Interior mods

Recommended Posts

I am just looking at what some of you have done for interior mods in your MJ's. I have been wanting to add a ZJ center console, but I am not sure how that will fit. I did not know if any of you have done this or perhaps done something else. I just love to see what people come up with  :D

You could do a 1997-2001 XJ center console to get cup holders.

I have one in my 88 right now. I did it for the cup holders, but I like the idea of a zj more because I will have a bit more space for things since I do not have a hand brake. I also like the way it rolls off towards the dash.

Hay Farmer, (see what I did there?)... do you have any bigger pics of that red MJ in your profile pic

Haha...I like that. I have the same picture and can make it just about any size that I would like. There are a few others stored in my computer as well.

Cup holders in an a MJ?

When they built these, the designers specifically designed the cup holders out. Cause real men drive jeeps, and real men don't need no cup holders...

What I/m wondering is, has anyone swapped out the floor shiftier for a newer longer one. the one where you can mount the trans temp gauge in front of the 4x4 lever. I have a bench seat, and like that console, but, I've only ever seen it long. maybe cut it?

My favorite...so far....bluetooth head unit..Pioneer DEH-X6500BT.....full hands free....BT streaming..

..with Pandora....$60  from a buddy/CC member.

Have MJ console and seats ( just cleaned up ) set to be installed........

seats maybe tomorrow.

Still need heater duct and bolt down brackets for the console (which came with the add-on cup holder).

My grandpa drove the same stripper model f150 for 30 years without cup holders. Always set his coffee cup on the tunnel so he could shift, never saw him spill a drop. A few years ago he modernized to a late model ranger. He was pretty proud of the cup holders and fm radio the ranger came with.

LED interior lights and LED dash lights....

I'm sure someone has a part number list of LED bulbs to do the entire interior.

194s fit everything but the HVAC controls, the B pillar lights, and the lights where the 4x4 indicator, CEL, Parking Brake, ect lights are. HVAC controls are 74s as are the 4x4/CEL/ect but you really don't want LEDs in the 4x4/CEL/ect area  because they get bad hotspots due to how they're backlit.

I want to say the dash is 8-10 lights, one for the shifter, one for tc shifter, two underneath the dash if you have the footwell lights, and one in the glovebox. HVAC controls take one or two, can't recall offhand though.

You can do all the interior lights for like $20 and it's a huge difference. Stupid easy too. You can do everything in 15-20 minutes.
