I like them, but I don't really have any experience wheeling in the snow with anything else. I was at 8 PSI. Could have probably been lower but really didn't have any problems until we started breaking completely fresh snow. Willy

Went on a snow run Saturday to a new place for me, Copper Creek Road. Even though there was a high overcast I really enjoyed the scenery. I'm looking forward to a return trip on a clear day. More pics here. Willy

Nice find! What's up with the funky tow ball on the front? Looks like it would fold under the weight of Christina Ricci. Let me know if you need something. I don't know that I have many spare parts around here, but I may have something you could use. Willy

A pink V6 TJ! I'm glad they had it shipped. I would hate to put any miles on something so rare and unique. They should have sold it at Barrett Jackson. I'm sure there would have been a bidding war! Willy -
Last week storms knocked out our power, so may as well go wheeling. Saturday we attended County Line Offroaders annual Snow Jam fun run. The past couple years the snow had actually been absent from Snow Jam. Not this year. All the storms brought plenty of snow. We had a little time before the prize drawings, so we did a little wheeling at Elbe Hills. It didn't take long to break a driveshaft. Luckily we made it back in time for the prizes where I won a $100 gift certificate to a transmission shop. More pics here. Willy

I think you just gave Tyler a heart attack! Maybe you should have mentioned we got drug by our lady friends to see it. BTW:. Were going this Sunday if you want to go. Kate is riding with me. I think Luke has a free seat. Cody made some crappy excuse about having to paint his new winch bumper or some sissy Crap so he can't go...lol Where are you going? :wavey: Willy Sorry, just saw this post. I'll pm you next time we snow run!! We went up out of Toutle. Did about 60 miles in the snow. No problem. I ended up playing in the snow in Wilkeson. Willy -
A buddy called for an impromptu Sunday wheeling trip. Who am I to turn down a chance to play in the snow? We explored a few of the forest service roads around Wilkeson, found an abandoned 4 Runner, checked out the old coke ovens, drove up to Coplay Lake, and I stumbled across what appeared to be the remnants of an old loading bin for coal train cars. I found some snow that was about 35" deep. :D Came across several waterfalls. The coke ovens in Wilkeson. Coplay Lake. This looked like some type of coal loading bin for the train cars. I ran across the remnants of the bridge abutments that crossed the creek to these mine shafts and several other interesting artifacts in the area. More pics here. Willy

Lesson learned. Not all valve stems work well with these beadlocks. The stem sits below the lip of the beadlock ring and requires moving it to the side to attach deflators, air chucks, etc. Not fun to air up or down when playing in the snow. I picked up some new stems with a 45* bend. This should work much better. Willy

That looks interesting. Is the mounting cup welded on or can it be unbolted? I'll have to watch for those in the junkyard. :peek: Willy

Pics? Are those like a bigger version of the front bumpstops? How hard are they? Are you referring to the Equinox? Thanks, Willy

Interesting....I always thought of Timbrens as supplemental springs for applications like air bags. :hmm: I'll have to research this. Willy

Yesterday was our annual Christmas tree run - and nobody came to get a tree. Since we were not limited to Christmas tree cutting areas we started the day with some exploring. We found a forest service road with some great views. We kept going until the tracks stopped. I was able to keep breaking trail, but forward progress was incredibly slow. The views on the way up. Forward progress stopped shortly after this. It was cold enough in the shadows that the snow was really dry and would not pack. Once the tracks stopped we turned back and checked out another road. I'm glad we didn't go straight to the designated Christmas tree cutting areas as this is what we found. This year the forest service decided not to plow any of the roads to the Christmas tree cutting areas. In years past you could drive a minivan several miles into the forest on plowed roads. Now those minivans were stuck on the side of the road as those going in were attempting to go around those coming out. We turned back while we were still at the end of this mess and explored some side roads. It would have been a long, cold, dark evening if we got stuck in the middle of that mess. More pics here and here. Willy

Picked up some Prothane 4.5" bump stops for the rear. I was hoping that these would give a little more progressive limit before completely bottoming out, but these things are harder than the stock bump stops. I'll leave them for now while I continue to look for something with a softer durometer. Willy

What's the status of the D30? Is it claimed? Willy -
I avoided all the crazy people on black Friday and did something productive, I went wheeling! Spent the day at Evan's Creek. It was cold, but the weather was actually great. The sun was out most of the day, no wind, and fresh snow. It packed pretty well and we had a blast. We kept climbing until one of us broke an axle shaft and another blew a bead. Yes, this is the trail. The snow weighed down the branches so much that you could have easily missed the trails if you didn't know they were there. More pics here. Looking forward to our Christmas tree run this weekend. We should have plenty of snow this year! Willy

I've been continually fighting the old pin style Rubicon Express sway bar disconnects since building this MJ. New disconnects have been on the list but I just never got around to it. After borrowing a friend's TJ with JKS quick disconnects for our Montana trip, I finally got serious about finding a replacement. I researched JKS, Rubicon Express, and several others, but I just couldn't bring myself to spend $100 to $150 on any of them. Then I tripped across a picture of Darren's (goblazers_6) home made disconnects on NAXJA. This gave me some new ideas. I decided to make my own. I started with some 5/8" rod ends, misalignment spacers, some old shock bushings, some 5/8" solid round rod, and miscellaneous hardware and round tubing. I wanted to be able to adjust the length without uninstalling so half the rod ends are left hand thread, plus a matching left hand thread die. For the top attachment to the sway bar I had some rectangular tubing that had an inside width that matched the misalignment spacers. A couple cuts, a few holes, shock bushings, and some 1/2" hardware made up the top mount. I threaded the 5/8" rod and attached the rod ends to it. I drilled out the threads of a 5/8" nut and welded it to the rod to give me a spot for a wrench. I used some 1/4" wall, 1/2" inside diameter tubing to properly space the lower mount. I tapped some 5/8" outside diameter tubing, welded up the end, and ground it down to approximately the shape of a bullet for ease of sliding on the bottom rod end. Cut a couple of tabs to use for keeping the sway bar out of the way when disconnected. All the finished parts. The end result. I had the chance to use them on black Friday. They worked much better than the old disconnects and they are much quieter since I don't have the pins clicking on the coil springs with every bump. Willy

No bushings on the upper control arms? Are you relying upon the races in the joints to eliminate the binding? Willy -
