    MPG Check

I decided to check out the mpg out on liltte old red my 89 manche ( 2,5L 4 speed manual 2wd) to see what my average is with no mods done to it( besides minor things oli change, air filter, brakes) the basic maint. I am useing is (mileage at next fill up - the milageat full tank /how much i filled up at this refill) and all are dated to see the deration between fillups. 1. 06/'28/14 mile 117624.9 (let the games begin) 2. 07/05/14 CM 117746.6 gallons of gas 6.266 -117624.9 =121.7 /6.266= 19.4 mpg 3.07/08/14 Current Miles 117931.4 gas 8.725 GL -117746.6 =184.8 /8.725=21.18 mpg 4.07/15/14 CM 118131.1 gas 10.216 gl -117931.4 =199.7/10.216= 19.55 mpg 5. 7/21/14 cm 118310.0 gas 8.760 -118131.1 =178.9/8.760=20.4 mpg 6. 7/28/14 CM 118478,4 gas 9.496 -118310.0 =168.4/9.496= 17.73 MPG (ouch) 7.08/06/14 cm 118636.0 gas 8.462 -118478.4 =157.6/8.462=18.62mpg not bad for a 25 year old jeep for a one month test run . :MJ 1: . red is still trucking along till she dies or find one to replace my DD. so ask your self hows your mpg stack up?
  3. when the last time you check the flow of the radatior ot see if it not cloged up the simple test is to flush with a gallon of water at the top and see how long it reaches bottem if it not free flowing thares your porblem
  4. one for now just my litte red. might have a big brother and/or twin soon depending on job . it just keep on trucking . :MJ 1: .
  5. 6 cylinder auto trans.would be the normal to find this cluster than a 4 cylinder probably early years 86-89 with a gm spedo cable connection. the 90-95 used a different color lay out but kept the gm cable and wire setup same, but i will work with both engines just make sure to change the sensors from the dummy light to variable current. all the wiring for the (sensor) swap is their just need to find them
  6. did that for my 88 Cherokee before I sold it. had two sets made for just that case.didn't had the money at the time(at first). so i swap the door cylinder on the passenger side of my 89 MJ with the driver side of my 88. then I swapped them back when I got the keys made.

  8. IT lives to ride again. ICM was the trouble maker. after a 7sec. crank I herd a hint of life put the petal to the floor and tried again and she rev up. best sound you can hear is the symphony of the 2.5 run like a champ. Now it time for a victory beer :rock on:
  9. solved one issue ICM is bad coil is good have it by tomorrow cleaned off the ground wire don't see any bad spots cleaned off the distributor cap. check all the plugs and wires no faults useing a dummy light tester and battery to see if theirs any other issues
  10. go out to start my red jeep keep cranking it no start. check for fuel, spark and compression. have fuel, spark is weak, and low compression 1 ,2,3.having the coil and ICM check out tomarrow, but beside that what could be my issue? :hmm: 125K on the moter.
  11. I hit the sweet spot going up to Dundee,MI the mpg spike up to 26.4 MPG average highway that trip O.O i had to run the number three times to be sure all came up the same. not bad form a trip from toledo,OH to Dundee,MI with little red average speed was 65-70 :driving:
  12. if you still have a jeep manual fallow the rule 60/40 when towing having a old boat Lincoln on a 4 ton trailer with my dads old GMC if you don't have most of the weight forward on the trailer you will git what the video show "fish tailing" that was no fun but got home in one peace. going with U haul would be the better option for a Cherokee to haul. If you have a bigger truck that you can git your hands on best to haul with trailer. a dolly is better for FWD but if you have no choice a dolly is still and option.
  13. the one thing my father taught me (RIP) use old film caster a good for storing spare fuses if you ever pop one on the trail and it dosen't hurt to have a small mobile tool box on hand with tow strap also if not to help yourself for those who are prone to gitting in trouble (my sister & her ex's)
  14. 89 2.5l 2wd 100k 4speed manual. few scrap runs with home made trailer, several full loads of stone and one over load of stone (close to 3/4 vary uneasy that day) all up hill in a quarry I LOL at some of those days. the nubes at the quarry with full dump tucks trying to git up hill and stalls goes back down to the bottom to start aging thay wave me to go i drop into first and up the hill i go with no trouble (even with the 3/4 ton load)and have them scratch their head asking how the hell did he do it, and moving the 4 ton trailer around in the yard (empty). i had people question how power full my lil jeep is but in the end they want one for themselves :driving: . :MJ 1: .
  15. looks like a bit more work then welding but you have more room adjustments if the door is having issues so it be worth it. The pache weld i did is failing so this would be the better way to go.    . :MJ 1: .
