  1. My severely belated birthday present! (I told my dad to hold off the purchase until they went on sale)
  2. Only thing I can think of is maybe it slowly loosened and worked its way out until the compression popped it out. But even that doesn't seem likely. You're right, that's weird. :dunno:
  3. Yup. That MJ was built by Rob Bryce and was one of the first built MJs I found on the web way back when. Had to do a bit of searching through the ol' harddrive but here you go:
  4. If there's one thing that Ford was always consistant with though the years, it was being inconsistant.
  5. Is this what you're looking for?
  6. 2 things, -All MJs have the extra bracing on the lower control arm mounts. -This bracing makes it, um, challenging to remove the lower control arm mounts.
  7. I used the Bronco trac bar, cut the ends off it, rotated the bend up so it cleared the diff better (the bend points forward in the bronco since the track bar was pretty much parallel with the ground), then had the axle bushing welded back on along with the bushing from the axle end of the stock Jeep trac bar welded to the frame end of the new bar and used Rustys track bar bracket up there (with small spacers around the bolt since the holes in the bracket were slightly larger than the hole through the Jeep bushing). It is bastardized to say the least. If I had to do it all over again, I'd go with rod ends and tube.
  8. There's always the possibility that he's telling the "truth" as he knows it, and the guy that sold it to him was lying his @$$ off. :D So instead of being a lying bastard, the ebay guy was just a gulliblel idiot. :shake:
  9. I'm 20 minutes south of Detroit. I haven't a clue what the status of the book is. All I know is, I've got mine.
  10. Cross the border and swing by my house some day and I'll do my best to walk you through the details on your truck. Plus I'll let you thumb through the new "Jeep Cherokee builders guide" book. Pages 86-88 are the best, :D
  11. Almost...
  12. But only most rangers. I've read that later models with the 4.0 v6 or the FX-4 package got the strong 8.8, just not with disks. Be careful with the backspacing. I've got 4" of it on my 8" rims with 12.5" wide tires. That's the most I could find in a reasonably priced steel rim.
  13. Or just extend your bumpstops to keep the tall tires out of the sheetmetal.
  14. Huh? :???: F-150 8.8s are 31 spline, just like the Explorer 8.8. Or you could go with an truck 9" and get the highpinion 3rd member from truehi9.com That's my plan. :D
  15. Fullwidths RULE!!

    My MJ hates me

Then I'd get a new new axle. That's a lot of money to me. But I guess it'll be practically brand new after this.

I'd just go get a new axle. It'd be cheaper. :D
  18. The gas tank is also bolted to the bed. I've seen the underside of my truck and that bed is never coming off for any reason. Rust sucks. I don't recommend the stupid flex tube (it got punctured the first trip out when it contacted the front driveshaft) but I routed my pipe up close to the trans. Seemed like a good idea at the time, I just used the wrong material. After the flex tube debackle I replaced it with a stock piece. Haven 't hit it on anything yet so I'm just going to run it that way until I do. I have more pressing matters for my limited funds now that I'm building my '90 up. :D Flex tube Stock:
  19. It's never too late. You should easily be able to sell the 4.0L to raise enough funds for a 3.4L block. :D But since you have a complete XJ, it is technically more possible than before. Get a shop manual for the 92 XJ. You'll need to swap in the entire drivetrain and wire harness and dash, plus the front sheetmetal (for the 4.0L radiator crossmember and hood latches) and hood.
  20. I would go with 4.10s if you're buying an axle, 4.56 if you're paying to get them installed.
  21. Not that I've heard of.
  22. Hung up?!? Just hit it harder! :brows: What are you going to do, break it? That's a busted 60 shaft and a busted 70 shaft. The 60 supposedly happened right after this pic was snapped, the 70 broke 50 ft later. Those are 37s and I believe the dodge is running a 5.9L.
  23. I'll work on getting some window stickers. Oh, and I called on the magnets today and they won't be ready till late next week. I hate stuff that has to be out-sourced. The stickers will all be done in-house so if I go in to talk with him on Monday, they should be done before the magnets. :headpop:
  24. I'd run a Hi-Pin 60 with 35s. :D Nay-sayers be damned!
