  1. Mine will revert to defrost when going up a long incline. I must have a small leak somewhere.
  2. ^ Do these things first, then re-evaluate how the engine runs before jumping to conclusions.
  3. Take it apart and clean/lube/inspect it. Super easy. I'll check it out this weekend.
  4. Not long ago I had an issue with anti-freeze dripping / soaking it. I removed it and cleaned up the exterior but did not attempt replacing the brushes. Maybe it's time to replace it before cold weather sets in. Thanks everyone for the responses.
  5. For the past couple of months I have been having sporadic slow starting. By that I mean the cranking speed is slow. Normally I would blame a low battery but the battery is less than a year old and this event happens sporadically. 80% of the time the cranking speed is normal. I have the upgraded Kelly’s cables. Could this condition be a starter going bad? Thanks.
  6. I had a similar problem. When I checked the ground point at the dipstick I found one of the sensor wires was loose from the connector. Since I repaired it, no more problems.
  7. The intermittent and slow speed work fine. When turned to "Hi" the speed seems to remain the same. Should I suspect the switch or the wiper motor? Thanks. 89 MJ, 4.0 Renix, Wiper function switch on the column.
  8. Yep. Plug & play. No issues. Where I got mine: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200902253274?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT But I only paid $104.

  10. Cruiser, your suggestion got me thinking about connectors being potential problem areas. Thanks again.
  11. Okay, taking Cruiser's lead I found another potential problem connector (C159) on the schematic. It connects the chassis harness to the tail light harness. I found it tucked up under the bed behind the drivers s ide wheel well. The PO had ..ahem ... rigged a trailer connector on the wiring and the corrosion had taken it's toll. I re-did all the wiring and everything is good. Thanks everyone for your replies!
  12. I just checked that connector (black in this case). I disconnected then reconnected and still have the same problem.
  13. I'll check that out tomorrow AM and let you know Cruiser.
  14. What has me stumped is the fact that both left and right sides are affected, while the tail lights and backup lights work on both sides.
  15. Power to the tail light side of the socket, no power to the turn signal side.
  16. Problem: No brake lights. No rear turn signals. Known: Fuses OK Bulbs OK Tail lights OK Front turn signals OK Rear light chassis ground OK 89 MJ Any ideas? Thanks.
  17. If you google "cleaning renix iac" you will find the link to a good thread on the xjtalk forum.
  18. I am a Cruiser disciple. I recently started getting an intermittent high idle. I could hear Cruiser in the back of my head "#1 Ground Refreshing". Sure enough the IAC ground wire had worked its way out of the terminal crimp at the dipstick stud. Such a simple thing. Thanks Cruiser!
  19. Here are the replacement plugs I bought. One is for drain the other for fill: M18 X 1.5 thread O2 sensor bung M16 X 1.5 thread Drain Sump plug Both available on eBay. Also, fill it with Red Line 75w90 NS fluid. You won't be sorry.
  20. I would like to know the physical dimensions of the 18 gal and the 23.5 gal tanks. Does anyone here know, or know where I can get the info? Thanks.
