  1. Thanks guys. I appreciate the help. Will read up on the linked threads for sure. I'll report back when I've had a chance to get a proper look at the switch and try a bigger fuse as suggested. Have a good one.
  2. Hey guys! Haven't posted anything in a while, mostly because the Jeep's been working flawlessly for a while . Maybe I'm hitting an issue that's already been adressed, in that case feel free to redirect me. If not then maybe we can all learn something new. My problem started a week ago. Driving down the road i hit some big bumbs and the car went completely black (I know now this is because it burned through the fusible link for the igniton positive) but had no clue then. Had a burned smell in the cab while i coasted to a stop so checked under the dash at the fuse panel and found the wire plugged into the "Batt" terminal looking pretty fried and wiggling. Probably been a while in the making. Got towed home and got to looking around at the basics; burned fuses, obvious corrosion, loose terminals etc. Didn't find anything that stood out except my fried "Batt-connection" so I went ahead and wired a postive lead into the igniton switch (red terminal) and the power was back. Checked the fusible link which was broken. Replaced it with a standard 15 amp blade-fuse. Might go back to a link later. So power's back into the igniton switch, reading full voltage out of the yellow terminal aswell as one with I think smaller gauge purple wires. However there's no voltage coming from orange or brown. Is this correct? As I understand these are accessory something? There's no power to the stereo or gauges except lights. When I put the electrical system under load with both the heater in full, lights on and window-motors working I blow my 15 amp fuse and loose ignition power. Am I using the correct amp fuse? or is there a still a short somewhere? Tried putting a fresh postive lead into the red ignition terminal thinking the wire itself might be bad but same problem. My MJ's an 88 Laredo. The Batt terminal I spoke of is used in junction with the Ign terminal for some relays to drive an automatic lowbeam feature as I understand it, I live in Sweden and can't find anything plugged into these slots on fuse-box diagrams from the US. I'm no electrical expert but think myself somewhat logical, however I feel stuck, sometimes you can't see the obvious staring at it for too long. Fresh thoughts are much appreciated  Thanks
  3. Battery is barely a year, same thing with the alternator, both were dead when I picked her up. Alternator charging great, checked when she was in the garage. The cables from the bat along with the engine block-ground I've just fanned an eye over, will go through them more thoroughly!
  4. So I got an annoying problem I've had forever but thought I'd fixed until today  My 88 has "always" had the problem of dying when stopping, basically dying off while I'm braking and being completely dead when I come to a stop. Since I got it been looking into this and finally got results by changing to a new TPS. That was about 5 months ago, it's never stopped again 'til today. First idea was the 20 dollar TPS from Ebay simple failed. But since I live and have my garage on an island it can be a hassle ferrying my cars over here to examine, so before you ask I have not measured it yet. My nearby parts-shop wanted 250 dollars for an OEM equivalent TPS. Anything obvious I'm missing here besides a possibly bad TPS? So next question.. Other than my first issue I've been having some rare, happens once in maybe 30 times I try to start the truck, starter issues. I turn the key and all I get is a loud "electrical" noise, a sharp buss I suppose. Had the truck at the garage a month ago to have a look and found the solenoid on the starter sitting there but just barely hanging on with no screws. Since i had a new starter laying at home, changed it and worked great, no starting issues until today. Is there a possible connection between the two? Seems unlikely to me but need some fresh ideas here. Have checked for any shorts but nothing obvious. Do have a mild oil leak occasionally splashing on the starter however. Long post but been having these $#!&ty and rather annoying reliability issues off and on for a while now and with this setback I feel out of good ideas myself :wall:
  5. Was the pass-side. If nothing else it's great that they're actually functional.
  6. Interesting. Pulled mine (just one side) to fix a dent left by the PO couple months ago :shake: Was surprised because I found no ventilation opening, just solid metal. Not saying you're wrong, but at least on mine there's no vent-opening beneath the plastic. Checked so the rear window's got a good seal?Just an idea when you mentioned the cool air hitting the back of your neck. My 88's really bad around the doors, the rubber-seal's been worn to shreds from freezing against the metal and being "ripped" when opening the doors. Have to fix that some day
  7. Cab vents are simply decorative, unfortunetly. You have a split rear window?
  8. Anyone running LEDs in their "dome" lights, and hows it working for you? Need to replace mine so was thinking about swapping to LED bulbs while I'm at it  If you're happy with yours, let me know where you got them and for how much. Appreciate the help guys.
  9. Temporary fix would be covering up the grille with some cardboard. Not uncommon to do here in Sweden during winter.
  10. Yup, sure do. You learn something new everyday! Thanks for the help :clapping:
  11. I'll have a look tomorrow after work. It's got the 44 after all, just came back from playing around in the garage. What's this? my 88 doesn't have it, at least I haven't seen it B) And under the carpets... No rust on either side.
  12. Could someone tell me if the trac-loc limited-slip option was specific for Dana 44 models or was it avaliable on the 35 axle aswell? If so, is there a way to check if it's working?
  13. Sounds like something for the future
  14. Mine was actually in great shape, just hosed it off and then sprayed with rustproofing.
  15. Just outside Stockholm, live on an island in the archipelago.
