Thanks for chiming in WAEMID IV. I know that 4WD is engaging because I can feel it in the driveline and the front wheels will bind when I turn on dry pavement. If I open up the CAD cover, what am I looking for specifically? An obstruction? Gear wear?

With brackets. Very good deal.

Right. I know what I'm looking for is a unicorn.

569 views and no responses...about what I expected. I was willing to pay market rate and drive to pick it up. Oh well, the after market one will be installed next week.

Okay, I have recently acquired a non-factory roll bar that is in excellent condition. However, before I go to the effort of installing it, I wanted to check to see if someone here might have a factory one. I'm in Massachusetts and I'm willing to travel a reasonable distance to pick it up.

No, the hvac has never switched to defrost on its own. When I apply vacuum from my vacuum pump to the hose that attaches to the vacuum switch, the PART TIME light on the dash comes on.

STATUS UPDATE: I ran a new 1/4" line from the vacuum switch under the coolant bottle to the white male port coming off the shift motor at the axle and the PART TIME light did not come on with engine running and in engaged in 4WD. I tested the hose at the vacuum switch with engine running and 4WD engaged with a digital manometer and it is pulling vacuum, but not much. It was about .024" of water column. Again, when I tested the vacuum switch with a vacuum pump a couple days ago (which pulls a lot deeper) it turned on the PART TIME light. I also removed the transfer case vacuum plug and the pintle seemed to move freely to me. Lastly, although this Jeep is 35 years old, it only has 40k original miles and is in MINT condition. Any thoughts?

Thanks for posting the video. The white line is what attaches to the vacuum switch mounted near the firewall by the passenger side and it appears as if I don't have any vacuum on the white line. I pulled the hose off that switch and ran a new hose from the switch to my vacuum pump and with the 4WD engaged and engine running, the PART TIME light came on. From that video, the blue line hanging empty in the picture is normal because that is how the system releases vacuum. However, there is an open female port under the truck near the CAD and in the same passenger area near the blower motor. Can anyone confirm if these two ports should be open?

I have a '90 with the 4.0L and 4WD. Recently, the Part Time 4WD light has not been coming on while in 4WD. Yes, the 4WD engages and disengages as it should and the CAD is factory untouched. Where should I start my troubleshooting?

Sport Bar mounting plates for new to me Jeep?
robfg67 replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks, like Pete said, I'm probably going to have to fabricate some custom plates and that's okay. 99% of the public will have no idea it's not factory, but it will still look pretty cool! -
I picked up this '88 yesterday. I will probably end up pulling parts off it for my Jeep. Lots of body rot on this one. Miles: 170k Engine: 2.5L Drivetrain: 2WD Transmission: Asian AX5 Build Date: Tag on door is missing Current Location: Walpole, MA Not Registered, but runs fine

Sport Bar mounting plates for new to me Jeep?
robfg67 replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I know that it's only an "appearance bar" and offers no roll over protection. The bar I have is in really good condition. Needs a repaint, but no rust through at all. I reached out to Krustyballer16 to see if his brackets can be used. I would prefer to fasten it to the bed a securely as possible. Does the factory long bed bar rear legs attach to the vertical part of the wheel wheel (and not the top) like the one I have? -
Sorry, I can't take them at this time.

Replacement Side Mirror Bracket
robfg67 replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I saw a Bleepin Jeep video and he cut one side of the bracket and then slipped it over the cables. -
I'm interested. Where in Massachusetts? I'm in Walpole. Rob

Replacement Side Mirror Bracket

Great, thanks eaglescout526. I would prefer to buy from this community. Order incoming Dzimm! -
One of the side mirror brackets on my truck is cracked. There are some eBay sellers who sell 3D printed replacements. Does anyone have any experiences with them?

Any thoughts on this load leveling device?
robfg67 replied to ghetdjc320's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It appears as if your mechanical ability is a bit deeper than mine, so the install seems a bit confusing. Do you know if there is a good video out there to follow? I have a long bed, so will it be a different kit than yours? -

Questions... So you did not use either supplied white or black disks? What do you mean by feeler gauge? I know you said they made you a "custom" set up for your non-factory rear suspension; but what would be the best way to order a set up for a factory suspension? Thanks, I'll probably think of other questions. Appreciate your time. -

Never heard of it, but I'm interested. The P.O. installed a Rusty's 4" lift with new leaf springs. It rides fine empty or loaded down, but the rear drops down a lot with not much weight added. Please follow up if they have one and you install it. -
It's a sweet mystery of life.
