FxRacing282
well, check for leaks in EVERYTHING; gas brakes oil tranny trans differential. and rust are major. check all the u-joints and try to drive it to see how it is because you may find something wrong with it
Twisty
I'd say rust...but you're in GA. Just take a peek underneath to see if there's rust. Maybe it came from up north. If there is any significant rusting...walk away.
Eagle
Stay away from 1986 MJs with the GM 2.8L V6 engine. Seriously. You're WAY better off with the 4-cylinder than the 2.8L
chicofuentes0224
Well if that your cherokee in your avatar I'm sure you already know about any mechanical problems jeeps can have. Then if you have time, start at the latest tech thread and read backwards to the beginning of 2006. You'll find almost evrything that you need to look out for. Don't laugh, I'm being serious. I did it.
HOrnbrod
Spend a couple of bucks and CARFAX THE VIN! If it comes from north of the Mason Dixon, run away immediately.
Randy in Maine
I would say invest in having someone who knows something about cars check it out front to back and get it up on a lift to look on the underside. Have them check everything including the suspension, brakes, rust issues, and for oil leaks. Easily worth a couple of hours of the shop time. heffercow
yes that is my jeep, and sadly its time to retire her from her duties as a daily driver. but yes i know about most jeep issues and can look for that but i didnt know if there were any major comanche specific issues. but thatnks everyone for the info i will definitley keep it in mind as i am looking also i found this one on craigslist http://atlanta.craigslist.org/car/627121771.html its looks like it is in great condition overall clean but i just don't see it being worth $3300. what do you think would be a good offer to give to this guy? I'm not trying to low ball the dude or anything its just when all the other comanche i have seen are going for $800-1200 this one makes me scratch my head
Pete M
3300 is an awful lot for the 2.5L/4speed/2wd.
heffercow
ya thats what i said. so when i come to him i wanted to have a reasonable offer but who knows, this guys idea of reasonable probably isnt.
Wildman
I agree with Pete, that's way too much for a 2.5, 4 speed  2wd. It looks nice, nice NEW paint job, cause where's the side decals??? But what is the new paint hiding???? Unless the owner has gone thru the entire vehicle, like redone all the brake lines, and brakes, and replaced all the seals, in other words, "re-built" it, it's not worth that kind of $$$ I would say, Keep looking, you'll find one :D

carnuck
Geez! I'm selling an '86 longbox 2.5L TBI/5 speed/NP207, 3 inches of lift and 4.10 axles for only $2500!
heffercow
yes jeremy ive got your emails ive been calling folks but nothing yet... and as far as that kid with the whiteone, he is a douche. i told him i would give him 2200 which compared to everything i have seen everywhere else, and what kelley blue book says, is way more than i should and he told me and i quote "well i have seen others comanches go for 4000 so unless you have something to go with that 2200 like an old civic or something no deal" i was like WTF? i had to to everything i could to not send that guy one hell of a mean @$$ email. so i just sent him pictures and prices of every comanche in the area. then sent him links to kelly blue book, and told him that unless his engine bay is lined with gold and diamonds that he was never gonna get that, and good luck with the sale. some people just think their stuff is better and worth more just for the hell of it, whatever though, somewhere out there my comanche awaits, i will just have to wait longer i guess.
