derf
The upper was definitely loose. Torque spec on it is 100 ft-lbs. But the driver side is back together. I'm going to hook up the new brake line after I flush the old system.
derf
Passenger side done. Hubs are a greasy mess but at least they're back together.
derf
I got the power brake booster lined up. Good news is that it clears everything. Bad news is that I need a boot for the rod. The old manual brakes plugged the hole. That'll be here on Tuesday. If you don't know, vacuum boosters are too tall to fit in the stock location so AMC designed a bracket with a cantilever rod to lower the booster enough to fit under the hood. I also got most of the steering back together. The stabilizer will also be here Tuesday. Lots of little nit picky things to finish. I'm mostly done under the dash. Just have a handful of things to onock out. I may actually be able to fire it up next weekend.

Good to know. Where did you pick that up? Our CJ-7 is stock and has no booster, but it doesn't have upgraded brakes either.

I found a used power brake booster bracket off ebay instead. It moves the vacuum booster closer to the firewall so it clears the air cleaner. You will have to bend the brake lines because the master cylinder moves forward.

Hmm, probably put this off a while yet.

The brackets are like 3/16" steel so not terrible to fabricate but you need some heavy metal working tools. For $60 shipped, I decided to just buy them. derf
Not a lot of room but everything fits.
derf
Had a minor setback. The vacuum booster moves the master cylinder forward. I bent the lines going to the new cylinder and ended up breaking one of them. Ordered a set of replacement lines specifically for the power brake CJ. And a new proportioning valve while I was at it. I got the full line kit but opted to skip doing all of them. Getting the front to back line out is hard. So is the passenger side front. Anyway, got the new lines in and bled. Next step is to try to do a first fire tomorrow.
neohic
Sweet! So… when should we do some CJ stuff?
derf
I still have to run through emissions testing. But I'm down once that's done.
derf
The computer needed to self adjust a little and it settled into a pretty smooth running engine. But it's alive again!
