  2. says he was on here, but you all scared him away??
  3. so the logo is available only in tan or green??
  4. as promised... 89 ford kingpin d60 so thats the last of the 'large' items needed, i think. there are still countless 'medium' purchases, and even more 'small' ones to buy, but at least the difficult to find ones are done with
  5. sweet thanks. in other news, I'm pickin up some bling tomorrow; pics will follow.
  6. havent tried to crank it yet actually (no battery)
  7. any more pics of the big black MJ on Iroks??
  8. update time!! ok so the update is that nothing has happened since the last update, except the fact that i have *part* of a tcase crossmember. yes, i said 'part'. the guy I'm getting it from used to have a fab shop, and had a few of these laying around. well it seems like i got the last one, but he can't find the side plates for it. :fs1: so mating the engine to the rest of the still-out-of-the-truck drivetrain will have to wait a little bit longer. so i decided tonight, after not having any free time in the garage lately, to step up and see what i can figure out with the engine. My findings?? i don't know whats missing, whats necessary, or whats wrong. here's what it looks like right now: now obviously it needs a battery, (and a good cleaning), and the AC lines are missing, but then there are 2 wiring connections that arent attached to anything; one can be seen just above the throttle body, and the other is a bit harder to see, but its just below the vacuum connector and to the left. what are these?? and what should they be attatched to?? and do you guys see anything else thats missing?? i have a Haynes, but the more i stare at it, the dumber i feel :dunce: edit: theres another engine pic in the first set of pics in post #1
  9. XJs and MJs are the same from the back of the door forward, including drivetrain, correct?? just about to pull the trigger on a crossmember built for an XJ, which has long arm brackets built in...
  10. part 2 ( /  / :( ):
  11. wanna build my MY next?? looks amazing
  12. what kind of terrain are you driving (hills vs. flats vs. city) and what kind of mileage are you getting??
  13. in theory, it shouldn't be too hard. find an XJ with the parts you want, and have at it. I'm in the process of swapping the tranny and tcase in my MJ, and finding the big parts is no problem, but finding the right little ones is a PITA. if you can, get them all from the same vehicle, and bring a sharpie and a couple boxes of ziplock bags with you to keep track of all the parts. also, you in UT??
  14. yea the coasting will certainly help, especially on the way home since more than half of my drive is coast-able at highway speeds :)
  15. man, am i glad i found this thread. found an 88 4cyl stick 4x4 shortbed w/140k locally, and wondering how reliable of a DD this would be. obviously, id have to look at the particular truck. it sounds like the 2.5 is a decent engine, but I'm also wondering about fuel consumption, since i drive 80 miles everyday for work, but need to make it through lots of snow. obviously the smaller the tire, the better, so it would stay very stock to help me climb through the mountains at highway speeds to get to work, (i live @4000' and the highest part of my commute is around 7600'). would you go for it?? i have a little subaru that just isnt cutting it right now.....very underpowered
  16. i watch the sun rise every day on my way to work. (up at 530, on the road by 6). i climb parleys canyon heading east to get to work, and watch the first light of the day light up the silhouette of the wasatch range here in UT. and then when i get to work, i get to watch the sun light hit the ftop of park city mountain resort and slowly work its way down. my office, NOT taken today lol
  17. um.....cage that thing ASAP. you have successfully removed all of the structural rigidity from that XJ, leaving your unibody with the strength of cooked spaghetti if you roll. Hell, if you even flex that rig too much without beefing it up, it'll look like a taco. oh, and welcome :waving:
  18. yup, which is why the HP's are so pricey... :(
  19. looks kinda blueish yellow to me :???:
  20. yea, its disgusting. a Kingpin HP Ford dana 60 is like $1200 out here. and THEN you have to build it up  Chevy LP60's are going for about $700, but then you have to clock your TCase which opens up a whole 'nuther can of worms. :grrrr:
  21. depends on what tire size you're going to max out at. if you're gonna stay at 37's, those axles will be overkill, especially the 14 bolt. not to mention that with 'smaller' tires, the bottom portion on the 14 bolt differential hangs super low, and will be a rock magnet. that being said, i will be running a 60/14 in my MJ eventually. The 14 bolt is a pretty good axle in stock form, and for relatively cheap, can be built to bullet proof specs. Shave the bottom of the diff, an do a disc brake swap, and youre in business.
  22. so the split for parts is 94 down and 95 up??
  23. yes. yes?? yes. not yet...
  24. :like:
  25. ok so after MORE reading, i guess i won't need the 73 cj5 bearing/bushing. the ax15 has a new slave that the PO put in; should i get the ax15 master as well?? or will the BA10 master work??
