  1. ComancheRob.....I do belive you made the paper.........The Toronto SUN , front and centre.
  2. Yep the inner shafts are longer on the F250 D44......by about 1". These are the shafts that my F150 extended cab D44 uses.......it is the exact same thing as the F250 except that it uses the 5x5.5 wheel pattern and has single piston callipers. The 78/79 F150 extended cab even uses the F250 style steering linkage etc.....I had to modify a Bronco linkage to work on my rig. I used the 9" rear out of the extended cab F150 as well..... I have 2 sets of F250 inner/outter shafts for spares , F150/Bronco axel shafts are not long enough.
  3. Yep they are wide.......my rig is 83" outside of front tires. WMS to WMS on my 78 F150 axel is 67". My axel is out of an extended cab F150 which is the same axel as the F250......only differance is the brakes/wheel bolt pattern. The extended cab F150's have leaf springs instead of radius arms/coils......no cast in brackets and the tubes are 1/2" thick instead of 3/8" like the cast bracket varieties. Extended cab F150's from 78/79 are a lttle hard to find now......in my area anyway ( RUST )
  4. I better get a few too.......PM me your addy and i'll send out some funds. Thanks :D
  5. I just sold a Ford HP D60 to a friend that was closer to needing it than I was. It was a 1988 version with king pins.....pumpkin is offset to the drivers side more than the 78/79 version. I think 88 to 92's still had king pins , 93 and up have ball joints.
  6. Another consideration for the doubler compared to a Stak or Atlas was that when I do my axel swap next season , I am unsure of weather I will use a LP Chev D60 or a HP Ford D60.......Right now I have a drivers drop HP D44 so I can flip the Dana 300 now.......and if I use a Chev D60 then I can unflip it.
  7. My wife ROCKS.....she lets me spend time/money on it anytime I want to. She keeps trying to steal my keys too LOL. Main reason she likes it is because our oldest son loves goin wheeling with me and when he is happy so is she. When I first bought a Jeep it was because I wanted another motorcycle.....and she said NO. So I brought home a 78 Cherokee Chief....think she had second thoughts when I pulled in the driveway HAHAHAHA I asked her what she thought.....she said YOU don't WANT TO KNOW and went back in the house :D
  8. Just like you.....I already have the 203/205 and the 231/300. So for $400 plus shipping , I can double up the cases. $3000 for a Stak or Atlas is way too much coin for very little advantage. Like ya said.....if it isnt enough reduction I'll put a 4:1 kit in the 300. Twin stick the 300 too. Plus I need to lengthen my front driveshaft so the extra length from doubleing the cases is a bonus. I have a ton of 4x4 stuff kickin around.....all bought for next to nothing , or free. I swap and trade parts all the time......Just traded a set of D44 4.10's for a bottom sump 15 gal fuel cell. Autometer Pro Comp gauges were aquired from trading a set of Rancho 5000's. I am always lookin for stuff LOL.

    top 5 bands

Mudvayne , TOOL , AudioSlave , RATM , Death from above 1979 Classic stuff includes.....Hendrix , Zepplin , Doors , Sabbath , Cream And Stevie Ray Vaughn.....the man had some real talent.
  10. Ya , I guess that box could be bought.......but it aint pretty......its bent , scratched , dented , bondo filled , cut up and generally screwed. If ya want it , I'll throw in 2 real good tail gates LOL......you come get it and its yours for free.
  11. LOL....mine is on a weight loss program too. Bought an MB105 tube bender so the rear frame/bed/tranny cross member/rocker panels etc are all going This winter is V8 swap/doubler/exo/tube bed/tube dash and autometers/finish my trail doors.......next year is D60's and some 42" IROK's
  12. Definetely won't be useing a 231 for the second case......even with a 231 C HD with the wider chain and the 6 pinion planetary , I think it's just an explosion waiting to happen LOL. Thats why I was plannin on a 300 flipped......maybe even run a 4:1 JB conversions kit in the 300 , that way I could have 3 low range options and twin stick the 300 too. The 203/205 is too heavy and too large for the MJ.....maybe another project.
  13. I am considering a BOX4ROCKS doubler in my winter rebuild.....anyone useing a MadRooster doubler , or a similar setup. My driveline is going to be a Dodge Magnum 360 with a 727 / NP231 that I was going to double up with a flipped Dana 300.......but I have an NP203 range box and a Ford NP205 that I have considered doubleing useing an ORD kit. It is going to be very heavy , so I am leaning towards the 231/300 setup. If anyone has some pic's of thier winch mounting that would be cool too.......I am going to be running the rad in the bed , so I am going to mount the winch recessed into the grill opening. Is anyone doing something similar ?????
  14. There is a pic of a long arm setup on www.XJDB.com that shows a setup with TIE ROD ENDS. Looks like he made his axel brackets out of 1" plate steel , the upper arms are attached to the lowwers like an RE kit only they attach one above the other at the axel. Looks pretty good actually. Take a look at HOT RODS some time....the radius arms on the straight axels use TRE's to attach them to the frame. Stock trac bars use a TRE too and they take a pretty severe side load......2500 and 3500 dodge diesels use these trac bars too , how week do you think they are ????
  15. You can get a longer slip yoke from Rubicon Express , but I am unsure about the YJ slip yoke being longer ????? I did the same thing as Pete......cut down my stock 2wd shaft. Ran it for a year , then swaped in a SYE and built a new shaft from 2 Ford driveshafts.
  16. Sorry , but the Box is gone already. I have another one but its been beat up like Pee Wee Herman at a UFC match. This place rocks , everyone gets along and willing to help out.......remember there are NO stupid questions , just stupid ANSWERS LOL. Sorry for highjackin the thread Rob.
  17. Sinnaevd.....Jeepkings isnt all bad ya know. It was me that pointed you in the direction of ComancheClub remember LOL. I remember replying to your questions......even sent ya pic's of my MJ , it just depends on who replies to your post , some of them bash the newbies pretty bad. Some of them make me laugh.....think they are hard core wheelers even if they drive a YJ with 31's on it HAHAHA you would almost think they had a rock buggy with D60's under it. :D
  18. Width is a matter of preferance. Mine is 67" wms to wms. But why limit yourself to 1/2 ton knuckles if your having custom axel houseings built ???? If your spending that amount of cash on a custom 9" front why would you use 1/2 ton stuff.....go with D60 outters , 35 spline Detroit Locker , 35 spline inner + outter shafts , ORD 5 bolt conversion hubs with Warn drive flanges. If your only useing 1/2 ton stuff , save your cash and swap a stock HP D44 Ford front under it. I run 36's on my HP D44 with 4.88's locked , and only pop u-joints once in awhile......I always have spare axel shafts with me. Not tryin to be negative......but your not gaining anything if you use D44 outters on your 9".....it's just money wasted for nothing.
  19. I used chevrolet Beretta speaker enclosures ( stock plastic 6x9 , mounts under the rear tray in the trunk ) mounted them behind the seats , have Alpine 6x9's in them. Also have a 10" RF sub mounted in a small enclosed box between the buckets....300 watt Kenwood amp mounts above the sub box. Have 5" Alpine door speakers and a small set of tweeters mounted under the dash. This setup rattles the truck pretty good , the head unit is a Sony 50 watt x 4 . All of this stuff was pieced together from various crap layin around my shop.....some of it is 15 years old and came out of my first car LOL. I never scrap or sell any of my cars before rippin the stereo out....ya never know when ya might need tunes in a new vehicle.
  20. :D Got a winch for the MJ...... Its a Mile Marker 9500 electric winch , can't wait to put this on , SWEET. My wife ROCKS.
  21. I like the diesel swap idea. A friend of my cousin has a 94 F150 2wd truck that he has swaped a Perkins 4 cyl industrial diesel into.......has lots of torque , will even light up the tires no problem. Its not in the same league as a power stroke or a duramax , but its surpriseingly driveable and gets great mileage. I am swapin in a 360 Dodge Magnum into my MJ this winter , but the little Perkins would be super cool. A guy on another site is going to be putting a VW 1.9L TDI in his CJ3B project....that might be cool too.
  22. The HP D30's can go 4.88's and the low pinion D30's can go 5.38's , don't remeber seeing anything lowwer than 4.88's for the high pinion 30 but I could be wrong. I am running 4.88's in my D44/9" combo and its a nice compromise with the 4.0L and an AW4......I wouldnt run 4.56's but 5.13's would have been better , 1st gear is still pretty fast for crawling even when in 4 low......time for a Mad Rooster doubler :D
  23. Check out CAGE Off Road's radius arm kits.......they were originaly designed for early Broncos front application. But they can be used in the rear as well. CAN4X4 magazines project 4runner is setup with this dual radius arm kit and looks like it flexes extremly well. The arms are long....the brackets for the front and rear radius arms almost touch in the middle of the truck.

    Stuck in a rut

Same problem here.....2 Jobs , 2 Kids , 2 Jeeps , no money , no time. But my wife actually likes my MJ so I get time to mod it , I just have to give up sleeping......she still lets me eat LOL.

    V8 options

Have you considered a Dodge small block ???? Thats what is going into mine.....360 Magnum with the A518 O/D and an NP231. After looking at the schematics for the harnness/computer it doesnt seem to bad to swap.....and 245HP and 330 lbs/ft should be sufficient.
