  1. From Fox News Article: Officials said bin Laden’s body, which was in U.S. custody, was given a sea burial. Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/05/01/us ... z1LIHMWPEF My mouth dropped open when I heard MSNBC say that less than 24 hours and he is given a sea burial, the one type of burial where there will never be a digging up of a body in case there are questions. And, I think I heard MSNBC say it was part of honoring Islamic law? Who ordered that Islamic Law is to be honored above and beyond showing by irrefutable evidence and not just "Hey, DNA" that the worse mass murderer ever is really dead??? Even if this is Islamic Law, who cares in this situation???? Are there pictures of the body????? This is from a recent news article: Not everyone on Capitol Hill is convinced the release would be a good idea. The Washington Post reports that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, R-Mich., would say only that that "it's something that we're gonna have to work through." "We want to make sure that we maintain dignity, if there was any, in Osama bin Laden, so that we don't inflame problems other places in the world, and still provide enough evidence that people are confident that it was Osama bin Laden," Rogers said. Durn right we want it proven beyond a shadow of doubt BinLaden is dead.
  2. it's a Remington 760 big game rifle. http://www.wisnersinc.com/additional_info/Remington_760.htm I love this gun! I wish California laws would allow me to own one You can't even own one????? Get enough like minded Californians to push the issue and get-er-done! Betcha NRA would help!
  3. "my dogs are named Smith and Wesson. Each barks 6 times." Friend has this posted on his front door.
  4. I ask because my wife has always thought the metro's were neat, and if I had the bucks ..... She wants a 'virtable though.
  5. Nope, streetjeep2.5 is right it's a Metropolitan. the one by the barn also?
  6. I do see a very rusty metropolitan with no glass in one pic, and THINK I see a yellow one with glass next to the barn. Am I right on the yellow one?
  7. Put this in this But this is all the farther I am Image Not Found
  8. click my link to comanche club, main page comes up, and sometimes it then jumps to this site without me doing a thing: http://www.webring.org/hub/comanche
  9. emailed them. They said "you have to change the perches for some applications". Didn't say what it is now set up to fit.
  10. How can they advertize a rear differential for both cherokee and comanche? Perch problem!
  11. My wife says the challenge for Burns kids in the 1960's was to see if you could make it to Bend in less than an hour!!!!
  12. Ewww, Burns! I haven't been there in five years and don't miss it a bit. A fun drive in that part of Oregon is on Hwy 26 west of John Day through the gorge near the fossil beds. Did that one in our Escape a few weeks ago. Surprisingly scenic for what it is. Government Camp is a lot of fun too, but not in the snow. Going through the Warm Springs reservation on 26 has some white knuckle stretches for flatlanders when breaching the rimrock. My wife spent her high school years at Burns, the mid 1960's. Used to catch 26 coming in from Eugene/Springfield. Always loved coming through the lava rock beds in the spring! Also liked stopping at Lost Lake.
  13. Not as long, but taking Government Pass at Mount Hood in Oregon has some of the same switchbacks and deep dropoffs. First time wife and I took our "always lived in flat nebraska" Son-in-Law and his son over it, absolute silence in the car! When we lived in Oregon, drove it quite often traveling from Coos Bay to Burns and after Burns, to Redmond, Oregon.
  14. I've seen this before, but not sure where. Here? Anyway, here is an engine swap!
  15. for 87 4x2. And Frame Bracket if needed. Any thoughts on what will work from other jeeps besides the XJ? Will 4x4 one work on a 4x2?
  16. WOOOPPPSSSSS! Not sway bar, TRACK Bar!
  17. does weigh more. Looking to get Grand Cherokee v8 springs or the heavy duty 4.0 springs. Right now my PU sits level, and a bit down in the front w/o a load would be good so it more or less levels out with a load.
  18. I need a new sway bar, I am fairly sure. Gotta look and see. It's an 87 4x2. With the fact I hope to put a 327 chevy in it, what is available with the intention of leaving it stock height? I saw on another thread a zj V8 bar is suggested for a 4x4. What about 4x2? If I need a bracket also if the hole is wobbled out, what options are there?
  19. One answer to why a 327. It was ..............FREEEEEEE!!!!! And, neither Novak nor Advance Adapters make brackets for AMC V8's going in and XJ or MJ, and I am LOUSY at fabrication.
  20. Upgraded to 4.0 before seeing this, and had no problems at all with bookmarks, etc. 'Course, I have a real computer, a MAC! :brows:
  21. Was returning from being at the Seminary for 4 years and going to my first church and were at wifes mom and dad's place in Redmond Oregon when we saw the new 1984 XJ. We liked them. Didn't like the little engine offerings, though. Then, in 1994, bought a new XJ 4door 4x2 4.0 auto. AWESOME RIDE! Kept it until February of last year, 247,000 miles and really no trouble. Even only aligned the front end once. SOLD ON JEEPS!!! Found my used 247,000 mile 87 MJ 4x2 in Edgewood in Washington State in 2002. Had it ever since. Overhauled the 2.5 twice (2nd time the fault of ill fitting header), original rear end and tranny, and I think all front suspension. Changed steering gear (manual). BTW, traded the XJ in on a Patriot. Love it also! Uh, yea, sold on JEEPS!!!! Working toward a 327 in my MJ, maybe. Streetjeep, you know!
  22. I have an 87 2.5 Delta Camshaft Company that was in Tacoma Washington did make and as of 6 months ago still made a "performance" regrind. http://www.deltacam.com/ I have one in my 2.5. And, double the comment about opening up the exhaust. I have a free flowing CAT and a single in dual out Flowmaster. Did have a Clifford header that REALLY helped but it never fit right and I had to modify it. It's now gone.
  23. Engine disassembled and in boxes. Image Not Found Working on what to do about heads. With one original to the engine 68.8 cc head and one early 1970's 350 75cc head, I want to get a matching pair. Didn't know which way to go so spent a LOT of time on the tri5 (55,56,57 chevy) website talking to guys who know small block chevys inside out, many chevy mechanics. Can't afford a pair of Word Products stock replacement heads so fairly sure I will try to find a match for the 350 head that has larger valves and larger intake runners than the stock heads and are called "the best stock 4 barrel heads." If I use Keith Black pistons I will be able to maintain a compression ratio slightly under the 8.75 to one stock ratio but also loose some of the "quench" area and this helps eliminate predetination which makes it easier to run 87 octane. Sooooo, the hunt is on! But first, take the block, crank, rods and pistons to the machine shop to be evaluated! :smart:
  24. Yea, I saw Eagles also. But 665 bucks to 475 bucks means Ohio looks lots better! The only reason for looking at possibly a new crank is #1 rod was getting ready to leave the block. But, its still on there. Take a look at the last pictures on my build thread viewtopic.php?f=7&t=28786 and you see the rod barely hanging on to the crank. If I have to go more than .020 on the journal I prefer a new crank, and only 4340's are available except in rebuilt. Plus, this engine was put in and used in a farm truck and got some hard work, so the stock crank could be fatigued also. Machine shop will tell me.
  25. Anyone familiar with them? The only place so far that I can find a new 327 chevy crankshaft.
