this. we ALWAYS tell someone where we're going. even posting up something on facebook is helpful, (and can double as a way to make your friends jealous that youre out wheeling and theyre not ;) )

ive got a baby buzz box, but i don't trust it or myself welding suspension stuff. I'm gonna try my hand at some bumpers in the spring, but it doesnt have the power to safely weld something like a UCA mount. in other news, my gf and i are meeting with a lender this evening, to hopefully start the ball rolling on buying our first house! looking for a place with a 2 car garage at the very minimum, as well as an RV pad so once i get a trailer, its got a fenced-in, out of sight place to stay.

i wish it was that easy. we just moved, so i went from having a tight garage squeeze the chief into, to having to park it outside with no power nearby. And other than my hand tools, all my tools are in storage. trying to find someone to finish up some welding, but everyone i know is in the middle of their own projects, and the cheapest quote ive gotten from a shop was $800+ just to weld up the UCA mounts and the anti-wrap bar.

Going Rate For Full Width Axles?
johnny quest replied to 87Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
so true. i ended up with a KP cause thats what i found first, but the BJ60s are fine for 3/4's of wheelers. and those that swear by the KPs are usually such hardwheelers that the entire axle is custom parts anyway. any plans for brackets? i went with the combo coil/shock/arm brackets from ballistic fab. nice product, and i personally didnt have issues, but alot of people have. -
have you figured out if there are any others MJRVs? or is yours the only one?

it came home tonight!! :D and i drove it from the street to its temporary home like 60 ft away. first time i've ever driven it!! its the little things :) still needs: brake pads and rotors, shocks on all 4 corners, rear driveshaft, UCA mounts, rear diff cover and fluid. I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff, but its nice that the 'to-do' list is getting shorter

yea in boston its a battlefield for parking spots. most people drive sh*t cars that don't care if they get dinged or scratched

IT RUNS!!!!!!!!! a buddy of mine has been busting @$$ on it, and it runs!! seems to run pretty strong too, so the PO mustve been true to his word when he said the 4.0 was recently rebuilt. It idles evenly, even with some pretty old gas in the tank. The cherry bomb is gonna have to go, but thatll be put on the back burner for now. Front DS length is PERFECT for using stock shafts, just need a conversion joint. rear will have to be custom made, which is happening this week. Then i just need a bit of welding on the UCA, and the spring perches on the rear axle, along with the traction bar. oh, and shocks. probably gonna go with cheapo's to get me on t he road/trail, and then i can save up for some nice bilsteins ;)

Going Rate For Full Width Axles?
johnny quest replied to 87Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
check out my build thread. i got a 89 hp kp d60 for $600, and a 14 bolt for $300. factor in another 200-300 for brackets and you're in business. i went SOA in the rear and barely fit 37s without trimming. havent flexed it yet though. if you're goin tons, find the right ford d60. stay away from the dodge 60s and the chevys diffs are on the wrong side. once you have your 60, find a matching width 14 bolt. newer 14s come stock with ebrakes. feel free to ask more questions. -
hoping to get a 'green light' on safety and emissions by christmas. its gonna be a coin toss....

don't the mud guys usually go with a narrow tire? all the ones ive seen seem to want a super tall tire thats very narrow, so it cuts through slop so it can get some traction on the harder stuff underneath. i feel like the dual front tires would just push mud like a plow.

the overhang looks emense. if these werent so rare, (do we know how many exist?) id put in a 3rd axle in tandem behind the existing rear. and JENSSEN, mine would look amazing behind there too!! 4bt conversion with dually d60/14bolt swap.... -
