  1. FYI the Eliminator box with the decals sucks to sand blast=) Most of the bottom rust will be replaced with thicker metal panels of the same design only braced. I like what you have done, plus the green grass, as opposed to the brown of winter.
  2. My wife is a preschool teacher and that pic would be priceless.
  3. I have a 6.0 F250. For the size of the vehicle you are moving it still makes me smile. Plus with the exhaust and loud turbo whine, you can't beat it. I am an aviation guy so maybe that makes a difference.
  4. You could always go with silver. Jeep has about the best silver paint color on the market IMHO. I know mercedes had a silver exterior and blue interior option.
  5. No I have tried several different brands of filter with no change, even different weights of oil.
  6. I have had a G.C. 4.7 for about 6-7 years now and it is a snappy little motor. I have the quieter magnaflow muffler and it sounds nice and throaty. My only issue started about 7,000 miles ago. When you first start it up it chatters for a minute or two unless you rev it up(which makes it go away faster) and then goes away.
  7. I have a 00 4.7v8 grand cherokee that I fought overheating issues after taking it in to the shop for some work. Turns out somehow when they flushed the system they clogged up the radiator. Long story short everything in the cooling system was replaced before I ended up putting in a new radiator. It turned out to be a plugged radiator.
  8. Anybody have any experience or websites to get a good quality water pump ideally at a decent price? This is for the SBC in my comanche.
  9. Check your widths on the CJ stuff
  10. I am down to a remote oil cooler, and remote radiator unless I can come up with something else. It is far from a DD just something to keep me out of trouble. My issue with the bed mount radiator is that it will cook everything in the bed. I haven't looked into the dimensions of a corvette rad, but I am running out of ideas. This is my last ditch effort to start cheap and move up to get this thing to the point I can take it out and run it.
  11. Water pump seems to be working properly and the system is free of air. My question is since the radiator is cooler to the touch when idiling as opposed to reved up, does tht mean I am not getting enough coolant flow? My original thought was to slow down the flow, but maybe I should speed it up. :wall:
  12. Ok I am running a small block chevy with a custom built aluminum radiator that is roughly the same size as the stock 4.0 radiator, with 2 electric fans that run full time no mechanical fan. Anyway I have a 160 thermostat in right now and in 60-70 degree weather will overheat after 30 min of crawling around (240ish). Anyway my first thought was to slow down the flow through the radiator with a restrictor to maybe get more contact time in the radiator. This is the link that I followed. http://gojeep.willyshotrod.com/HowtoRadiatorRestrictor.htm. I started with the 1/2 and it is still overheating, but this seemed to slow the process slightly. Here is my other thought. Even with the engine temps up to 200 (before and after the restrictor)I can put my hand firmly against the radiator(in front of the fans) when it is idling and it is barely warm. With my hand on the radiator I run the throttle up and in a sec or two I can't keep my hand on the radiator. SO with that being said should I be trying to speed the flow up through the radiator? I have tried no thermostat at all and it still eventually overheats just at a slower pace. I want to try everything I can with my current radiator setup before I replace it, so I am open to any ideas.
  13. Find an auto paint shop and pick up some PPG AUE-100 single stage paint. They can mix it for you in any color, and you add the hardener and shoot. It is relatively cheap, durable, and the glossy looks great. I painted a boat trailer with and it laid down smooth, and doesn't have a timeline on the recoat window. Cheap gun and aue-100 all the way You can also paint it right over metal if I remember correct.
  14. To tall for my taste, but yet still sexy as hell
  15. Really
  16. It is eco-friendly. And yes you don't have the huge sand mess. I started just sand blasting out in the driveway(gravel) with cheap fine sand you can get at the hardware store. But with aluminum and softer metals a guy had given me a big bag of the sodium bicarbonate that he had left over, but he is no longer around and I never asked where he had gotten it.
  17. Outside of the off topic discussion that is on here, this takes the cake for the dumbest thread I have read yet. Sell the truck and quit your bitchin. :redX: Orrrrr do like the majority do on here and make it your second vehicle. I am sure I missed something, like you are a 4 time cancer survivor or something that will make me look like an @$$, but you sound like a pity me kinda guy, maybe I am wrong. Your choices in life got you to where you are now, with a broken down 95 pickup and an old jeep(and a whole list of old junk in your sig). Like it has been mentioned, sell the truck or quit bitching on here. Sorry after wasting the time to read though this post I had to post something.

    Seriously?

We got 3-4" but it was gone by today. This is the first year I can remeber that we had an inch or more of snow the entire winter. It was a crazy long depressing winter, and I love snow.
  19. Yeah it works good. You can run it through a regular sand blaster pot, or buy the equipment they sell for it. You can take the paint off an aluminum can without distorting the can. I was going to use it as an eco friendly way to strip airplane paint, but it wasn't passed yet in the regs. The baking soda explodes when it hits the metal removing the paint, unlike sand and other media.
  20. Where is a good place to buy bulk sodium bicarbonate? Does anyone know if there are any chain stores that would carry this in 50 lb bags or bigger. I am looking to strip a bed down and don't really want to use sand or traditional media.
  21. I have been on here a while and still haven't got the hang of how to search for stuff. So say I want to search for trailers, more specificly MJ truck bed trailers. Anytime I search it turns into a wild goose chase of people who either typed the word trailer somewhere in the years of posts, or random stuff. I always get side tracked by something, and then never end of finding what I am looking for. One post that came up was "snowmobile trailer" and I ended up reading an entire post of people cuttiing up a mj and putting it on a snowmobile trailer. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the post, but It didn't answer any of my questions, or even bring up any pictures of MJ trailers.
  22. I like the vents. Makes these trucks easier to identify in the weeds when driving down the back roads.
  23. One of these days I will get one put together. I am not really a keep a camera around person, so I don't have much for pictures of the initial stuff....but I will get something up.
  24. It made the trip with no issue. Thanks again for the 2x4s and straps. If you ever find yourself down here for anything I owe you one. Good luck with your truck it is coming along nicely.
  25. I called a place that had a mint condition no rust short bed, and the guy told me he just crushed it a few months ago :fs1: . Tail lights, tailgate and all. I about called him a monster...lol. These beds need a refuge somewhere. The ones I call on have been in storage for years, and either have been destroyed by being moved around, or allowed to sit until there is nothing left but dust. It is a cruel world.
