  1. I also have had and seen many many different setups. IMHO, the KEVIN's Track bar conversion is about the best. It changed the problem prone frame end to a WJ style bushing. JKS would get second. BTW the Kevin's is very very close to the JKS product. CW
  2. GREAT START!!!! Keep the progress pics flowing!!      CW
  3. Sorry to hear that CW. Its been just about a year since my grandmother passed. Its still weird to see her house when she isnt living in it. Is your dad going to do some wheeling with that or just a driver? Thanks man... Its hardest thing I have had to deal with....... Thats the thing about life...its terminal, nobody wins. We all get to die in the end. CW
  4. The lift was about 90% one day. Pops removed the leafs last week end. we did everything else Saturday. Sharp eye!! Yes, realitively stock MJ. At least lift wise... ;) Its my brother-in-laws. He liked mine so he started looking. Found that. Its a 1988 metric tonne long bed (D44!!). Pretty good deal too...but the engine is about shot...won't even hold in gear on a slight grade!!! CW
  5. Well, today waxs a complete wash out work wise. Rained all day mostly very hard!! BUT, I was able to get the muffler for the MJ!! $47 no problems and I have it...WAY less stress!! Install after the flood. ;) CW
  6. I have a 10# for the MJ and a 20# for the TJ. Perviously, I have been using nitrous bottle brackets for the 10# in the TJ. But picked up a 20# bottle last year and switched things around. BTW, both are Alum. bottles so are a bit larger in diameter than steel tanks. I need a couple brackets for these bottles. I also would like one of the handle's I see on power tanks and the source bottles. I'm flerting with the idea of a second regulater as well. What do you have and where did you get it?? CW
  7. I know what you mean..they are my second favorite..to MJ's of course!! I thought this was going to be mine...then Pop showed intrest, so I figured, what the heck. It was a good project that alowed us to work on something together again. Gives him something to do since my mom passed away earlier this year. CW
  8. My fathers Cherokee!! Its a 1987 Laredo 2DR, 4.0 auto. Orig had a 242 now its got a 231. Factory D44 rear and non disco D30 up front, both with 3:55 gears. 217, 000 miles. BUT its got a new engine w 80,000, a newly rebuilt tranny with about 50,000 and that 231 T case. All suspention changed here in the build up, brakes new as is the alternator. As you guys no, I have been saving parts for another build up..well here it is!! Here is the humble beginnings: I grabbed up a Trailmaster 3" lift with full leaf packs!! I added some CHEBY drop shackles. They measure 5.5" eye to eye and will get me an additional inch out back. (I know they are backwards. ) Last weekend we got it here and pop took to cleaning it top to bottom.. Once that was done, he put back on the front tow hooks. Then he put on the MJ's old front bumper. The rear wiper was shot. So EBAY to the rescue!! Then it was time for some sound upgrades. Actual lift time... Pop started with the rear springs... Luckly the only bolt to give us problems was the pass side front. Yup...it broke the nut loose inside the frame!! But thats not the worst of it!! The front spring hanger was badly rusted and completely seperated from the jeep. First order was to cut out the cancer. Then we took some heavy gage steel and cut it to size and welded it in. Then I made up a plate of 1/4" steel. I drilled a 5/8" hole thru ot and welded a nut to that. Pop twisted off the brake line and I forgot to get the replacement. So the brakes will have to be done Sunday... Everything else for the rear is done. The battery wasnt too good either. So I picked up a Optima for him!! Luckly the front went like clock work. No problems at all!! My brother-in-Law came to help so it went doubly fast!! I didn't get the adj TB, so I threw in a bracket to keep the axle centered. Worked perfectly!! Once the brakes are done its off to the alignment shoppe!! The extended brake lines where no problem up front. Here is the finished project!! Image Not Found I think it came out really nice!! Those RUBY tires really make it look great!! I have them mounted on 16X8 Cragar soft 8's. I don't think he will do a ton more. The interior needs some work, esp the headliner!! The radio is about shot. I have an ALPINE CD player/radio to throw in. He also still needs to put in the front speakers. I have a set of TJ axle shafts to go in. Likely not needed but I have them and its a easy upgrade. Gonna make a set of rock rails like I have on the MJ too. Hopefully the rain will hold off Sunday so we can replace that rear brake line and bleed the brakes so he can enjoy his new toy!! Also time will tell if we need a drop kit for any vibes... CW
  9. I also recomend a better winch. Go used on a name brand and save some coin. Warn, Superwinch would be my top choices. I put a W8000 on the MJ I picked it up used for $400. Its realitively small and works great!! I have a MM 9500 on my TJ. Its slow but I have made some long and dificult pulls with it with no problems. I do like it, but the WARN is almost twice as fast. If I where to do it again, I would go Warn/Superwinch all the way. CW
  10. Jeep offered what you are talking about FACTORY!! It used a 6000# winch. I am assuming for the room it aforded. Good luck finding one.. CW
  11. Well....three strikes and your OUT!! I got the THIRD muffler this AM and it is still WRONG!!! Even after they asured me they opened the box and checked to be sure.. JEGS SUX!!! :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: I called and they where all please and thank you and SOOOO sorry... Yea right. I am gonna wait till I get my funds refuned and NEVER order there again!!! I a picking up a Dynomax ULTRA Fol in the AM....screw JEGS!!! I have this muffler in my TJ and like it. CW
  12. Dirty, NICE color!! I really like it. Its very close to what I will use. I am going to try to match a early '90's, Dodge PT Crusier color. I think it is called ELECTRIC BLUE. Anyway its quite close to your blue. Nice write up BTW. Keep it up!! CW
  13. You can also try a friend of mine, Spencer Mahar of Mahar design. spencer@mahardesign.com OR http://www.mahardesign.com/index.htm He is a nice guy who has made many stickers for the guys on here. CW
  14. They where avalible factory. I have a set off one of the XJ's I chopped up. I say keep looking at the JY and EBAY!! CW
  15. Well...the muffler is wrong. I ordered a center in and offset out. I got a offset in / out. I called JEGS back and was told they would send call tag and ship replacement as soon as the wrong one got back to them. I said this was NOT ACCEPTABLE. I wanted to do this this WE and It was no fault of mine this was wrong. I was told this was their policy and the only way was for me to pay for a second one abd have it have it overnight shipped. (My expence). My origional costs would be refunded as soon as wrong one got to them. I agreed and got the replacement today as promiced........it is WRONG AGAIN!!!! This time offset in center out. :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: What is up with these people????? I got them on the phone and explained the problem. They have always been helpful and polite but this has now happened twice in the same transaction...not good in my book. Well, ANOTHER is being sent overnight to me again... sat. delivery. This time I flatly I REFUSED to pay anymore and demanded the shipment overnight AM delivery at THIER expence. This time they agreed with me. EAGLE, I sure hope this is not a bad omen for the GIBBSON!!! :brows: ;) Keep your fingers crossed!!!! CW
  16. Now that you typed that, I can read your previous post properly. When I first read it, I couldn't believe you'd be saying that. Glad that wasn't the case. Yeah, I didn't realize it was that ambiguous until CW said that. VERY GLAD to hear it Dirty!!! I gotta say, it sure sounded derogatory to me... I mean you did call him a quack! I see alot of this kind of stuff on different boards and was kinds shocked to see it here. I can honestly say that I am glad I was wrong!! CW
  17. That's the funny thing about it. I browse the cherokee forums enough to know 8.25 = no ABS. Near as I can tell, ABS must not have been a popular option for jeeps in my area. I've only ever seen 2 cherokees in the boneyard that had ABS. I saw another 2 cherokees with 8.25s while going to get tranny fluid. And I didn't see any others. I just think this guy is such a quack. He's considered the 'jeep god' on the few forums he frequents, and he seems to get quite annoyed when his word is challenged. He had a lot of fun when I showed him threads about XJs with the 2.5L/AW4 and 4.56 gears. Ah well. I couldn't find any production numbers to smear in his face, so I guess he'll just get to 'win' this one. Dirty, This post is over the top and uncalled for. You can disagree with anyones comments with out making it a personal attack. Just state you opinion its still as valuable here as anyones. I am on many boards and am a director and mod on a few and this kind of strife and nonsense destroys a board. It literally chokes the life from it, people stop posting for fear of retaliator posts about what they say or think. Please keep it civil or go to PM's if you must. Just my personal opinion, CW
  18. My muffler and 200amp Alternator arrived!! I had the alt made. Its going in with all new wiring. including a 4ga charging wire as the factory 12ga is too small!!! Here is a couple of the wires. I am making them myself. to exact legnth and routing. HOPEFULLY, I'll get both in this week end!! CW
  19. They bagan uusing them about the time the HO 4.0 came out. then increased usage thru the last model year 2001. If you checked off ABS brakes, you got the D35 otherwise you got the 8.25. Some time around the change in 1997 they also went to 29 splines. I have no idea of actual numbers. CW
  20. I added a ZJ pitman arm with my steering upgrade and Kevins track bar. Just like Dirty said its all realitive and needs to be done so things remain parallel. The Kevins TB drops the frame end about an inch and that matches the ZJ pitman arm in mt MJ. CW
  21. As stated, they are quite strong. Actually have a much stronger HOUSING than the D35 OR D44. The rest is about equil to the D44/8.8 in the 29 spl version. Lockers are limited and expensive as are Gears. If you can get one in the gears you have its a score of an upgrade to the D35!!! CW
  22. Nice score!!  CW
  23. I found this over on the NEJEEPS site. I though it was informative. You know the power of knowing.... Unbelievable or maybe not such a surprise afterall. About three minutes long but worth watching, especially if your a Jiffy Lube customer....you won't be anymore!!! http://mfile.akamai.com/12924/wmv/vod.i ... 3.200k.asx CW
  24. DITTO!! CW
  25. Its stock..or at least I didn't make it... CW
