It's one of those things thats not hard, but it takes a bit of time. You have to pull the carrier and drive them out. Usually I will use a bunch of extensions, and have used a broom handle in a pinch to get all the way down the tube to out it back in. Rob

Eagle hit the nail on the head. I bet that Rusty's kit didn't come with an adjustable trackbar. When you change the distance from the axle to the frame, without lengthening the trackbar, it will pull it sideways, causing your problem. If it bothers you, get a quality adjustable trackbar, and get it re-aligned after. Rob

Yep, that is a rust free MJ in the midwest. Don't know why or how it got here, but that's just about as rare as they come. Rob :D

Yep. I wonder what that truck looked like when it left the dealer's lot back in the day. Must have been one heck of a beautiful sight, with one proud owner behind the wheel. Brushguard, hidden winch... Who knows what else they might have checked... D44? 4.10's? LSD? Damn shame. Rob :( -

I often want to do that... Just went to the yard yesterday, and there was a super clean Ranger with a little one on the back. I like the look. Rob  -

Those back tubes look awfully long... Maybe LWB perhaps? Rob

Neohic already contacted me on it, and since he pulled a whole black XJ interior for me, I kinda owe him a solid. I guess spending all the time with the black stuff he pulled for me grew on him. Plus, he fell into a couple black buckets. Pat has already called about any extra trim pieces... Black interiors to Mj'ers seem to be like crack to the projects. I'd be happy to offer up any extras, and you guys will be the first to know when I do. Still interested in the vinyl bench? Rob

If you want it that bad... Its not in very good condition... Big tear at the creases under the drivers butt. I would have grabbed the header panel off that MJ for ya, but the DS damage just nicked it. Rob :dunno:

Happy birthday guys! Jim, you break out the ol' chute and put another jump under the belt for today? Rob
-
Usually even with ordinances, you can look them up on the city's website. Being that its a college town, I bet the have a site, and would have a PDF of codes/ordinances. Rob

Went to the ol' dealer where I used to work today... Rack was tied up, so I just drove it. Put about 150 miles on it, and I think it will be fine. I'll probably get under it tomorrow, and see if I can eek out any more caster while its on the ground, and call it good until I can check the tow. Rob

Not much to update here, been busy with life, but I had a chance to get out to a new yard today. I knew they had one '87 MJ but didn't even think about what an '87 MJ has the potential to have until I got there and found it: A black interior. With the cloth checker bench I have been dieing to find. $150 later, I had the bench, and all MJ specific black interior stuff. Casualty of war: Now I have the option of Buckets with the center console, or a bench with the mini. As I plan to have this truck for a long time, it will be nice to have options. I should be tearing into this one soon, as the weather is getting nicer, and I am itching to start with the bodywork. Rob

With those little brackets on the bumper, one has to wonder if it had a factory brushguard also... Anyone know how those mounted? Rob -
Hell yeah. If your game to run another year, I'll buy another couple. Rob

1987 Jeep Comanche 2.5L / Auto / 2WD / D35 / SWB Build date: Illegible Current Location: Pick 'n' Pull, Wadsworth, IL (Northeast Corner) Status: Awaiting the Crusher. :( Notes: Looks like it was a base model, painted up to be similar to a Laredo, or similar. Black, with a silver two tone. Painted flares. Used to have a black cloth bench interior, no more Black MJ specific stuff is left of that :D . Rear slider, with a plexiglass repair. Dash is still in good shape, as are the kick panels and other non-MJ black stuff. I left it all there. Current owner: Pick 'n' Pull, Wadsworth, IL www.picknpull.com Rob

Some stained wood would probably fit in nice... What is the number and title for the violation so I can look it up? Rob

If you saw the condition of the truck, you wouldn't be so sad. At one time it was most likely a nice MJ, but that one time was a few owners ago... Better to save what you can and say goodbye. Rob -
I've seen it on XJ's, but I suppose most of the GC's I've seen have the gray cladding. Was body-colored cladding an option? Mine is a limited, so will the normally grey body moldings are painted body color from factory. Some pics: At the time, I wanted a late model XJ, but couldn't find one in my price range. Grands of the same year ('97-'98) seemed to be $1K cheaper, in similar trim. I wanted the 4.0L as it was an engine I knew, and wanted a limited so I could have the colored trim. Then I found this thing, and the rest is history. Little more problematic than an XJ (3rd front axle, 3rd rear axle, but I think that is more my fault than anything). Rob

Yep, got it reversed... Rob
-
That can't be right... Did you get those reversed Sam? I have the second set, and could have sworn the 5.9's have the first. Any input on my steering problem Sir? Rob
-
Ok, ok. I forgot about the seats. You are right. They are a tad different... I seem to remember it being more the stitching pattern more than the grain IIRC... But I never caught the e-brake handle and the console lid... Rob

My 4.0L Limited has the same interior, save for a light gray roof and pillars, and I love it. The one thing you don't think you need until you have it and go without are the steering wheel mounted radio controls... If you are a channel surfer like me, they are amazing. Rob
