70barracuda
Anyone do a hydroboost conversion for the brakes? I'm looking into it and just seeing if anyone has done it and how it was/works.
derf
Planning it when I get to my Truggy build. I've been looking at Vanco for their kit to drive the brakes on my 1 ton axles. It uses a booster and master cylinder from a 1 ton pickup. And the PSC pump that will drive my ram assist will be set up to also drive that booster as well. Their kit is overkill for stock axles. There are some other options out there that use a smaller booster like one from a Chevy Astro van.
ghetdjc320
I did it, and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Best brakes I ever had. I did need to upgrade my pump and add a cooler to the system but the breaking was phenomenal. I went with Talon Hydraulics but this was several years ago. Hydratech also makes a model that works well. The Vanco units are some type of OE applications and not quite as nice as the Hydratech units. Get some nice AN lines and they look like a work of art under the hood. Much better looking and performance than vacuum boosters. I liked running them with just a slightly oversized Wilwood MC for the application to bring the pedal travel up a bit.

Thanks for the input, I'm gonna start to gather research and parts for this winter now.
Smokeyyank
Just piggy backing off this. I did a bunch of research lately as I'm going to run hydroboost on my WJ build. I'm going to DIY my setup. Vanoc is nice but $$$, few other places offer "universal kits" but still a pretty penny. I just picked up a Astro booster, and a rebuild kit for about $120. I will be using the astro stock master cylinder with it and brake prop valve for the rear. Went with the Astro because of simplicity and size. Smaller than the 2500 units and little easier to mount. Pressure wise doesn't put as much as the 2500 units but still way more than stock. I kept the Astro master cylinder for it as I didn't want to have to modify the pushrod for the corvette one to work. Plus I'm going to quickly lose space under the hood so any space saving will be a plus. Downside of the astro booster is plastic reservoir, they sit a little higher and line ports are on the opposite side, but I want to be able to swap a unit if needed with minimal modifications. I will also be running a fluid cooler and dual return reservoir along with the A/N fittings for the high pressure line. I have to account for my hyrdo fan but figure as long as I keep fluid cool pump should stay happy.
