gas cap won't budge

My 86 Comanche has been sittiing 5 or so years and it's time to resurrect it. My gas cap won't come off, it's like it's welded to the body. It has the original plastic cap. I tried to remove the little nuts around it but can only really get to one. Any suggestions would be appriciated. Unfortunately it has almost 3/4 of a tank of gas ... that should be complete garbage now.

Break the cap off and get a new one? 

 

And that gas is certainly bad. Our Comanche had been sitting for at least 5 years when we got it and the gas was orange and smelled quite bad. I still remember how quickly my oldest son moved when seeking relief from the mouthful he got when siphoning.

What would be the easiest way to break it off ? I'm afraid if I tried to pry it off it might mess up the threads on the tank spout. I guess being plastic the cap should break before hurting the threads.

Pressure may have built up inside the tank and up the fuel filler neck pressing on the cap. If you can remove a hose to the tank or the filler neck to relieve the pressure, that may help loosen the cap.

ultimately the threads and the spout are replaceable.
