  1. Past hour
  2. Sounds like a plan. Everyone here is always a great help!
  3. Sure thing, I'll be home in just a little bit and I'll get right on that. I'm already feeling a little better just having someone to talk to about it I really appreciate it
  4. I second getting the injector cleaned. Cheaper than the new one.
  5. Today
  6. Ok, good. Just wanted to double check that you were using the proper transmission. It is usually easier to do them together, but installing them separately is fine too. Could you post some pictures of what is going on?
  7. Yep, I removed the 2 side mounts from the donor XJ and the driver side seems to line uo perfectly, however the passenger side mount is roughly 1.5" closer to the firewall...at the time I figured maybe the mounting points on the 4.0 were slightly offset by that much, but now that I have the motor hoisted over it, thats not the case.
  8. Yep, I went back and forth on whether or not to leave it attached tp the motor, and I decided to remove them separately
  9. You might be able to clean the injector that you've got.
  10. Hey there I did not. I haven't driven the Jeep like crazy so it hasn't bothered me lol
  11. Wish I would have taken a picture of the injector when I pulled it out. Judging by the amount of corrosion I'm going to be dropping the fuel tank and cleaning. So I can get a new fuel pump if needed within a few days for $110. Sadly the injector is 1 week out and $472 unless someone knows a better deal in Western Canada?
  12. Hey there everyone apparently it got solved, thanks to everyone, apparently it was some of the booster actuator rod adjustments and some brake front line bleeding to get rid of some dirt and other stuff that was in the line. Againg thanks to evryone, ill still look out for some calippers change.
  13. Autozone is garbage. Advanced auto is ok Napa was good when I was restoring my MJ Oreillys is a hit or miss. Mostly miss.
  14. Saturday I passed along the stock the axles to another local MJ owner to utilize the 4.10 ring and pinions in his 6 cylinder MJ. Parts are scattering across the garage but it feels like progress.
  15. In WI, there is only one person at one parts store who I trust to look anything up. Usually I find the part that I need online and will call the parts store with the part number if I need the part soon, otherwise I just order it off of rock auto.
  16. In my experience Auto Zone is always the worst, part quality and employee quality. NAPA used to be the best, but now seems to offer the same inferior parts as everyone else, but at a higher cost. Our local store can't find good employees because they pay less than fast food. Most of the chains can be hit or miss. I'm lucky that I deal with the commercial sales people at work, they are usually higher paid and more experienced that the part time newbies that many times are at the front counter. If I have to buy a part over the retail counter, I figure out what I need before I go.
  17. Also, did you swap the actual frame side mounts from the XJ onto the MJ? I’ve found it to be a much easier process to install the engine with tranny assembled then add the transfer case
  18. Having moved around a lot, I've found that the quality of the employees varies widely between stores. Some places AutoZone has the good old graybeards. Sometimes it O'Riley. And it can change as people come and go. Most of the time I research the part I want and find a good vehicle to respond with when they ask make/model/trim. It's just easier to do that than explain to them what you're doing. Though sometimes you can get to know the staff and they know you know what you're doing and just go grab the part you ask for. What irritates me is the "expert" employee who offers really low quality advice based on a lack of real understanding but they're at the peak of the Dunning-Kruger slope.
  19. You’re using the trans that was behind the 4.0, correct?
  20. I prefer Napa as well, the folks at my local Napa are great. There is a catch though. For the case where the exact part is sold by Napa and Autozone, Napa is more expensive and in some cases a lot more expensive . No Advanced Auto close enough for this comparison. Then of course, there's always Rock Auto when you are not in a hurry....
  21. I agree with the Napa opinion. I've yet to encounter a napa associate that isn't willing to help or is fairly knowledgeable. Anywhere else is the same year/make/model questions.
  22. I think most have a No Return on electrical. I like NAPA best. AutoZone least. NAPA has gone down to the other's level in the past 10 to 15 years. Advanced and Orielly's over AutoZone. Also, We have a Federated. They do carry the brand names. Gates, Clevite etc. Pep Boys is around. Haven't been in one in Years though.
  23. I recently bought a running, wrecked '94 XJ (damaged frame) with the goal of swapping EVERYTHING into my non running '88 comanche (2.5 manual, 4WD short bed). My dad originally bought the Comanche years ago to use as a hunting truck and it ended up sitting out in the woods only to be ravaged by rats, I decided to bring it home and got it to at least run (after spending a lot of $$) however the wiring harness was chewed up too bad to repair. I decided to find someone locally get it into running shape. The first "jeep expert" I took it to, ended up going to prison and the Comanche set for 2 years at his house without it ever being touched. Second "jeep expert" screwed me over pretty bad and I had to go to mediation to get the jeep back. That was 4 years ago... So needless to say I have had nothing but horrendous luck. Over the last few years I've gained some confidence in my mechanic skills and felt it was time for me to try and at least tackle the job because I didn't want to give up on it. I have spent an incredible amount of time trying to get this thing to run right and I just don't know what else to do. Not to sound conceded, but I feel like I have viewed every single article and post regarding this swap...and I still have not found the answer/guidance/solution. I understand that was a long backstory to get to my actual question so I hope someone, somewhere, somehow can help me. I'm having such a hard time trying to line up the 4.0 with the trans and motor mounts...what the hell am I missing? I'm obviously using the mounts from the xj but the passenger side seems offset? Also it seems like there is simply not enough room for the 4.0 to mount up to the trans and driveshaft properly. PLEASE PLEASE HELP 🙏
  24. Might have to think on that
  25. I guess it depends on what you are looking for. I've had very mixed experiences with all but Napa. (I haven't shopped at a Napa in a long time) Autozones parts are a mixed bag, quality control isn't great. I bought a power steering pump for one of my zjs a few years back, discovering they had switched up who their reman company was, put the new pump in and it didnt want to bleed properly and after going lock to lock a few times the pump literally blew up the steering box and then it died immediately. Couldn't get a new one for a few days so I just got a used one instead. Advance auto I've run into issues with electrical parts. They have a policy that if you open, or install electrical parts they can exhange but REFUSE to return them. So you have to be super careful about that.
  26. Why not find a cherokee and try and save this one? I also think its too nice for parts. Beds are easy to get, and you can even get patch panels now
  27. It’s pretty rough the bed is shot I’m just needing the 4x4 parts
