  1. Yep, That's how I changed mine.
  2. Before you go and do anything else, go to Autozone and buy yourself a digi thermometer. They're around $20. Shoot differnt areas around the thermostat housing and get us a good reading. Then we'll go from there. If you search on the forum you'll find a lot of differnt things. Look up "Chico's 1988" in the MJ projects section to see what I replaced my plastic tank with. But first find out what temp your engine is actually running at. And bleed the system like BLHTAZ told you.
  3. Still can't. Shop is still for sale. Actually I have an interview for a sales job in 9 days so my schedule is about to get busier. If the shop doesn't sell soon (like within the next 6 months) I'll have to file bankruptcy. Hopefully the plan is, Get this job, sell the shop, then I'll actually have weekends off and I'll be able to meet up with you guys.
  4. I just put an open end wrench on the bolt and used another one to make it longer. Gave it a "twack" and the extra torque was enough to back the bolt off without the pulley moving. I can take a pic of the balancer but just sitting there it looks perfectly fine. When you press down on the outer rim you notice how it doesn't stay flush with the rest of the balancer.
  5. No prob. When I changed mine out I couldn't find it anywhere around here though. I got mine from BLHTAZ.
  6. In my best yuppie voice. Pat: "Dude, I'm drinking a Caramel Frappe the other day when I notice this rust bubble............. Guy:" Listen yuppie, it's a 20 year old truck. DEAL WITH IT!" Pat: "Forget this. I've got a ten pound pipe wrench with your head's name on it. :thwak: "
  7. Manifold Air Temp. That is your intake manifold right?
  8. Did you have to to pull the radiator, to get the puller in there? Nope, puller fit tight.
  9. Hey Chico, is that AVG in the greater Harrisburg area, or just on your side of the Suzy-Q( also known as the squeaky banana) ? :hmm: No, that was the lowest that night. Highest was 3.25-3.28 off major highways. Today's average price around here is 2.97.
  10. Problem solved :D I changed the harmonic balancer and front seal today and there is no more noise. Couple things I'd like to point out. To get the old balancer off you will need a puller. I borrowed a friends but saw one at Autozone for $17.00. To get the front seal back in correctly without bending it to pieces,(don't ask how I know) you will need a large washer. Use the bolt that goes thru the middle of the balancer and use the washer that has a larger diameter than the seal to walk it back in without causing problems. To walk the balancer back on to the crank you will need a longer bolt than the one that is already there. I went to Lowe's and the size I bought was 1/2-20 2" Grade 5. I didn't measure the length of the original bolt that holds the balancer on but it's probably 1 1/2". Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong. Also the head is either 19 mm or 3/4". After I'd spent 4 hours today messing around and running around and buying a new seal, larger washer, and longer bolt it took me exactly 8 minutes to put it all back together. Figure if you have the correct tools, puller, larger diameter washer, and longer bolt ready to go you can basically get ths job done in less than 1/2 hour. Once again thanks for everybody's help on this one

  12. Oh good news, this one's Made In Canada. :D
  13. I answerd my own question by actually looking at the balancer. I has a notch on the back so it looks like I can't really mess up the position. How bout does anything go on this seal?
  14. All right guys. I got the harmonic balancer in from Taz today (thanks again B) Mine was replaced when I first bought the truck but I never did it myself. Is it a pretty staight foward replacement or is there any special tools/tips I should know before pulling mine off and replacing it. Here's what I think but someone please chime in if I'm missing something. 1)Loosen belt, pull off the old balancer. 2)Loosen and remove the bolt holding the balancer on. 3)Remove balancer and old front seal. Clean area well. 4)Re-install new balancer and seal and button everything back up. It seems like a pretty staightfoward job but is there a certain position the balancer should go back on and do I need to put anything on that front seal?
  15. This is my family. In my best stoner voice. "I LOVE YOU MAAAAAN!"
