  4. It's a rabbit hole for sure!
  5. High bid was $30k, did not meet reserve

  7. An hour left on the bidding to snag this custom sky blue VW Crewcab Diesel Pickup. Even with a 5spd manual, I'm guessing the 0-60 on this thing is "sometime tomorrow" LOL https://carsandbids.com/auctions/rN5WWAWw/1981-volkswagen-rabbit-ls-diesel-4-door-pickup-conversion?utm_source=d&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=e
  8. I was thinking the same thing Pete, I've seen a lot of great builds posted from Mexico. Crewmanches, LS swapped desert runners, and now a dually.
  9. Just saw this posted on FB on the "Jeep Comanche Lovers, Owners and Enthusiasts" group. Truck is in Mexico.......and looks bad as hell! That is all.
  10. Someone on here in the not too far past sent their wheel off to be recovered with, IIRC, factory matching colors and the perforated leather I wanna say for @$200. Might be worth a search. Mine needs recovering finally, so I'll be interested with whatever you do.
  11. My experience with the clunking sound was definitely control arm related. Mounting bolts were a little loose but bushings were worn out. That's when I took the opportunity to put on the WJ LCA's and the clunking went away and immediately there was a very noticeable improvement in overall steering feel and roll going through turns. That said, check your sway bar bushings also. If they are worn out and you're doing a full lock turn it can cause the sway bar to shift ever so slightly and make a sound. The super stiff sharp-turn steering seems like something is binding, so I second, third and fourth the above comments about having someone turn the wheel while you are observing all steering components.

  13. That's none other than our own "Jeep Driver"s project. He had a V8 he was going to put in it IIRC.
  14. Damn. @90 mins from me, very tempting.

  17. I've been lurking regularly, just not posting as much
  18. In addition to replacement units from MTS, TriStarr rebuilds them and does a very good job. I had mine done by them. http://tristarrradiator.com/
  19. I have an OE maroon cloth & vinyl bench seat cover I'd sell, it's in excellent shape. PM me if you are interested
  20. I'll chime in. I have a Pioneer head unit, 22wx4 OR 22x2 and 70wx1 @2ohms for a sub. I've got a good pair of JBL 5.25" speakers in the door and a 6.5" dual voice coil Bazooka tube in the back. That's it. The DVC tube runs at 2ohms which makes the most out of the 70w being fed to it. No external amp. You can get a mid-level Pioneer or similar head unit for <$150, good speakers for <$100 and, IMO, you can probably find a used Bazooka for $100 or less. An 8" dual voice coil tube will give you some more bump if you want, but the 6.5" will really surprise you with how hard you can drive it and it snugs right in behind either seat and does not limit the seat from going all the way back. There's my nickels worth of opinion.
  21. Totally badass!
  22. I have an exhaust leak tick, last mounting bolt closest to firewall is broken off. Do you hear it at idle? At idle and light pedal pressure/low rpm I cannot hear mine, once under load it's there and gets louder with hard acceleration or load. Since it's you DD, have you noticed a change in fuel economy? All of this, IMO completely limited knowledge would cast my vote for exhaust leak. Hopefully that's all it is.
