I thought a 12 Second Quarter Mile was pretty solid for what it was running... That's a fairly heavily modified one, though (engine swap, or extensive mods to the 2.8v6 ). Don't get me wrong here, I love fiero's and as I said almost picked one up; but bone stock they are far from what I would consider fast. Never said anything about stock... His was heavily modified, and it was probably in the top 5 fastest cars that I've been in, ever... You also never said anything about not stock either. Well, I sort of did...

I would surly think that "Spring Pack" = "Leaf Pack" = New Leafs, yes! Which would be about 1/2 of that total price of the kit based on what they run from other vendors (of probably higher quality).

i get your point. although this rough country lift is cheaper, you still prefer it over the two rustys ones? Like I said, I've never owned Rusty's, nor will I ever... I guess I don't know enough about Rough Country's stuff to say good or bad things about them...I know from what I've read the drops brackets aren't always the most popular way to accomplish the lifts in either case. I'm eventually only going to 3-3.5", but I'm going to save for a while and get either the Motion Offroad Kit, or piece together a Rubicon Express Superflex Kit with Hell Creek (or Motion Offroad) rear Leaf Pack...either one of these will be in the $900-$1000 ish range, but I plan on only doing the lift once, and I want to make sure I get something that I can trust and know has a good track record. I have a Rubicon Express Long Arm kit on my TJ and am VERY happy with the quality and it's hard to find many people with bad things to say about their parts. The same can't be said for Rusty's, and I'm not sure about Rough Country. You put a gun to my head and tell me to pick one, I'd probably get the $699 with the replacement Leaf Pack as I'm not excited about a SOA (especially for a smaller front lift), or the Add-A-Leaf, since you are still using your 20 year old leafs). Personally I'd save and get a better kit in 6 months or a year when I could afford something more complete, but that's not the answer you appear to be going after. I just got done with 2" Spacers and am going to replace the rear shackles on mine (total cost about $40 since I had the front coil spacers) so I can run 31's until I can afford a "real" 3" Kit.

While I've never owned any Rusty's part or any kind, nor probably ever will based on quite a few first hand experiences of fellow wheelers, I'd rather have NO lift than a crappy one that I'm gonna hate and have to replace parts on forever, or trash the whole thing in a year or two... With that being said, I have seen talk (not all of it good), about the Rough Country 4.5" lift that fits in your "under $700" requirement... http://www.roughcountry.com/Jeep_MJ_4in.htm

Looks cool, but why? Just curious.......... Not enough Chrome for my Taste... :D

Yah, one of the Zerks got busted off on the Pass side at some point, so I assume that unless I can screw in a a new one (which I don't have any of the "smaller" ones arround), I think that will have an effect on how long I run these. I also didn't mount the upper "disconnect" studs yet, as I'm not sure where the best placement is, but I was lucky I got these much done this weekend while watching the kiddo's with the wifey working.

I personally haven't spent any money (YET) with Motion...But I believe he has mentioned they they have been known to kick down some type of discount for ComancheClub members...no guarantee, but don't hurt to ask...

Ok, just cause I hate to be called a tease... Well, I added the 2" BB Front Coil Spacers this weekend and don't yet have the Rear Chevy Drop Shackles for the Rear. I thought it would be pretty unlevel, but was surprised that it really isn't all that much... Here is the "After Pics", with just the front spacers and nothing in the back. I think if I get about 1" in back then I will be happy with the way it looks. I'm eventually going to move from the 29x10.50 to 31x10.5, hopefully on this Budgetboost. My street is "pretty" flat, but not perfectly so and slops slightly down (from left to right in my pic). Sitting in what I assume is my level garage floor with a level on a few spots on both sides of the bed rails show that the front in just a tad higher than the rear. BEFORE PIC for Reference... I notice more space up front...

Seems to be a lot of that going around... I suspect this will hold me over until I do a bigger lift, which I don't see happening anytime real soon with the $$$ situation... Wade

If only you could get those mirrors in chrome.........sigh............. Then he would have to paint em black to look nice...

Yah, got it... a little "persuasion" and it went on... Moved the Swaybar around a little bit and mounted the disconnect so that it would go on...I don't know that it would really be considered a "quick-disconnect" when I go to disconnect it the first time. I remember now why I didn't really care for the Teraflex Disco's (and can't say that I'm really happy with the Rubicon Express Gen 2 ones on my TJ... I guess that's why I the ORO Swayloc will probably be my next big mod). Thanks SW2

MAN that is NICE!

Away from tire...Pointing towards the Passenger Side...

Well, I plan on MAKING them work... I'm just not sure how, and was hoping for some expert Comanche Club Advice... I think a lot of people are still out on Holiday... SW2

Is there a trick on the Passenger side? Seems there is little gap between the Post for the Disco and lower trackbrack/steering stabilizer mount... drivers side seems find. Something I'm doing, or a byproduct of me trying to reuse TJ Disco's? Sw2

Ok, I know this wasn't my thread, but I started this project tonight... The Coil is out (just barely and it wasn't real nice about squeezing out), but I don't have any clue how I'm going to get it back in with the spacer in... Swaybar disconnected, Shocks disconnected at the axle side, Passenger side axle stuffed as high up as the Jack I have will take it and I have no where near enough droop to get that spring back in with out compressors (which I have, but was hesitant to use if I didn't have too, since they are cheapy Harbor Freight ones) I also tried the stock bottle jack upside down on the axle behind the spring to try to push this side of the axle DOWN further down (which I did with my TJ when I did the BB on it years ago).... You might be able to make it out in the pic.. Anything else I'm doing wrong or should try?

what do you think about this lift?
SuperWade2 replied to f1tbiker6's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
$470 vs $1100... YES I agree there is a difference in what your getting for the $$$, but if someone is looking for the Size, but maybe isn't doing the Hard Wheeling that other people are, then I think the $470 is a good alternative... I think you get what you pay for, and I'm not for doing things more than once, But I really think the need serves at least some purposes... -
Well, the YinYang Project is Over... I sold the 87 to a fellow 4x4Club member... He's going to put a new Tranny in and keep it... I'm not sure if he's going to do the 4WD conversion, but he said that he was gonna keep it and get it running and use it... I got what I paid for it, so other than it sitting in my garage for a couple months, I'm really not out any cash, and didn't make any... Now I have more space to start on projects for my "Keeper" MJ... SW2
