Recommended Posts

Ok so today i looked like an idiot i was at a kroger parking lot waiting for my mom to get done shoppin and i decided to flex a little bit. and there was ice and snow it was a snow bank about 2ft tall and there was a curb and a parking block thing. and i backed up the bank and the rearend sunk down in between the curb and the parking block and i go to pull forward and spun. and i new my 4wheel drive didnt work it needs a new axel shaft i think? i was diggen around the rear wheels with a shovel and after 20 mins of tryin to get out. and a guy in a xj with a 3in lift pulled on the curb and pushed me out and there was like 10 people standin around watchin! so i need to get my 4 wheel drive workin. but anyway i was wounderin if anyone had a axel shaft? they would sell me

Get some of these... Hell Creek Springs.

I used them with my 3.5" Rubicon Express kit and they are great. The guy making and selling them is a member on here too. His username is "Hellcreek".

Be careful using shackles for that much lift as they will change your pinion angle and can/will cause vibration issues as well as destroying your ujoints if used too long without making a pinion angle adjustment.

4.5 coils... plus new shocks, and a sway bar fix, and new control arms, and a new trac bar, and new brake lines, etc... Please don't get the impression that lifting an MJ only requires new springs.

If you're going to swap in a new front axle, nows the time to contemplate finding one with better gears to accommodate the bigger tires you'll eventually have. What rear axle do you have? Manual or auto trans? Do you know what gear ratio you have now? That front axle looks to have been swapped in.

Are you in Lincoln Park, MI? You could probably just swing by my house some day and we can poke around the truck to see what's up with it.

Ok the front on the backside of the axel said 30d so its a dana30 in the front and the rear id have to go look. but i tracked down a parts comanche for some other odds and ends i need but it only has a 4cyl but he also has cherokee front and rear axel he wasnt sure of the gear ratio so he was gonna call his friend he got them from also i have a 4.0 automatic and i am in lincoln park mi

Careful when eying a parts-truck. You'll want to take stock of what you're needing, what it has, and whether or not those items will work for you. I originally purchased my 86 as a parts-truck, only to realize later that very few parts actually swap to my 88. :( Thank goodness it has worked out fine as a "whole-truck" so far. :D Turned out to be far better for me to search out the individual parts I needed for my 88 and 90 projects. That way I could pick the best stuff rather than settling for what Jeep put in any one model.

I'm in Riverview if you want to swing by this weekend.
