  1. I got some done on the Jeep today, Installed the new PCV Grommets and attempted to install the new door lock cylinders but came across a problem. The Instructions are very limited and do not say what tool I need to remove the door clip. Can someone please tell me how to get the old door lock cylinder out and the new one in? Tomorrow morning taking my alternator to Napa to have it checked out, if its good to go then I can fire the engine up when I install it! So I am pretty happy with that, and my Mom told me they replaced the stock fuel tank with a bigger one. I have not gotten a good look at it yet but it looks pretty big. So thats nice, I just hope its all hooked up correctly. Some tips I learned; When installing a new radiator hose and you cannot put the clip in place because it rubs against the water pump hoses' clip, simple remove the water outlets two bolts but be careful not to let the thermostat fall while you install the clip for the radiator hose. It should install right back into place. Hope you like the pics. :-)
  2. Hey everyone, have an update for you today and some more pictures. Today I installed the new United Ignition tune up kit but could not proceed with installing the new spark plugs because I didn't have the right size socket for it. So it will have to wait till later today when I get money and I'll just go buy a new one from Napa. Warm sunny day here in Jax The old Some cool pics of underneath. Comanche comes with a lake! Hopefully I'll be back soon with more pics and progress.
  3. sorry for the lack of pictures, my head has been elsewhere because one of my dogs passed. Things are looking good for the Jeep rather, I got all the parts today and plan to work on the jeep all friday when I'm off work. Got my work cut out for me now... hoping and praying for sun on friday.
  4. I almost have my jeep finished and it's been sitting for 6 years, So I am planning out what Civic I want to buy for my new car project. I would like to build a fast tuner civic, complete with all racing aftermarket parts. It will take the jeeps place and sit for along time because I plan on learning alot with this car in the whole process of building it up custom. I joined this one civic forum site and made a post seeing which model civics were good to go for tuning up like that. Anyway its exciting and I look forward to working on the Jeep and the Civic and my 99 Buick Lesabre. I got a M90 super charger off craigslist for 60 bucks, its clean and good to go. I have lots of other things to pickup before I go threw with that whole process, the buick needs a new stiffer suspension. For now the buick is my daily driver and runs beautiful, would like to keep it like that until i get a civic in the jeeps place, then I can use the jeep as my daily while i work on all three! Think I'm gonna need to get a bigger driveway.......
  5. could be a virus, i would try what gogmorgo said and then if you have Ccleaner, run it. Other then that make sure your posting the right link in the correct format supported by this website. A random event crash like that could be caused by any number of things. If it worked in the past, I would trace my steps back to anything I might have installed recently or any major changes I made to my computer. That may be a good place to start if the problem continues.
  6. thats a lot of lumber!

  8. Just got back from napa with some new parts. Champion Copper core spark plugs Air filter Napa Silver oil filter new battery and an alternator also picked up 5 quarts of 10w-30 some 50/50 coolant Its raining pretty good here at the moment so I might wait and see what tomorrow is like. I will have some new pictures up soon, and perhaps a video of its first start up in 6 years. I also ordered the UNITED IGNITION WIRE Tune up kit from http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1145043&cc=1179839 major props to onlyinajeep726 for recommending me those spark plugs and that tune up kit.
  9. This photo does not belong to me. It is just an example. The one in my 89 Comanche turned to dust and I need a replacement but don't know what the hose is called. It hooks up to the airbox and an outlet beneath the exhaust manifold.
  10. Took the idler pully back to napa and got the right one installed. Next I wait until my return comes in, then I'll be getting this up and running.
  11. Update: Took the old alternator out, will have pics tomorrow. It's in rough condition and makes bad noises when I spin the fan thing, Also I think the hose I need that hooks up to the air filter housing is called the heated air hose. Can someone confirm possibly? Thanks for the help and support
  12. I have been looking at wheel/tire sets on craigslist and was wondering if this would fit my jeep comanche. http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/pts/4269570596.html I'm having trouble finding what wheels fit the right bolt patterns, and i don't know how to tell if the tire itself is to big for the jeep with no aftermarker lift. Can someone please give me a little guidance. These wheels/tires are only temporary, I just need to get something on it so it can drive. Thanks. these are for a 89 jeep comanche sport truck
  13. I will be building a lift off this guide most likely, good stuff!
  14. I feel I could move further along with my Jeep project if there was a live chat outside of websites shoutbox that I could ask experienced Comanche enthusiast simple questions about my jeep. I feel this would help the community, if it doesn't already exist ( i just joined here ) , then i think the website should look into that. Thanks!
  15. you have been very helpful, I'll put this advice to the test tomorrow before work, although flushing the engine will have to wait until I get a new alternator and battery.
  16. Thanks that's a start! here are some pics. Oh yeah, couldn't have got this far without one, ill look into a shop manual tho. Thanks! The truck was my moms, it ran great until the alternator went out, and no one replaced it until I moved back to FL and started rebuilding the Jeep, inspecting and replacing old stuff, like hoses ect.. I actually have a project thread here. http://comancheclub.com/topic/41707-my-89-comanche-project/ I will have to add that to my sig I guess. Where is the petcock and where on the radiator neck do I add the hose. Can you MS paint circle the stuff in my pics for me please? Thanks everyone for your input!
  17. I wanted to know what all could and or needs to be flushed on an 89 jeep comanche thats been sitting for 6 years. What fluids need replacing that sort of thing, I just want to make sure when She's ready to start, everything is good to go. I also need to know how to do it, pictures and video would be a great help, as well as any diagram. Thanks very much, I hope to get some work done on it tomorrow.
  18. this sold for under 9 grand in auction in 2010. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njclxgu3-dE
  19. I want to do this to my jeep one day, very nice work. Sight to see!
  20. I don't know any better, but I'll take that into consideration. I'm going to take that idler back to napa because the guy ordered the wrong part. I originally wrote down a Gates model grooved idler pully. I will buy a smooth one, I had a brain fart because for some reason when I took the belt off I thought to my self that the belt went over the pully and not under it. Anyway, glad that's sorted out and I can fix it. Thanks!
  21. I used to live in Hot Springs, lots of fun stuff there.
  22. This truck is inspiring.
  23. Alrighty, thanks for the feedback, tips and warm welcomes. Off to a good start on this forum, right on! I took some pictures for today to post for your viewing pleasure. Here we go! Interior is clean, minor dashboard damage in under glovebox compartment. All washed and pretty Wind Deflector back on That right rear wheel hub needs work, has a broken lug bolt. almost back together, but stopped because I still need to replace lower intake hose for the air filter. 138,370 - not bad! :-) Oversized steering wheel covers keeps my hands from getting sticky, wheel needs to be wrapped. Nice and clean! Upper Radiator hose needs to go! whoever "tried" fixing the jeep before left a mess of wires. Been real fun trying to clean that up. Can see the new water outlet and P/S pully This is an issue I'm having with the spacer for the idler pully On the new one it rubs against the plastic? on the old there is a nice gap. Any help getting the new idler pully on would be nice, thanks! edit: I ordered the wrong pully threw Napa, that's how we learn folks! Next update I will let you all know how installing the new alternator and battery went. Soon after, once old fluids are drained, new ones are in, I will try to turn the engine over a couple times and start it!
