the rattle snakes out in the summer? -
Retainer for shifter boot
Manche757 replied to Manche757's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for that. I failed to note that I am looking for an 87MJ and and 89MJ. Both 5 speed, 4.0. The part for number given is for 97-04. But you did get me pointed in the right direction. -
Retainer for shifter boot
Manche757 replied to Manche757's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
After looking at the pics, I took a closer look at mine and there is no ring but a lip on the mini-console is broken off. I don't know if the part will work but how wrong can you go for $4.99. Would like to get it closed up before slithering reptiles of summer find a way in. -
The plastic retainer that holds the bottom of the boot around the shifter is pretty unsubstantial. Has any clever person made one out of stiff wire or something that will hold up better than 30 year old plastic? Just bought 2 new boots online for $10 each but no retainer.

Are you looking to sell you tan interior trim pieces?
-
Now, that is interesting. I had to look up what a banana slug is. Ariolimax . A slug for a mascot? Now that takes a moment to get my head around. Thanks for the connector identification.
-
Do you have a pic of the connectors that would be on the lights for an 87 MJ and an 89MJ? I have wondered about your name. Fiat slug suggest that you really, really like Fiats especially an 87 in particular. Fiats Lug suggest you are a huge musclehead dragging around excess muscle that likes Fiats. Either on target?

If light emitting diodes take 1/5 the power, is the relay worthwhile if you switch to LEDs? Where is Ohm?
