Has anyone dyed the plastic sleeve on the female seatbelt?

Recommended Posts

So, the nice weather is finally here and I'm starting some smaller projects on the MJ.

I recently acquired a bench seat passenger side female plastic sleeve (see picture below).

The issue is that it is in the factory color Sand and my interior is factory Charcoal from 1990.

Yes, I have looked, but cannot find a product that will effectively change the color of the plastic sleeve to Charcoal.

Can anyone recommend a product that works well? I'm not concerned with changing the color of the seatbelt itself because I'll just slide the plastic sleeve over my correctly colored seatbelt.

lastly, can anyone recommend a product that can help hold together the crack in the plastic? Doesn't have to look perfect, I just don't want it to continue to crack.

Thanks,

Rob

If you are looking for an adhesive, the Loctite brand plastic bonding adhesive is excellent, it is a super glue that has a separate primer, can be picked up at a home improvement store or possibly an auto store.

Another method that may be messier is the old school melt it back together with a soldering iron.
