rangrbob Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Just a quick update: Converted to 4wd (30/35 w/410s), 97+ front body panels, interior clean up, and lots of little stuff. I hope to get it repainted in a week or so.
minydigger Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 How did you hook your lights up with the front swap?
rangrbob Posted April 11, 2008 Author Posted April 11, 2008 Re: Wiring question. PM sent also. After finding a wiring harness off of a 97+ header panel at a local auto salvage yard and butchering it up to get all the light sockets. I was able to solder them in place of the sockets that were on my 89 harness. It took some time goining back and forth from a 98 Cherokee service manual to the Haynes repair manual to splice in all the correct wires together due to the fact the colors were different on each harness. I'll post some more pics soon.
rangrbob Posted April 11, 2008 Author Posted April 11, 2008 Some other pics. Interior after some work. During front end swap. Not too long after buying it.
MiNi Beast Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 interiour looks clean man. Doing nice work there.
mfpdm Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 interiour looks clean man. Doing nice work there. :agree: Wish I could have talked the son into the 97+ conversion. Maybe next project.
Lemon8R Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 I have a the 00 front of my xj on my 88 and the wiring was not an issue. the front indicaotrs went in like stock and the side ones fit in the holes but would not lock. I just used a little ele tape . if that's too low tech for you i guess you can splice in 97+ ends on th side turns.
92comanche4x4 Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 do you have a lift on it? it looks like the front sits higher than the back
rangrbob Posted April 14, 2008 Author Posted April 14, 2008 It is about 2 1/2 inches higher in front. When I bought the truck it had a SOA and 4" of spacers in front. I dropped it back down and left one spacer in front, and am having new spring packs built on Wednesday to level it out. I'm just trying to make a nice capable DD without going overboard.
Ford1 Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Mine same color but with red interior I like it, you just made me decide to carpet mine.
rangrbob Posted April 26, 2008 Author Posted April 26, 2008 Here are a few more shots after new rear springs and paint. Just a little more progress on my on going project. Flares, spray in bedliner, and a fresh 2.5l are next on the list.
