The worlds Fastest Comanche
troy6187 replied to Worlds Fastest Comanche's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
i think one of the things you guys are overlooking is the gearing that is used in top speed cars versus street cars. cars built for top speed are geared super high... most of them need pushed by another vehicle to get moving. i'm pretty sure that there are 4 cylinder cars with less hp going 200mph or faster. what transmission was the banks truck using and what were the gears in the rear? also did they use a add-on overdrive of some kind maybe? -
here's the story guys... awhile back i put everything from a 94 cherokee in my 88 mj. motor, tranny, transfer, and all wiring and associated stuff. my fuel gauge now reads in reverse and is not accurate. i know this is because chrysler changed something in the sending unit/ gauge. installing an older gauge in the newer cluster will not work as the mounting is different. does anyone have an idea as to how i can fix this!?!?!?!?!? if i have to i will make custom cluster by combining both. would rather not do this as it will be very time consuming and a pain in the you know what.

here's the deal guys... i swapped everything from a 94 cherokee into my comanche. motor, tranny, transfer, and all wiring from the dash forward. everything works great except for my gas gauge. it reads backwards, but not right. how can i fix this. will installing an older gauge in the newer cluster fix it or maybe switching the wires on the back of the cluster? i also need a full cluster with electric speedo. i have one full one and one without tach to sell also. any help from the great comanche gurus would be greatly appreciated!!!!

sounds like you don't have the plit ring seat in far enough or too far... not sure which. been awhile since i tore one apart and mine is not hare right now. -
bleed, bleed, and bleed some more. when i did mine it took forever to get it bled out properly. just open the bleeder and let it run out. keep the master full and stop when you get new clear fluid out of the bleeder. then bleed the usual way of pumping and holding or with a bottle until you get a good pedal. good luck!

Refilling the closed system.
troy6187 replied to chicofuentes0224's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
it will work with the truck not running. its how i did mine before the open system swap. water always finds its own level so jus make sure the sensor is higher then the rad. -

best mod you will ever make to your mj. its such a better ride on and off road. use a torch or plasma cutter though. those control arm mounts are a pain in the a%*!! -
disk brakes on a rear ford 9inch
troy6187 replied to mj88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
the disc brake setup from an exlorer 8.8 should bolt right up and gives you an e-brake as well. ford racing sells them in a kit. soon as my nine goes in mine are going over to that from the 8.8. -

which wire gets sent to which plug on the column. i would assume brake light wire to somewhere on the plug for the multi-function switch? this is the only thing holding me up from drivin my truck.
-
when you spliced the cherokee harness to the comanche rear harness did you have to use a taillight converter? i just swapped everything from a 94 ho into mine and even with a converter my taillights are not working right.
-
that is exactly what i did when i installed mine. moved the crossmember back and made a quick adapter plate. 6 months on and offroad and no problems. rk rocks!

gm 3/4 ton front brake lines bolt right on and are more than enough for 6+ inches. 88-9? 2 wheel drive hoses

i tried towing my 88 with the tc in neutral on a dolly and it wouldnt work. neutral locked both outputs together and the rear wheels would not turn. the 207 tc is the same as the 231 in almost every way. it does have a neutral.

sounds like a relay burnt up or a fusible link burned up.
