  1. I'd like to get them to pay, thing is I gave them 100$ in good will that they will make this right. Now I'm having second thoughts. I can't take the truck to the dealer, wasn't planning for the truck to be on the road till next year, nearest dealer is over a hundred miles away. Accumulate quotes? Parts and Labor, towing? Threaten to take them to court? I did tell them I'd "Eat" the Dashboard damage,if they would call the remaining balance even.Although I think it's my right to change my mind, after I've investigated further and seen what I'm up against.
  2. It's the bracket for the linkage to the HEIGHT SENSING PROPORTIONING VALVE-it varies the amount of braking action in relation to the amount of load in your truck. On my truck the linkage was gone. I just made sure the "arm" for the valve was in the "up" position to insure full braking action at all times.General consensus on this post is that those valves work so-so if at all. When I finish my 8.8 install, that valve and all it's associated hardware will be removed. BTW nice looking truck. Do you get to keep the 88MJ plate? I seen that plate on there in the picts of when you first got the truck.
  3. How hard is it going to be to pull the dash?
  4. Well it's been a few weeks since my last posts. AX-15 and 231 TC installed, got the exhaust done,I'll finish bolting it up after the 8.8 is in for the final time. I'll also trim the pipe end when I'm sure how much stickout I have after the tires are installed, also think I might need another support bracket after the bend. Some guys talk about eliminating their Cat,I still got mine,Sort of. Today I got the D35 out,put it side by side with the 8.8 for comparison. Beauty and the Beast.......Naw, the 8.8 is the Beauty and the Beast  D35 :dunce: In progress The 8.8 is under the truck, but I had to call it quits for the evening,BC killer T-storms rolling in. Tomorrow my plans are to get pinion angle set,DS length measured (stock DS will be shortened) Spring Perches welded on. Possibly have a firm direction on what I'm going to do for shock mts and brake lines. So far for brake lines I have 2 R/side Exploder, and a Dakota center line. Plans are for the 8.8 to get 4.10s while the DS is getting shortened. One more thing, new WS installed on Fri,but not without issues as seen here viewtopic.php?f=2&t=17265 See how things go next week.
  5. Had the WS replaced yesterday. During the install the "kid" must have been in some kind of hurry and did this. With this When I asked the guy about his policy on damage all he said was "sorry...." Imagine how I felt...POd is saying it kindly. Got my camera, took pics, called his Boss/Dad. I ended giving 100 bucks for the install, Boss/Dad said he would personally come down here next week to replace my damaged dash with a used one from the JY. When my dash is fixed to my satisfaction then I told him I would pay the remaining balance 135$. I'm kind of weary of letting them have at my truck again. I offered to call it good on the remaining balance, eat the damaged dash, just so i don't have to let them have at my truck again. Pluses-WS cost 100$ Bucks,Negatives-Damaged dash, although I was going to put a dash cover on it anyway. Is it going to be very easy for them to change the dash pad? Or are they tearing into a project/my truck that I might not be happy with the end result? I'm really worried about ending up with Gremlins or a job that I'm not happy with. Heck, the only persons work that I'd trust is my own,I really don't think that they could, would,or will work to my level of expectations. Besides they have to travel 110mi each way to do the job,I hardly think that it could be cost effective for them. I do have to say it does look pretty good with the visor posing, waiting to be installed. Took the wipers back off cause I still have to repair the linkages with parts from one of the other "Skins" (Native slang for another Indian) AKA one of the other Cherokees. :rotf:
  6. I want to put a Fuel Press Gauge on my fuel rail like in this post viewtopic.php?f=9&t=13235&hilit=fuel+pressure+gauge Trouble is where can I find the adapter that the gauge hooks to the rail with ? I need one that has the 1/8 F NPT 90Deg from the 1/4" flare. One more thing, is a 1/4 flare the same as a -4AN fitting ? Could somebody help me with a part # or link ? :dunno:
  7. That wouldn't have been structurally correct, as the support for the MC comes from the mounting bracket behind the firewall. If I would have drilled where the X's were the support for the MC would have relied solely on the firewall sheet metal, not really a very good idea. You can see in my pics what I am talking about.
  8. I would have, but the JY that I bought the AX-15 from is halfway across the state and Montana is a big state. I bought the trans and accessories sight unseen (delivered by truck) from info I got from the Car-Part.com web site. The JY told me the parts were off of a 99 Cherokee (and according to the bill of lading), Then I never got around to installing these parts till lately. Also since, the MC had a different configuration, I assumed.... it was because of the different years. Last of all, I didnt have any idea that I had a TJ MC, as I had no reason to think or research for otherwise. Oh Well.....Done deal now.
  9. Whoops,Guess I must have missed that one.....sorry BTW Hornbrod, got the package yesterday.
  10. I need an adjustable Track Bar. Is this a decent one? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ADJUSTAB ... 240%3A1318 Or does anybody have a suggestion for one, for a fair price ?
  11. I'd check the trackbar also, worn parts probably not showing themselves until larger tires were added. Larger tires = increased leverage and force on steering components.
  12. Think I got it figured out. As stated before , I'm going to get the lever installed, then all I need is a solid link between the end of the rod where the old XJ cables used to hookup then to where the MJ cables come together.. Really basically just lengthening the pull rod.
  13. Try looking here http://tristarrradiator.com/
  14. How many miles are on your engine? On one of my other vehicles I was getting extremly low oil pressure readings on the guage. I wasnt hearing any "ugly" noises like from oil starvation symptoms so I changed the sending unit, problem solved, oil pressure back in the normal range. IMHO After rereading your post I would think about swapping out the sending unit.
  15. Sounds like its engaged, not unlocking.
  16. I found the conversion done by shelbyluvv on "Project Onyx". Page four viewtopic.php?f=7&t=11834&start=45That was done with a 97 up E-brake assy. Has anybody seen this conversion done with the earlier style E-brake? I guess for the time being I'm just going to cut the hole in the floor, hook the cable up later. This way I can get my interior back in.
  17. First I tried the search, can't seem to find what I want. I have the interior out of Mary Jane, getting ready to put it all back together, but first I want to convert from the foot E-Brake to the XJ style between the seats. Does anybody know who on this forum has done this conversion already? I know I seen it on here somewhere. :dunno: Short of getting these parts from a MJ I'm wanting to do the conversion with parts from one of my XJs 85? 2dr and 89 4dr.
  18. Sweeeeeeet! Thanks much, that answers a lot of questions/problems.
  19. If I use a Dakota rear brake line, will it have the "junction block" built in as part of the brake line? Or do I need a separate junction block. That is the way it is with the stock D35 setup. My plan is to use a r/side line on the left side, hardline both sides to a "junction block" IE: Dakota?
  20. Any nickle you put into a D35 could have gotten you one step closer to a 8.8. Think about that when you are doing a rear end again. :wall: Myself, I'm doing it one time, then moving on to better things, never looking back.
  21. I'll be running 33 12.50 15s on 3.75 BS
  22. Doesn't the 8.8 need some kind of spacers because of it being narrower than a D35 ? Where is a good place to buy these spacers ? This is kind of important to me because I'm doing an 8.8 swap also.(got all my old hardware cut off and ground down tonight)
  23. :help: I guess they sell this seal to get my money and this part doesn't come apart ? Anybody?
  24. BTT One more time :help:
