    Starman:

I'm more into real estate personally. But the gold vault sounds nice too. Still, it would be nice to be rich enough to blast a 50K tesla roadster into space. It's one thing to have 50K to spend on a recreational toy tesla roadster. Its another to have enough to shoot that roadster into space on a whim never to be seen again.

    Starman:

    I wouldn't mind having a portfolio.
  3. Same, 88 no build sheets.
  4. Short video showing the interior harness work:
  5. Got the fuse box in place today and started laying out the interior harness's, The dash harness's and engine bay are easy enough to deal with since they pretty much sit in the same place for the MJ as the XJ. However the body harness is a little different, today I placed it in the cab as is and didn't like how it was working out since the harness was meant to work with the 4 door XJ. I stripped out the rear door wiring for the courtesy light and power windows, as well as the rear overhead light wiring. I still need to pull out the speaker wiring, rear wiper, and defrost wiring. I also then need to figure out how to arrange the remainder of the rear light wiring. the plugs used at the back of the XJ behind the spare tire will reach part way, but are not weatherproof connectors so they really shouldn't be used under the bed as-is. I stripped the harness wrap bare so I could move some things around, but I am attempting to avoid a million splices in the harness.
  6. Honestly don't bother......I was just saying that IF you found a KJ diesel being parted that it originally came with the LSD. I went on car-part for your area and started looking at options, there are a fair number from regular junkyards around with 3.73s and varying prices. Also note that the KK liberty and dodge nitro have the same rear end, but only in 3.21 and 3.73, but I don't know how different other things may be on it. The KJ and KK are VERY similar vehicles, so its likely one of those would work for you. However think through what front axle you will get. XJs that you want to get your front axle from will likely have 3.55s. 3.73s are basically no existent in XJs and in HP d30s. So if you got 3.73s in your rear end then you would need to purchase a set of 3.73s for the front. Also IIRC the 3.73 LSD will not work with 4.10s. Just consider the cost of hassle of either regearing a front or regearing a rear.
  7. Yes you can find them with LSD. ALL KJ diesels sold in the us had 3.73 LSD rears. KJs are pretty common in the pick n pull junkyards here, and people also part them on Craigslist. Car-part.com would be a good resource to look for one near you too, but verify the gear ratios and LSD before purchase. Ruff stuff is the maker of the spring under kit I bought. Open my video on YouTube and it's in a playlist, part one shows a little more of the swap and there are a few talking about the springs I used as well.
  8. Generally I set the column once and then it doesn't move for my seating position. But it is nice to be able to adjust it when needed.
  9. Here is a video I took showing some of the info for the KJ rear axle swap.
  10. Yet again a recommendation for the 03+ KJ liberty rear end for the swap. Disk brakes and the cables should be compatible with your MJ parking brake setup. Overall about as easy as it gets. For trans mission and transfer case I'd recommend 96+. The 96+ has a different rear seal in the xfer case and it will not leak fluid if the drive shaft is removed. For front axle the 99 was the last year of the HP, so I'd take the newest you can find in the best condition. Make sure your gear ratios match. You can find parts from multiple vehicles and probably wind up with a better setup than trying to find one donor vehicle.
  11. We use CAN mostly for distributed IO communications. Modbus we see at higher level integration between different sub systems and master control. EG plant DCS/BOP and a VFD controller, pump controller, or primer mover governor. Industrial CAN open its a little harder to setup between different manufacturers devices, so you mostly see modbus or OPC as the interface protocols.
  12. This is much better for mobile now. Before I had to click through several menus to get to forums, now with everything on the main page it's easier to access.
  13. No can bus on XJs. It's Chrysler CCD, however Alexia a while back post some info in converting canbus to CCD so we could keep the stock gauges in XJs or TJ running an aftermarket ecu or engine swap with a canbus ecu. My diesel ecu supports canbus, but was primarily meant to work with Chrysler PCI bus. The newer TJs use PCI bus so I am using that tj cluster in my XJ dash for the swap. Can is a useful proticol. We use it in industrials controls often. automotive can is a little different than industrials controls, but it all works the same really.
  14. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=98&t=78418&sid=a31445c33a653afce6618a8b9ed2be60 I've used it to delete EGR off a couple of Jeeps, as well as load a "hot" tune into one. My 05 CRD is preF37 so its got a unique software revision so there are not any free tunes sitting out there available. I have to find the maps and then adjust them myself.
  15. I'm not a big fan of wedges. Better to set it right once.
  16. The cheap wire feed welder would work for tacking things together. Best bet bet would be to do some social networking and find a fellow local jeeper willing to help.
  17. Freerider came over and helped me burn on the seat brackets. Note the copper weld through primer I put down. It's a conductive primer so that you don't leave something as bare steel once you weld over it. After that I cleaned the floor with Acetone and got to work with the POR15:
  18. Probably not. Your best bet would be to mock everything up and then find someone in the area willing to bring over a welder in exchange for a case of beer. Heck if you can even get everything set and hold the pinion angle right you might be able to bring the rear end to someone to weld.
  19. Checked out some of your other videos, nice. I liked this one:
  20. This is my next project, its the TJ cluster I am using for my MJ, I had to order some more equipment for this unit. The 02-06 TJ and 02-07 KJ similar years of WJ have no external eeprom, so the method is a little different.
  21. Well, I'm a little late, by either hours or years depending on how you look at it, but I uploaded my video last night:
  22. If you like send me your clusters and I will program them to correct the miles and vin number.
  23. I'll post a video showing the equipment and the process soon.
  24. I think most people would say it only becomes an issue when someone is doing it in an attempt to defraud. I took video of the process I used, I have a cluster where half the gauges have failed, I showed how to clone the original and load it to the new cluster. Gotta edit it and get it online.
  25. Yes. Though I don't think I am going to try and do all the body cladding the 2500 has, and I think I will go with a custom steel front bumper, and then figure out the flare situation. Look back at my build thread to like 2008, early pages, I have photos of the parts from then, been keeping them in storage for years. I got spares of some things too.
