Gojira94
Part # 27 - 52003939: I think this is used for manual trans applications but I'm not 100% sure. If so, how thick is it? I made one from 1/4" HDPE just in case.
Pete M
#27 in the image? the one that goes with the automatic?
89 MJ
I don't think that is for manual transmissions. When I pulled my AX-15 out of a 97 XJ, it didn't have that. My MJ has been probably 10,000 miles without one with no issue.

Yeah, the diagram seems to indicate it's for auto, but I filtered the lookup for ERH/DDQ/4WD and it shows in the list of applicable parts. That's why I'm asking, if anyone has a late 89-92 4.0/AX-15 or ever seen a rig that came with this spacer.

But you never know with older vehicles, people change out mounts and sometimes forget to put everything back. FWIW, if you have an AW4 and it's missing, 1/4" HDPE makes a pretty decent substitute if you don't have 1/4" mild steel plate handy.

The XJ was a 313k mile trail rig, so I can't guarantee that it hadn't been messed with either, but I would doubt that it was being that 2nd gear was out of it and it had stock gearing. I don't think it was messed with at all, just was abused. Now that I think about it more, my 90 MJ (that I forgot I owned at one point in my earlier post) had an AX-15 and definitely did not have the cushion. Granted again, it was a 238k mile truck, but seemed all stock to me.
Gojira94
This truck is a jigsaw puzzle with no box/ picture. And half the pieces were missing when I got it...

fiatslug87
My ‘90 does not have it and I’m the original owner, clutch replacement was done by me and I highly doubt I didn’t reinstall it.

BillsMJ
The spacer is .
BillsMJ
There wasn't a spacer between cross member and mount. There is a spacer between transmission and and trans mount. .

I can confirm the mount plate bolted to the bottom has that riser layer on mine as well. But I think that's just part of the mount plate itself. I did keep the spacer I made handy in case I want to install it due to trans cushion sag under the weight of the transfer case. It's a common complaint of the current aftermarket/ parts house trans mounts.
Flexj
Ive had like three ax15 XJs/MJs and never seen that spacer in place before... Not saying its for sure not supposed to be there, but it definitely looks like its for the auto in the diagram.

The new Anchor trans mount on my Comanche was so soft that the transmission would bounce around and pop out of 2nd gear off road. After the first trip, I replaced it with an OEM mount, (still available as of 18 MOS ago). That solved the problem.

Htchevyii
I tried the Stinky Fab "soft polyurethane" trans mount and MORE, bombproof engine mounts that use Clevite rubber control arm bushings. They rattled my teeth out! I think that it was mostly the engine mounts. https://www.stinkyfab.com/products/sfr-trail-proof-transmission-mount-jeep-xj-cherokee https://mountainoffroad.com/products/bomb-proof-motor-mount-kit-yj-tj-lj-xj?variant=14539007295599&country=US¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAA-B0w7YHgwve42zGOaOSAvSFsmXux&gclid=CjwKCAjwn6LABhBSEiwAsNJrjsVDPTT-EKkScGWh2SG3zyISvsKAsEs6DSk97DIa22RSUJKb07S-txoCPj4QAvD_BwE
Gojira94
Yep, you're right. I got confused. The StinkyFab are the ones I wanted, with the softer bushings.
