Top C Posted January 16, 2025 Posted January 16, 2025 The dash indicator broke. Is there an after market replacement or maybe a Ford/Chevy type that would work? Thanks
eaglescout526 Posted January 16, 2025 Posted January 16, 2025 One inside the cluster or on the column?
llhat Posted January 16, 2025 Posted January 16, 2025 watching my 89 is still connected, but the collar on the steering column is not connected to the housing for the lever, been that way a long time....

There should be a clip that attaches to the back side of that collar if it’s the one in the cluster. I have a loose indicator that I can snap a pic of later to show ya.
Pete M Posted January 17, 2025 Posted January 17, 2025 the tiny cable can indeed break, but it's far more likely that the clip came off.
Top C Posted January 17, 2025 Author Posted January 17, 2025 Ok I will check that today and hopefully that is what happend. It’s been gradually moving all the way to the left. I’m sorry I didn't mention that part.

It’s a little tricky getting your fingers in there without taking everything apart. I’ve had the best luck clipping it back on the collar wherever I can, and then pushing the clip with a flat head to adjust the position.
llhat Posted January 19, 2025 Posted January 19, 2025 anyone know what retains the collar inside of the column near the shifter?
