John Q's 1989 Jeep Comanche

My 1989 2wd 4.0l sport.  White with maroon/cordovan interior.  I purchased it back in 2014 with around 27,800 miles.

Step one was to remove the camper top, running boards, tow mirrors, bedside decals and swap out the rear sliding window for a solid window.  New rotors, brakes and a new gas tank.

My alternator died on me and left me stranded on a nice day with really good weather!

 

 

Got rid of the stupid indiot light cluster so I could actually watch my gauges.  This was fun having a column shifter.  Had to do some cutting on the tack gauge for the shift indicator.  

 

 

Dressed it up with a kit from Azzy Designs.

Damn. Looks like a good clean MJ. Hopefully you didn’t toss the running boards as they look like the factory accessory ones.

I didn't toss them, but I did sell them with one of my comanches a few years back.

Lifted her with JKS Accos, RE 4.5" springs upper and lower control arms, RE adjustable trackbar and bracket, and 3" AAL with JKS shackles.

Hating the 2wd.  I got stuck in my own back yard.  Had my daughter pull me out.

A little fender trimming. And installed my Rock Lizard bumper.

Thank you.  Those are 305/70/16 Nitto Mud Grapplers. I loved them but the dry rotted with only about 3000 miles on them.  I purchased them in 2013.  I still have them as rollers on my 1988 MJ.

97 header install.  Previously installed an open cooling system with factory bottle.  All new AC.

1997 TJ Dana 30 and Powerstop brakes installed.  Would like to swap it out to a HP axle one of these days.  

 

 

SOA with 3/4" U-bolt eliminators, MJ Dana 44 with RockCrusher diff cover, Cav Fab steering

Rolling on my Glandiator wheels and tires until I buy some new tires for my powder coated moabs.  

 

 

Dirtbound rock sliders and a bed cover from amazon.

Airaid intake.  I had to modify the intake tube to work.  I might upgrade to a cowl intake/snorkle some day.

Currently have 31,881 miles on the old girl.  I think my oil pressure switch is jacked up.  Need to test it out.

 

 

 I found a 4wd AW4 and transfercase for sale today on market place!  Hoping to get it this weekend if it looks alright.  Guy parted out his XJ after the motor blew.  1991 year. He wants $500 for it.

Currently has the No dash option!  Searching for a replacement, but I might try redoing mine.

Removed the surface rust from my roof.   

 

 

Painted it with some Rustoleum.

Installed some KilMat sound deadener.

Installed a new headliner from SMS.  Sun Visors are a little faded, but I have some material to have them redone someday.

I installed some Oracle taillights.  I like the look.  I left enough pig tails on the old plugs if I ever decide to go back.
