  1. poor jeep, wish you the best! glad your ok
  2. goodluck with your jeep! gotta love that rust!
  3. Its been 2 months since I was on here, been real busy getting the house in shape and researching colleges. I quit my job so I have to put what money I have to bills right now until I find something else. I just came inside from checking on the jeep, everything is really clean. I installed a stereo and had to find the pigtail diagrams and figure where each cable went. I used butt connecters and heat shrink and it looks very clean and works great! I put jumpers on the jeep from my car and put some fresh gas in the tank. The starter is trying to get the thing running but I still think its the fuel pump, there simply isnt any fuel in the fuel rail. This next question is kind of a shot in the dark, but if anyone has a used fuel pump for the 89 comanche it would help a great deal with the situation here. Not much else I can do for the time being just gotta keep motivated and active each day. Thanks everyone for all the help getting me this far. Its been a great fun journey and someday I'll have a great Jeep thanks to all the help and support I have received from this forum. Thank you all!
  4. I was wondering which fuel pump, and filter to get for my 1989 Jeep Comanche 4.0l i6. I was looking at some on rock auto but wasn't sure which one would fit and be good to go rather then having to modify any wires. Thanks for the help!
  5. Before I buy anything I'm going to try a fix and bypass the fuel pump ballast resistor and see if its something that simple.
  6. Well I did a little digging, and come to find out if you CPS goes bad it will shut power off the fuel pump and spark plugs. I took the air hose off the throttlebody, spray starter in it and cranked the engine and it ran. So I think its the CPS and for less than 40bucks for a new one, I'll take the chance and hope its as easy as that. I will post back how it worked.
  7. I checked all the relays and cleaned them up, they were oxidized and dirty. Still didnt do anything.
  8. tomorrow I'm gonna buy a fuel filter and Crankshaft position sensor and see what happens.
  9. also I cannot hear the fuel pump turn on, no buzzing or any noise from underneath
  10. so I bought new terminals and wire brushed the copper cable tips to a shine, attached everything now I actually get a crank out of the engine. I can't get it to start tho, currently am trying to determine wether its a spark issue or a fuel issue. Battery connection is good and all the lights are on.
  11. cleaned everything, and I couldn't get anyone here to help with spark plugs. I think I am not getting any fuel, and I don't know how much gas is in the tank, I added maybe 2 or 3 quarts I had left. I inspected as many wires as I could, found 2 burnt out ones near the Master cylinder. on the left near the radiator resoviour is one more smaller burnt cable. None are/were attached to anything. There was a cable spliced from the electric fan to the headlight wires I removed and now when I crank the engine the fan doesnt turn on at first anymore as a direct result of removing the cable. I am pretty stumped at this point all the lights work and stay on, other then the turn signal which was one when I first turned the key forward but never came back. the mp3 someone added kept turning off and on and was very loose so I removed it completely. on the interior there are numerous loose cables above the pedals, fuses missing out of abs slots. I counted 7 cables not plugged into anything. still plan on checking the spark on the plugs to determine wether a new CPS is needed, I priced them around 60 bucks here.
  12. I noticed alot of the cables to the left of the engine are all coated in black oil and grease where they meet. could that be the cause?
  13. what do I do if there is no spark?
  14. like a light taping or something, its gone now only happened that one time. I just pressed the center of the valve and nothing happened.. no air or fuel or anything.
  15. just tried to crank it again, no success with startup but I noticed a clicking noise every 4 seconds or so coming from under the intake manifold. any idea what that means?
  16. forgot to menchion, its been siting for 6 years, I just added all new fluids and gas should i keep cranking it until it starts while pressing the gas pedal?
  17. ok lemme see if I can get my friend over here. anything i can do in the mean time?
  18. One wire at a time off the old caps layout onto the new one as per instructions. I do not know, i have limited tools, how can I check?
  19. ok it cranks now! won't start, I'm a newb to this, any tips?
  20. alrighty be back soon with more progress
  21. yes its charged. I just put brand new wire terminals on both cables, also srubbed the copper wire with a wire brush. It was seriously corroded and most likely the cause until I found out the spark plug firing order is inccorect, the number one is always to the left of a screw on the distributor cap, mine is not. Also the hayne book doesnt say which direction the distributor cap is facing from the block so i don't know where to start.
  22. brand new battery, cleaned terminals with baking soda and water yesterday when I tested it but had to go to work shortly after. I'm going to Napa or Advance to get new terminals. First I'm going to check the Neutral safety switch and engine ground. It is a no start, no crank problem I determined. Ill come back with updates
  23. I just hooked up everything and put the key in, turned it forward and the fan and radio came on so i tried to start it and the engine clicked once and everything shut off , and I havnt gotten power back to radio or fan after that. Someone please help me
  24. replaced a heater hose and added power steering fluid. installed battery and turned the key to the on position, fan and radio came on so I tried to start it and the engine clicked and the radio and fan shutoff. Now I cannot get the radio or fan back on, I am not sure whats happening.
