Saw this 96 xj in the junkyard today and it had a leaf spring conversion kit. Just wondering, can anybody tell from the pics if that’s still a HP D30? Also what’s in the back, an 8.8?9401FA1B-222F-4285-9000-B9B6EB654993.jpeg.b53722105bbdc5fa43f72df52d47d8a5.jpegC984A165-9FFA-4B94-A769-F59502147D68.jpeg.832a8d3c1592600c5aba1570b65effb7.jpeg4958614F-FEBD-4205-A8D5-96A41816BF2E.jpeg.f9246e961c826c115e3f6698082fce20.jpegA1C02818-E186-4C21-B8F6-44D2499CFD73.jpeg.68c24c37e0f6027ed453042acf15ea77.jpeg1D47CB85-ADF4-40D7-85A0-2878B893DB7D.jpeg.51289a8095df0bb083d689300ccaccbe.jpeg

I’ve seen a couple that have had a YJ leaf setup put under the front. Not entirely certain why, but it’s a thing. Generally there’s a normal spring shackle at the front end though, rather than this slider setup at the back.

I think the stupid fad of using those slider boxes in the offroad world has finally passed.

Yeah I don’t have much to say about the slider setup. Seems unnecessarily complex and I don’t really see it constraining a steer axle enough for safe street use, but then I don’t think any front leaf setup actually does that so… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You do see sliders used for trailer leaf springs, but they’ve got teflon bushings and stuff that sit directly on the sliding springs, in a channel where the spring’s not going anywhere else. That pin in a slot thing looks like an accident waiting to happen.
