He is a beautiful dog. Is his name Zeus? He and the biodiesel sticker almost make up for the KJ in the pic. ;) Does he use the dome light as a chew toy? Willy

So far they are fine. Laying around sleeping as usual. If either of them has trouble it will probably be Axle since he grew up with Roscoe. Moab was already a year old when we found him, plus I don't know that anything could make him unhappy. They do a good job of keeping each other occupied when they aren't sleeping. Willy

Thanks everybody. I work from home and it's even been hard to walk down stairs to the kitchen for a drink. He was almost always sleeping at the foot of the stairs during the day. I try to cheer myself up with the other two. Willy

The worlds Fastest Comanche

Are the side markers at every 1/2 mile? Willy -
The steering linkage is completely different. WJs do not use the inverted Y setup. The tie rod does not attach to the drag link. It attaches to the passenger knuckle. The drag link also attaches to the passenger knuckle like this: This should give you a good idea of what you need. Willy

Here's a pic of some of the differences. I've got at least three different types of D30 unibearing hubs in my collection. Willy

Roscoe passed last night. He was almost 14 years old. He's been around since I was in high school. He was one of the most well mannered, best behaved dogs I have ever known. He never begged and was always polite. I knew this was coming fairly soon. He had really slowed down over the past year. He couldn't see or hear much anymore, and he didn't have as much energy. He is missed and will always be remembered. Willy

Don't look too close then. You might not be so impressed. I don't know that you can consider this a quick build. We've had this for just over two years and I don't think we've put more than 1,000 miles on it. I hope to drive it quite a bit more once I get this cooling stuff complete. But, I'll probably just find something else to change that will move it back into the garage for an extended stay. Willy

I think meth heads have probably already scrapped any power lines that are still accessible. :ack: It's really not that difficult to make the battery cables with stuff you should be able to get from the local hardware store. Just need the cable, cable lugs, and some solder. Add some heat shrink tubing depending upon how fancy you want to make it look. Remove some insulation from the end of the cable, melt some solder in the cable lug, stick the cable in the lug, and hold for a few seconds while it cools. Willy

The radiator and cooler installed. BLHTAZ is sending me a heater control valve. I also need to replace the thermostat, install the generic overflow reservoir, and figure out what I need to do with the SPAL controller. Willy

Some cooling upgrades. :D Converting to an open cooling system with a CSF 3 core radiator. Transmission cooler. Converting to dual electric fans with a SPAL controller. Willy

Made some 1/0 gauge battery cables and picked up these nice battery terminals to use with them. Willy

Project "Eliminator"

Is it possibly the differential vent line and not the brake line? Willy -
This is a very ignorant statement. ANY alcohol causes impairment. Please educate yourself and hopefully you will reconsider risking the lives of those who happen to be sharing the road with you. Willy

I just wanted to see that pic again. that pic is 15 miles from the nearest paved road. stopped to have lunch and drink a cold beverage. Darren may be a little guy but one bud light is not going to put him over the legal limit. BLHTAZ need the stick pulled out of his butt..... any takers??? Why? He obviously has a good point. Drinking and driving is moronic, no matter how little. Just because it is socially acceptable doesn't make it right. Willy

Renix Radiator Temperature Sensor
reson46 replied to reson46's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks, that's what I thought. :clapping: Willy -
Does the temperature sensor on the driver's side of the radiator only control the auxiliary fan? Does the computer use it to make any decisions? Thanks, Willy

I'm sure my opinion means nothing in your time/benefit analysis, but I would love to see that build. :D Willy -
Funny you should mention that. I was looking at the prototype set today and thinking to myself; I really need to get those done. We've just been so busy with JK stuff lately... Yes, we will be offering metal tail lights with LED's in them. We hope to have them available by Christmas. Any pics? I was thinking about making a set of those too. Willy

Crap! I even looked for an existing thread. I didn't look hard enough. :thwak: Willy

Thanks. At first I thought you mistyped cute instead of duty. Willy

Bushwackers have to be about the worst modification to any vehicle, but they may just be the most sane addition to this one. Willy

I felt it was necessary in my case to add gussets/triangulation to assist in side to side deflection. I knew at some point I would end up in a situation where it wouldn't be a straight pull from the rear. Flat plate, even 1/4", will bend fairly easily when subjected to those types of loads. This shows the gussets that I added. I ran them almost to the shackle hanger to help transfer as much of the load as possible in a side pull to the uniframe. Willy

Don't give up yet. There's got to be some way to salvage something out of it. You've done too much great work to give up now. Willy -
Wow, that sucks that you had to remove the front of the truck to replace the alternator. For future reference, there is actually enough room to remove and replace the alternator by just removing the two bolts. I don't remember exactly, but you have to spin the mounting ears into the right spot. Not a lot of room to get it out, but it can be done. Willy
