  1. According to the member list, you registered back in June :D If you forgot your super duper secret password, Pete ought to be able to reset it for ya.. Welcome! Jeff
  2. That is AWESOME...I LOVE it! On a side note, my wife (who's no real enthusiast of my MJ) was surprised when I told her one of the guys on the board was from Norway, and actually became a bit intrigued. Wait 'till I show her this...... we have glass endtables and coffee tables in our living room too. Time to mod them a bit :D Jeff
  3. Not much to it, they're basically the same valve except the XJ one doesn't have the extra rear "safety" line circuit in it. You just have to cap off/pull out that line on your MJ. The rears then get fed by the bottom front circuit on the prop valve (vs. the out-the-front one on the MJ valve, which isn't there on the XJ one) Jeff

Welcome to the club. You'll see anything on here from mild to wild, so whatever your MJ plans are you should be covered. I drove thru Knoxville last fall on my way to Lawrenceburg to pick up a free engine for my MJ :-D Nice town, but you gotta get that debacle called I40 fixed around it! Jeff
  5. Really? That takes chutzpah. Sounds like you have enough there to put together a decent rig (at least). Check the r&p's on that '87 with the 2.5/auto. If that trans is an AW4, you should have 4.56's sitting under it :D Jeff
  6. There's a small-ish one right beside Oceana that I went to once, but it's a real mess. Plan on getting very muddy if ya go there LOL If you have a free weekend or day off during the week, and want to take a small roadtrip up here to Richmond, there are 2 excellent U-pull yards here I go to. I'd be glad to meet up with ya and show them to you. At any given time there are at least 8-10 XJ's and one or 2 MJ's in each. Jeff
  7. Thanks for making us all feel old, Kid  Jeff
  8. Take a look at this MJ on eBay right now.....somethin' isn't right about it. http://tinyurl.com/aphql It's a 4.0L, with a 4 speed manual tranny :?: Unless it has a BA10/5 that lost 5th gear and the PO swapped an AX4 shift knob on it LOL Sad thing is it only has 7K miles on it, and a nice bed cap too.... Jeff
  9. I thought those timers were resettable:shrug:.....something about a small hole on the backside covered with a piece of tape. Pull the tape off and insert a small screwdriver (or toothpick) and it resets Dunno for sure, I've never had one to fool with, but I read it somewhere on the internet so it must be true :D Jeff
  10. Angle up a bit more with the camera.......we need better shots of your posters!!!! :D :D :D Jeff
  11. The man has some toys, don't he? And a carpeted garage.......I don't even HAVE a garage to put carpet in :D Glad you asked, I'm curious too! Spill the beans 512tr Jeff
  12. Here's a pic to illustrate the point (YJ on left, XJ/MJ on right). Length difference is barely noticeable, but you can see the space inside the yoke ears between the two. (sorry about the crappy pic....I was just learning how to work a dig cam then  ) Jeff Image Not Found
  13. You better build a seperate cage around the passenger seat if I ride shotgun with you LOL... j/k, looks nice. I might take a ride up there this weekend and check that place out. Jeff
  14. Just like DirtyComanche said, plus the shock mounts are in the wrong place. You'll have to incorpoate new ones to go along with new spring pads. I got an XJ one out of the junkyard last month to swap into my MJ, but I'm trading a local guy even up for an extra MJ one he has so I won't have to worry about all that :D I just have to regear it to match the front. Jeff
  15. Seems like it's workin' out pretty well from this side of the fence :-D Any admin issues you're having? Maybe we can drop the "test" and go full ahead...the little baby seems to be growing up LOL. 180 members and 2600 posts in like what, 4 months or so?? Jeff

auto trannies are bad juju to me...give me a manual anyday. The escort is only the second vehicle I've ever owned that was an auto, and it suck-diddly-ucks. I can hear the pump spool up in the mornings, when it doesn't go forward....I just have to drop it in R and move a foot or so, then things work o.k. The really bad problem is that it seems to drop into OD waaayy too soon, and there's no way to control it other than pedal position (is there any way to splice the wiring and put a manual toggle on that circuit?). It drops, then lugs the engine, then the ENTIRE driveline starts wobbling uncontrollably (think deathwobble, but in the driveline instead of the suspension). I can either mash the pedal and pull it out of OD, or else drop the shifter into D, and it goes away (till the next time). I might try changing the fluid to see if that helps any, or if it kills it then so be it. But the darn thing gets like 40+ MPG.....I can't think of getting rid of it just now 8) I'm thinking a 5 spd to replace the auto, and that thing oughta be pretty fun to drive. Jeff
  17. Make sure whoever you ask knows what "stroker" parts are, or you might get some strange stares :D Santa didn't bring me anything for the MJ per se, but I did get the lightweight coveralls and mechanic's gloves I asked for, so I guess that counts. And if gifts to yourself count, I'm getting myself 4.56's and a locker LOL (but not for another month or so) Jeff
  18. My el crapo clutch master I bought from Pep boyz lasted me all of about 6 months, a bit over 15K miles FWIW.... I'm gonna try to limp it along a few more months 'till I can afford a dealership one. I paid da man, both now and later :( Jeff

    stereo?

I'm running a blingin' $20 Kmart Rampage! head unit (all the lights in the faceplate burned out so I use a flashlight at night to change stations). That's pushing the 1.31 jigawatts of sound thru the stock door speakers in front, and a tricked up Walmart speaker box behind the bench. If you really turn it up, it tickles your kidneys :D Jeff

Actually, the 'scort has a slowly dying AOD tranny...now on some mornings I have to go a few feet in reverse before any of the forward drive gears work :( I'm swapping cylinder heads on it in a couple of weeks, then I'm thinking the next project (before the MJ rebuild) is gonna be a manual tranny swap (courtesy of the junkyard, of course...) Anyways, welcome to the group Patrick! Jeff
  21. Wonder if an earlier model Dakota bench would fit? Might have to take some measurements next time I'm at the 'yard.. Jeff
  22. I was thinking more swapping your stuff onto it and adding a clutch, but whatever works for ya, I guess :D Jeff
  23. Taken from the MJ Yahoo board: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/jee ... sage/22885 Doesn't sound like too bad a deal to me. Jeff
  24. Try disco-ing the o2 sensor. Sounds like you got a problem in closed loop operation. Jeff
  25. Stickers, I got stickers.....each time I buy an el cheapo muffler from Advance or Batozone, I add a sticker to the toolbox on the bed. Currently, I'm sporting a Thrush on one side, and a Dynomax on the other, plus a small American flag. They're covering up rust, too  Jeff
