No Dana 44 thats a 2WD axle or D30. That 2WD also has a transfer case skid and tow hooks! HA!
They also use the older style gas tank instead of the plastic one like the 97+ uses.
The 2.5 that we know and sorta love was used in the first few years in china, but then was dropped in favor of a mitsubishi engine and a chinese made engine:

Some of the models have brushed AL looking interior trim, which I think looks classy:
They use a 5x5 8.25 rear end with disk brakes, that has a wierd looking hub that has led some to speculate that they are semi or full float rears:
The Jeep 2500 is such a weird combination of old new and other parts that I see something new every time I look at those pictures, and many things are the type of thing only the trained eye can pick up on.
