  1. Look at those guns! Rob L. :brows:
  2. no no no, it was 1.21 jiggawatts, jeeze, you're gonna kill someone :rotf: And that wasn't correct either. It was supposed to be Gigawatts. Christopher Lloyd mispronounced it, and they kept it. And some vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnqtXOi1iaY Add that to the bank of useless knowlege. Rob L. ;)
  3. Same here. :( Rob L.
  4. Welcome, but we are going to need the full details of your truck to best help us out. 1988 Comanche 4.0L/2.5L Auto/Manual 4X4/2WD Miles might help. At first thought, I say your overheating if the truck won't start and the temp gauge is pegged when it doesn't start... Rob L.
  5. Have to disagree. My '91 Eliminator had one. I have seen them in the XJ's also. They can also be found on MOPAR ERA jeeps. Rob L.
  6. I would just Junk yard the switch. Its a very common item, and can be easily had off an MJ or XJ. Rob L.
  7. I don't even know what those are... I vaguely recall a nursery-rhyme or the like about them... So, I think you have topped me for uselessness... But I don't think your beans weigh 800lbs and tie up the bed of my truck. Mexican jumping beans are actually the seed pod of a flower found in mexico. Moths lay eggs in the flower, and the flower goes into seed mode, leaving larvae trapped in the pod eating the seed. They eventually eat their way out, but they are trapped for awhile. The get the "jumping" from the larvae slamming themselves against the side of the seed to get out of heat sources, and it will twitch or sometimes move an inch or so. Used to be found all over in gas stations and drugs stores in little plastic cases so you could hear them rattle. I was just always curious, and never had them as a kid. Rob L.
  8. I'm already aligning things for saturday will. The GF said she has a lesson at 1 PM, and gave me the green light to spend the day her birthday saturday at the yard wrenching. I am going to borrow a generator from Public works, an electric impact, grinder, and sawzall. Load it all on the ZJ's trailer and head out. Then its Game on! I plan on being there when they open at 9 AM. Rob L.
  9. I've had some people ask about what I mean about my "couch"... This is to help anyone else who is wondering. I want to make a on-the-cheap MJ version of this:  Rob L.
  10. Not only are the prices great, but if I come back with a sawzall, the guy working there said he would let me chop off the last 2 feet of bed on the rusted out wheel well LWB MJ. He said only $20 for that. $50-60 with a good tailgate. That makes me > Rob L.
  11. Sorry about that vent Will. I had forgotten that was loose and fell off when I was gift wrapping it. I found the vent and line in the back of the ZJ when I got home. As for the smell... ? Would have to ask Correy on that one. I just took it home and its been sitting under my deck ever since. Maybe some bugs/water got into it. I don't think the pump is good, can't remember. Yep, got Dave's windshield, ended up being $45 glass and frame, and $15  For the wiper motor I forgot to take off. I think that was still a smokin' deal for around us. Wade, I can see what I can do next time I am up. Will said he'd be willing to help with the axles, so that might speed things up. Rob L.
  12. Sure, I don't know EXACTLY when I am going back out, but planning on saturday. Axles are planned as a must do. Anyone's guess how much time I will have after that to parts grab before they close. I can try though... Rob L.
  13. Useless? I just bought 5 mexican jumping beans off ebay. I think your purchase was a good deal. As for mine, I never got them as a kid, and was curious. For $3.50 with free shipping? I take 'em. Rob L. :D
  14. Off of what? The ZJ? PM sent. Parts are at my place safe and warm. Rob L.
  15. Went back today, and grabbed some odds and ends, as well as met up with whowey. Together we found my axle donor, with the D30/D44, and complete with 3.73's. Also grabbed my new fogs, lens, and picked up a YJ windshield and some CJ mirrors for jeepdocdave. Even ended up finding a factory crap-mat for the ZJ cargo area, although not the right color. (Will, it was actually laying under the caravan next to my ZJ's red twin. ) But with the amount of stuff I got, I got it for free. Found out that while the yard is Pull yourself, they allow generators. The only things not allowed are beer and any kind of torch. SO... Looks like next saturday, I am having an axle party at the scrap yard. Anyone down? Also managed to take a few emblems today, since I didn't get charged for the last few. Don, here is the pic of how the mat mounts in the gate. Now I have 2 working fogs, and a non broken passenger turn lamp. :D Now that I know its game on with power tools and generators, this junkyard is going to be my new home. Rob L.
  16. :agree: Buddy, also notice that Wade only ran home-extended uppers. Not lowers. From what I see, the washer, and small movement of the hole on the uppers is do-able in my book... But adding a whole section into a lower, more shock/load taking arm... Lets just say, wouldn't catch me getting a ride in the truck with those arms. Rob L.
  17. The tailgate cover used the small black sheetmetal type screws, with large black plastic washers recessed down into the mat material. I was lucky enough to get all but one or two that were already missing. I was just suprised to find that the whole darn thing, mat and tailgate guard, was only $8. Don, if you want, I can snap some detailed pics of the mounting washers and the tail-guard tomorrow evening. Also turns out, you can get a whole pickup bed at this yard for $100. I guess I will have to keep my eye out. If I could snag a rust free longbed for $100, I would go nuts. I have decided to go back tomorrow to scope out some more stuff, and exchange some turn signals I picked up. Apparently, although body styles are exactly the same in ZJ's 96-98, a '96 turn lamp uses a different socket, and fog lights aren't left/right interchangeable. They work, but I know its not right. I am a methodical, picky SOB. No one would ever know about having a Left fog on the right side, but *I* would. :fs1: Rob L.
  18. Bed mat is all mine. Looks good in an MJ bed, can't wait to get it in mine. But I am open to a trade for a rust free long bed. :D Rob L.
  19. :shake: Your not helping Wade. Rob L. ;)
  20. Just tried out a new Salvage yard out by me, and hit it good. I went looking to do some groundwork sourcing some axles, 231 t-case, and some lenses for the ZJ, but happened upon an MJ. Was a '89 4.0L, AW4 column shift, LWB. Bed was shot, as was the tailgate, but I got the opportunity to grab the easily had MJ only stuff. Pretty good haul. I got the tail lights, vents, emblems, and one other curious item. It had a factory rubber bed mat for the LWB MJ. I figured that the mat would be at least $75-100. Junkyard was LKQ in Rockford, IL. All said and done, it was $23 each for the tails, and only $8! for the entire bed mat and tailgate cover. I didn't even get charged for the vents or emblems. This works out great, because I am not a fan of the drop-ins, and don't have the money for a spray in. I was going to just buy a horse mat, but this works better! And its factory original stuff. Lots of Cash for clunkers cars, even this mint CJ-7. Hardly any rust. The interior was bedlined, and mint. :( But, I did find the t-case i'll need, and found out that ANY axles, hub to hub, is only $85. T-case is only $80 I believe, so all in all, it was a great day. Just have to grab the tools, and make another trip out to get the axles, and the t-case at a later date. Rob L.
  21. Good find! Glad to see ya found your way here. Rob L.
  22. Fixed. lower But I wouldn't go just welding in a section of arm to add length. There are many things you have to do to get it right. Plating, gusseting, and so forth. By the time you put in the work to get it "right" with the modified stock arms, you would have been better off just buying some aftermarket arms. Rob L.
  23. Dom TUBE? Pipe is for plumbing, tube is structural. Can you post some pics of those arms you built? Might help to see what kind of fabricator you are before we go telling you to build arms. Rob L.
  24. Welcome! Any pics? Rob L.
  25. :agree: As much as I like scraping dead people off the road, its the innocent ones that get to me. If someone's hack job killed someone else, I really wouldn't be happy. If you can't do it right, don't do it at all. Nuff said. Rob L.
