4.0 Cone Style Intake for Cheap?

Recommended Posts

Hey

I don't remember who, but I remember someone who had a cone intake they got at advanced or autozone for like $50, and they had the hose that connects the air intake to the front hole in the valve cover. if anyone knows where to buy this or has it, let me know the info on it. Mine has a breather stuck in there instead and it doesnt fit tight, leaks a little. Again, not looking for an expensive K&N cold air intake, just looking to replace the factory airbox with a cone style one, and having all the nessesary hoses. Thanks

Maddz i guess I'm looking for both

figure as long as I'm spending money might as well get the upgrade

I need the airtube and the hose that connects it to the front of the valve cover.

looking at pictures of other XJ's and MJ's I'm realizing I'm missing that whole piece of emissions stuff, on both my 88 and my parts (89). Do you have anything to say positive or negative about the rustys airtube? And does it come wtih the piece that goes to the front of the valve cover?

and I'm always lookin around junkyards, if i find a v8 taurus ill check it out jamminz.gif

theres nothing from the airtube that goes to the front of the valve cover. The tube from the TB is the main tube on the air tube. THen the rubber tube that comes off the vacuum line from the purge cannister connects to the side of it and then the rubber tube from the other half of the vacuum assembly that connects to the front of the valve cover connects to the other side of the air tube.

If you want to replace all the vacuum lines from the CCV system from the valve cover these are the 3 you need:

The tube that comes off the back of the valve cover connects to a port on your intake right infront of your IAC.

The one that comes off the front of the valve cover will have a couple vacuum lines: 2 are really short and connect to your intake right infront of the one above. THe other one will connect to the transducer for your egr valve.

The second part of the harness clips to the 1st part (you will see how) and has one vacuum line that connects to the air box (or gets plugged if you buy the rustys air tube). Then it has 2 more lines that connect to vacuum solenoid right behind your ballist resistor on the driver side fender.

When you get the pieces, LMK and I will take some pics if you need them to see how it all goes together.

I just replaced all of them yesterday when I put my new valve cover gasket on.

Does the rusty's tube have provisions for the small vacuum lines that come out the back of the airbox? The picture doesn't show... if it does then I'm probably going to jump on it

It only has places for the two big lines to hook up. One of the small line on the back of the air box comes from the front of the air box so that one is gone when you remove the box. The other one you just plug up.
