thejeepmanwithcrocs
Just got my 3rd Comanche. This one as a daily to and from work while my lifted long bed gets a new roof at the body shop thanks to hurricane Helene. Anyway the turn signals were all rigged with weird ground wires and such and had no ground on my right side. And no power in my left side. Also while diagnosing I realized it had no brake lights. So the wire going to the stop lamp switch had corroded and came out the terminal. New terminal and now brake lights. I got new bulbs and sockets in the front. Now my left turn signals work fine front and back. My right side will illuminate front and back but no blinking. Is it safe to assume the switch might be bad? Pete M
if the lights get power when the switch is engaged, it feels to me like the switch would be fine. is there any change in behavior on either side if the headlights are switched on? how about if the brake pedal is depressed? thejeepmanwithcrocs
Negatory. It still does the same thing with the headlights on. Left side works properly and right side illuminates but does not blink.
Ωhm
As @Pete M mentioned above, odd that T/S will turn RH bulbs ON only without flashing. Do 4-way Hazard work? All 4 corners properly. Wonder if Turn Flasher is weak or just bad.
thejeepmanwithcrocs
Oh yes I forgot to mention that. Hazards do work. All 4 bulbs blink when the hazards are turned on. That’s what makes me believe it’s the switch. Sorry that was important forgot to include that.
Ωhm
Hazard Flasher works, still I wonder about the Turn Flasher. I'd replace Turn Flasher, before digging into the T/S SW. Flasher is easy enough. I know you said LH T/S work while the RH don't.
Pete M
yup, I would do a quick swap between the turn flasher and the hazard flasher to see what happens. probably not the issue, but easy enough to eliminate as a possibility.
thejeepmanwithcrocs
Okay I’ll give that a shot. The two flashers look different just in visual so I didn’t know they were the same. I pulled the turn flasher the other day just to check for corrosion or anything. Didn’t think about switching it with the hazard flasher. I’ll give that a shot and let ya know. Thank you so much! 😎🤟
thejeepmanwithcrocs
I now have turn signals! Thank you so much!! I have a parts truck they I took the turn signal flasher out of and put it in mine but it didn’t work at all so I put my old one back in. I should have pulled the hazard one and checked it but oh well it works now and very much appreciate your help!!! Yall rock!

If it is then i guess i gotta find the short first then maybe get a new block.

Check those wires first. 2 hours ago, thejeepmanwithcrocs said: i have a melted fuse in my block that's labeled park lamps is that the fuse for my taillights or would it be different? The park lamps and brake lamps should be on different fuses. It might be different if it is H.O. or Renix. This thread has a fuse box diagram for an '88. https://comancheclub.com/topic/49871-fuse-panel-help/?do=findComment&comment=709006
thejeepmanwithcrocs Posted yesterday at 09:04 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 09:04 PM heck yeah thanks i fixed the brake lights the other day. thats exactly what it was. wire broke out the connector. as far as the running lights i pulled off the tail light and where the wires go into the socket look burnt. ive go a parts truck that I'm gonna pull the tailights off of and see if i can fic that. then if that fixes my short ill cut the wires to the park lamp fuse and splice a new fuse socket for it that a guy at work gave me. i can't upload photos from my phone ill figure out how to get some on here.
