Steering pull question
Exxon Valdez Jeep replied to MJRemi's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
did he replace the blown tire? Cuz if not, it would definately pull still. and I would negotiate for a spare or replacement in the price if not. -

well it looks like the "new" transmission I picked up is a NV3550. Guess there are worse mistakes to be made in life ;)- 78 replies

I looked in Texas for a couple months and bought the first AX15 I found under $500, its taken me 3 months of searching up here for the same thing! Just to get one with under 100k on it was rediculous! With as many wranglers and XJs that run these things, I thought they would be everywhere. I was about to do an auto swap but I was trying to avoid that! On the street I love them, havent had a chance to get them off road yet. I'm going to get them siped before it starts snowing here (probably in about 4 weeks  ) They are super quiet but only have about 2k on them. The shocks are valved super stiff, but its not harsh, dunno the numbers but I like them.- 78 replies

Had a line on a new 6 speed with 200 miles on it, but it sold on ebay before I could make it to the guys house! :( picked up an AX15 from a 99 Tj tonight, ordered the braided stainless clutch line and fittings. I'll be swapping that in this week so that I could actually drive it now! I miss my truck! then its on to bumpers and sliders and all the other fabricating goodies!- 78 replies

arent the police package XJs column mount? I know it would be a PITA to find one of those cluster but if they have them, then surely there is a 91+ setup for the column shift indicator (or even a cluster) -

yeah, its all 1 3/4. My cousin and I split the cost on the bender and die so we had to agree on a common size. I did tube bumpers and stuff too and personal preference just wanted 1.75 tube. I'm going to cage my MJ probably next year, I just couldnt believe how much it stiffened up the unibody on the XJ and I feel so much better wheeling it. Without some sort of hybrid cage, basically any actual roll (not flop) would destroy our rigs and all the work starts over swapping stuff to a new jeep. Now I feel like it has a fighting chance of surviving my bad driving!!!! -
Knuckle/Hub Differences
Exxon Valdez Jeep replied to flint54's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Rotors and unit bearings have to be the same year/style, as each other calipers and knuckles have to be the same year/ style as each other I have a 99 HP housing with 2001 knuckles and calipers, and 91 unit bearings and rotors. -

you running the A pillars through the front fenders and down to the rock rails? If so, tie it into the door hinges and the cowl as much as possible. Thats what I did on my XJ and I skipped the piece of tube running across the bottom of the windshield. It looks alot cleaner to me that way and being tied into the cowl, door hinges, and rockrails, it won't go anywhere. IDK if you are doing a roof halo or how much interior cage you're doing but here's some pics of mine... I'm sure you have your own ideas that will look good... I know the 97+ hinges are alittle different I think each one of those A pillars had 4 bends in it, but sitting inside the jeep, you can't even see them. obviously, mine doesnt have a bed so you're on your own there! Keep it nice and tight and tie into the body anywhere possible. -
