The .22 was only to familiarize her with weapons, she has basically no experience whatsoever. I wouldn't trust a .22 for protection any day. Unfortunately, she did not set the alarm this time & there were no forced entry signs. The only thing that keyed her off was the fact that every single light in the house was on. Also, i had Brinks for a short time & was not impressed with their service, as i personally had set off the alarm as well as my wife (accidentally) not only was there no call, there was no cops. I called them to find out WTF & they said there was no alarm event & no problem with my system. I dropped them quick (waste of money) we still have the alarm, it's just not connected to the mother ship.

:agree: At least as a temporary fix...

I've always been a dog person too, but i only have .2 acre, not much room for Fido to run & play & since i generally work 12hr days six days a week obedience training becomes an issue too. This is really a tough spot for us without an easy fix... :(

Thanks guys for all your great opinions, i wanted some different viewpoints & you guys supplied them with with a calm clear-headed approach. It's very much appreciated. I'll give a little more background here & hopefully a little better picture of what the situation is. First off i grew up in the country & my father was a gun trader. I spent a lot of time in the woods & always carried my Mossberg 500 12 gauge & usually my 1911 colt. That was not due to a worry about what kind of people were lurking about, more due to the black bears, coyotes, & wild dogs that didn't like me in their territory. I am a gun person & have no inhibitions about using them to protect my family; however due to a falling out with my family when i went to college i lost access to my guns & haven't had the money to replace them until now. My wife is not a gun person, & has not grown up around them, the last time (only time) she shot was with me when we were teenagers. She was the one who approached me for a weapon, after seeing some of the opinions on here i have my doubts about her willingness to use it. What i originally had in mind was the P22 to get her started, with lots of gun range practice, that gun would NOT be used for protection, only to familiarize her to pistols. After that i was thinking a 9mm with a concealed permit, but i suppose i might be getting ahead of myself, because she really is a tender-hearted petite person (the shot gun pictured above is for me only). The only thing that might lead me to believe she would use a weapon is to protect the kids... Moving is not an option just yet, i've owned this house for around five years & never had a problem, but when my company moved me to Vegas i rented the house (about a year), i can't be certain a key wasn't given away. Also, i'm a bit specialized in my work & wherever i move would be at least very near to a large city... Thanks again for the responses. :waving:

Okay, A couple days ago my wife calls me frantically saying that when she got home from the store every single light was on in the house. She's a bit of a penny pincher, so not something she would do (plus, who leaves every light on in the house during the day?). I told her to call 911 & i came home from work (beating the cops). I searched the house & couldn't find anything missing or in any worse order than it already was, no forced entry either. We just moved back from Vegas, so i'm thinking there maybe a weirdo with a key. Now i'm changing all the locks & going to get the wife a gun she can use. I want to get her a Walther P22 to start & maybe a Beretta 9MM later on with a concealed carry permit. Any suggestions? Also, this is what i'm getting myself... http://www.mossberg.com/images/Mossberg_Guns/930/New/50771.jpg

Cool thanks, Mine does have the plastic caps, & it's obviously been replaced as the fill spout is rubbing on the air intake... Sorry no pics, but it's too cold outside.. ;)

Well, i just searched the Koyorad website & the P/N is for a automatic trany; although i didn't think there was any difference. I thought that picture was rather dubious...

Is it worth it?? Mine seems to be ok, but i'm considering a rebuild & would like to replace the radiator at the same time. $65 http://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/pts/1513080234.html

:agree: Needs smaller tires, but otherwise that thang is schweet. I don't think they're asking too much. It's more than I could spend for it, but it's not a bad price. What would a new Chebbie cost ya? Hmmm, i really was thinking that it was too much money because of the drive train, a 4.2, auto & 35" tires would be a dog in such a large truck. (Gearing aside) Plus, i gave 3k a few years ago for my J10 with a 360 4 speed with 52k on the ticker in as good of condition...

Here's a rust free J10 that they want entirely too much money for, but i like it because it's the same color as my old one... 4.2 Auto http://www.davisautosales.com/windowsticker.php?UniqueID=1JTCE26N2CT058397

Just for curiosity, why would you carry tape meant for temporary patches on aluminum-skinned aircraft? :hmm: I carry a cheapo target metric& standard mixed tool set, that way if it's stolen it doesn't hurt nearly as bad as the Snappy tools. ;)

I was thinking J truck as well, but i don't THINK they put D30's in the front of those... CJ?

It also has the four piece rear glass. Isn't that an aftermarket? I thought all the OE rear windows were either one piece or three... -
Me too. All my work orders at work have started with "MJ" this year...Its been a great year. :brows:

:hijack: Why not internet radio? I use Pandora exclusively & love it. There are some DVR's that can get it & a lot of smart phones do too. Plus, it is $36 for a years' subscription, if you manage to go past the first 40 free hours / month... :typing:

My dirt stock Hyundai has a red line of 7500 RPM. So, i imagine a little tuning could have it go bit higher. Anyone want to "tune" a Hyundai?... Not likely. :rotfl2:

You mean varnish?:) Like Pete said, make sure you are getting spark and fuel first. Did you replace the fuel filter as well? -

Shellacked (sp?) fuel can do very bad things to the system. Better check all your lines & replace your injectors. Also, before doing that, are you getting spark?? -
Maintenance Required Light?
Dave Stark replied to Jeepcom23's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The '91 & 92 HO's do not have a mechanical timer, it is actually integrated into the on-board computer. The only way to get it reset is to have a shop do it that has the OBD1 scanner. It serves no purpose in the functionality of the truck (in other words pull the bulb it will save you time & money). Do not confuse the Maintenance required light with the check engine light: Maintenance required light is only the O2 sensor timer. Check engine light means you have a problem that can actually affect the operation of the vehicle. -
:agree: I would tell them not to touch the thing & do the repairs myself, even if the new parts do not come with it. $600 for a truck with a good body is a very good price & you can still drive it home with a valve cover leak.
