To the best of my knowledge, every MJ that I have seen, or junked ( I HATE that part), came with a headliner when they were built.
-
I just go get them off of a Ford Ranger/ Exploder out in the junkyard.... P.S. just an FYI, but when the little tin cap is missing/destroyed, an 18 MM socket fits PERFECTLY. I keep an 18MM in my toolkit just from habit, but it has been very helpful for the missing cap headache.

Brake booster upgrade
ren replied to Worlds Fastest Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have this upgrade, along with rear discs from a 96 C/V, and the D44 out of my old XJ. It is SO nice to be able to not only slow down, but actually STOP in a hurry if I need to. A very worthwhile swap, I feel. -
I am running a NON thermal fan clucth for a 77 Camaro with 4.1, "open" style 2 core Aluminumn rad., 4 cyl overflow bottle, late model "s" blade E-fan and stock type T-stat. I did drill a hole about an 1/8th" in the T-stat to allow a constant "airbleed". Just make sure that the hole is at the top when you install the T-stat. Oh, and the factory fan shroud helps ALOT more than you think. The E fan is also on a relay and switch. No overheat issues yet, and we have already passed 85* with humidity past 80% ( high humidity affects cooling eff. with regard to how well heat can be passed: high humidity air is generally heat soaked allready, and cannot absorb much more heat, hence, lowered efficency. A good fan setup will help this to a good degree. Good shrouding helps to draw the air cross the rad., and also helps to speed up the air flow, again helping it draw off the heat.)

Yeah, def. the stock ones. Looking at all of the RUST on there, I wouldn't try to remove them either as the bolts would be "certainteed" to snap off, I'd wager.

Okay, here we go... Does this look like a Taxi, mister? Man, some people are in SUCH a hurry. CAUTION: speed bump ahead. Bent front bumper. Dude. WRONG LINE. That's better. My turn. wait. That's it? SOA flex. Oh, yeah. The NON-flexing Rubi that came along with us. This from the mudhole that the XJ tried earlier, as I just HAD to try it myself. This was the 3rd trip that my MJ had ever been to the woods on, and it seemed like a good time to find out what she could do. Huh. I thought that a SOA swap was supposed to LIFT the truck, not drop it??? Now. That is a close up of some thick mud!

Well, went and played ALL day yesterday ( for about 9 hours  ). We had 2 XJs', my MJ, a Scrambler, a TJ and a Wrongler, along with a 1st Gen. pathfinder. ( I will be posting more pix after they finish uploading onto Photobucket, as my wife, meaning well, decided to upload EVERYTHING at once [50 pix, but I am not going to be postin them all, just the good ones- stucks, hillclimbs etc], sooooo this is gonna take a while. sigh.)

"F" it. I'm going 'wheelin. Anything happens, it happens, not that we can do anything about it.

Plains region? Have you ever BEEN to Kentucky? Flat ground. WTH is that??? Kansas is flat, not here. The trails run up, down, and sideways across the HILLS. "The rolling Bluegrass of Kentucky"- not "The Standing Bluegrass of Kentucky". Anyway, Southeast works for us down here, as we are not quite far enough South to be "southern" for the "majority" of the U.S. (even though we drink sweet tea, mint julips, grow some of THE best tobacco in the U.S., etc, etc.), So, Y'all come on down, kick yer shoes off if you wear 'em, an make yor selfs at home.

Hmm. Those are very clean. Have you done any brake work recently? I am not sure about the spring, as it is not the right size for any brake springs, but the cable piece "could" be, except for the plastic piece on the end. Do know "where" under the MJ that they fell from? Have you hauled anything for someone recently?

The tranny from the XJ will not bolt up to the 5.9, as AMC and Mopar have a different bell pattern, even though they are both round. Your best bet for this project would be to get the rest of the powertrain from a ZJ, along with the engine harness. The only diff. betweeen the 5.2/5.9 harness is the comp. You might be able to use the comp from a Dodge Ram without many/any issues. You also end up with exhaust manifolds that should fit inside the framerails, plus "stubs" hanging on the manifolds to start your new pipes. Not to mention an acc. drive that is fairly compact, with all the acc. closer to the engine, since the ZJ has a smaller engine bay thatn a F/S truck. Good luck with the swap, and keep us posted!

Yeah, MHolleywoulds' MJ is pretty sick. What missed my mind up wasn't the 2.5 power, as much as the fact that this thing cruised over stuff so quickly that it was hard to get any good pix of it. He was talking about needing more reduction gearing, and I do agree with that statement, as the really fun stuff he might have to ride the clutch alot, plus the bouncing from going too quick over things would get old fast, I feel.

Welded the D-35 up, since I got tired of having only a "peg-leg". Waiting for the BOOOOMMM now. In the mean time, I am cutting down a full float D60, 4.10s' L/S to match the narrow track D44 for the front. And YES the are going to be staying 8 lug. :wrench:

How much does a swb bed weigh?
ren replied to Geonovast's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I usually just "walk" the bed back to where it is over the wheel wells, and gently stand it up, then "walk" it to where-ever. Old blankets are nice for setting it on. -
Loaded some tools in it, since it is going to go play "farmtruck" today while I am cleaning out fencelines and hauling stuff around (brush, haybales, feed, etc...).

Yeah, the tube doors are getting to be common enough around here that the junkyards are chargeing more the tireracks now. :grrrr: Oh, well. Folks, feel free to holler when ya'll are wanting to come back, and I will make sure to have the whole weekend off to go and play. If you want to rough it, that's cool with me, as mid summer is a good time out there to be camping! My son and I had a good time show you around, and he STILL wants your "monster Jeep truck", as he calls it. I guess that if you ever need or have to find a home for it, he would be more than happy to give it a good home.

Todays trip was more of a shakedown to see who needed what done for the next run. Today didn't even cover 25% of what is out here, as we had a couple of hold ups from another group, a tranny mount split, and a time shortage. The good stuff is still to be run, and will be posted when it happens. It will def. be a campout worthy weekend. Okay, one big MJ, check. Belly Sctracher Yer truck might be too tall if... the centerline of yer axle is as high as the top of the rut. Umm, POTHOLE!!! What sand covered 3' pipe? 2 for the muddy rock racer crowd. This way out... until next time. BRING ON THE WEEKEND!!!!! :clapping: My partners in crime should be posting some of the pix that they got later on.

Yep. I use a piece of all-thread, a thick washer big enough to cover the seal, and a nut. On the end sticking out of the tube, I use the same thing, and draw the new seal into place. If you want, you can also use a slide hammer, with a similar setup. I don't happen to have a slidehammer, though.

Huh. The last time that I went to the stealership for these, they had to order each one seperately, and the big one was $9.17. WTF. I don't buy many parts from the stealership, so maybe the price has gone WAY down, and now, a kit, too. Oh, and the fuel line repair kits from the staeler are stupid priced, too, but I go down to the Napa and get the Orings, reuse the little spacers, and get new lock tabs from the parts houses, as needed. Esp. since Mopar might be out of business at some point coming up, I like to know that I can still get parts!
-
That I was, WNC_MJ.

Nice Ranger wheels. The XJ had some similar to those, but didn't use the screw on hubcaps, just little black pieces that snapped into the center. Just wanted to point out what the wheels were from incase you wanted to get a matching spare ( mid 80s', BTW). I have a set of those for my BroncoII, and my wifes Supercab Ranger.

Bout time that other people gave credit where it is due.

There's actually 3 Orings inside the elbow that the oil filter is mounted on. When they get old, they become brittle from the heat and age, then they crack/split and cause a leak. You can get a "service kit" for the adapter at parts houses that have a good "Help!" parts selection. I have 2 kits that I got at AutoZone from around $5 each. The part number is 82560. You can also go to the stealership, and get raped for the parts, plus odds are that you will have to wait for them to come in after being ordered.

Well, anybody else? So far, we are looking at a small crew of around 3-5 vehicles for this Saturday, April 18th.

Ahh, it wasn't a total bust. I figured that since I had the seat pulled down that far that I would go ahead and fix the cable that works the seat realease for the fold-forward part. It was strecthed out pretty bad, but a couple of zip-ties took care of that little problem
