Finally finished swapping out the fuse boxes. Bright shiny connections and no missing ones:

Excellent site. Nice find.

I looked at several online sources, and nothing. Good luck, but short of finding someone locally to fab you one up, you're only choice may be the JY's. Jeff

Have you thought about trading your Comanche for a new Jeep?
JeffK replied to mknherhappy's topic in The Pub
:hmm: whaa? it's all subsidized money. they are not knocking down the price, the govt is giving the mfr $4500 and the mfr is giving the dealer $4500 $9k including the pass-through $4500 from the govt), and the other $1000 is either coming from the mfr or the mfr is making the dealer pony up the $1000. I may be wrong, but isn't Chrysler operating on bailout funds? Technically wouldn't that make the entire $9000 taxpayer money? -
Not a jeep and this one took a lot less time. Look at the vehicle in the background on the right... another... Renix...

I can't fault you for taking advantage of this program, but I sure hope you express your deepest appreciation to the rest of us .... considering its OUR TAX MONEY you just received. Wow, I don't believe the comments I've recieved from friends over this. Mostly by people who couldn't afford a car right now. Just like my job as a firefighter, when I'm supposedly "doing nothing". People complain, but they're the first ones who want a reference when a job comes available. I don't really think it's about being able to afford a car as much as it's about taxpayer money being used for additional dealership profits. But hey, you're a taxpayer too right? You should take advantage of the program, after all you'll be paying for it just like the rest of us.

Yes, I've thought about it. For all of about 10 seconds. The fact is, Jeep (whoever "Jeep" is these days) does not currently make a single vehicle I might want to own, and in fact they don't really make a single vehicle worthy of wearing the name Jeep. It only takes 10 seconds to figure that out. End of discussion. ...or one test drive :ack: -
Intrument Panel w/Gauges ('87)
JeffK replied to 87MJJeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you use a 4 cylinder cluster on a 6 cylinder everything will work except the tach (if it has one), which will not register properly. According to these guys here the tachs are calibrated for either the 4 or 6 cylinder. -
Due the the neglected clutch master cylinder leak, my electrical issues are continuing. I blew the dome light fuse and when I pulled the fuse the terminal fell apart. It gets better, my main water leak on the drivers side is between the fuse box and the firewall. Since I'm going to have to pull the fuse box to replace the gasket I picked up a fuse box from an '89 XJ automatic at the JY, and my plans replace the existing box entirely with the new XJ box. By my count there's about 25+ connections to solder. :ack: For future reference here's the fuse box layout, As of now I plan on using Circuit #11 for my power windows. FUSE & CIRCUIT BREAKER IDENTIFICATION 1. 25 Amp-Rear Washer/Wiper. 2. 15 Amp-Radio, Cigarette Lighter. 3. 25 Amp-Blower Motor. 4. 20 Amp-Turn Signal, Back-Up Lights, Rear Window Defogger Relay. 5. 10 Amp-Dome Light, Courtesy Lights, Glove Box Light, Cargo Light, Radio Memory, Power Mirrors, Teltak Connector. 6. 15 Amp-Hazard Warning System, Stoplights. 7. 10 Amp-Parking Lights, Headlight Warning Chime/Buzzer, Instrument Panel Light Dimmer. 8. 7.5 Amp-Gauges, Instrument Cluster, Seat Belt Warning, Headlight Delay, Chime Module, Overhead Console. 9. 5 Amp-Instrument Panel Illumination. 10. 25 Amp-Rear Window Defogger. 11. 30 Amp (Circuit Breaker)-Power Door Locks, Power Seats, Trailer Towing Wiring Harness. 12. 10 Amp-ETR Radio, Power Antenna. 13. 7.5 Amp (1988)-Transmission Control Unit. 14. 25 Amp-Headlight Delay, Horns, Security Alarm. 15. 5.5 Amp (Circuit Breaker)-Front Wiper. 16. 30 Amp (Circuit Breaker)-Power Windows. 17. 10 Amp-Clock, Security Alarm (Ign) .

I understood that, even though I may have not worded it as such in my post. My mistake. I've got a big sheet of neoprene type stuff here to make a new gasket out of. I also picked up some NoOx for the electrical connections. Thanks for the help.

There's a electrical supply house on my way to the JY. Thanks for the advise.

Thanks. Judging from the number my leaking clutch master cylinder did on the fuses and some of the electrical connectors, I'd say that gasket is gone. Is this what you're talking about? NoOx

So we got our first major down pour this afternoon and afterward I checked the status of my baby powder. The passenger side had some from the door seal and of all places the grommet around the antenna cable. The drivers side was nearly all from around the fuse box. The seal between the cowl and hood is history so water is running down the firewall and then apparently between the fuse box and the big connector in the engine compartment. Is there some type of gasket between this connector and the fuse box?
