Tightening tow mirror

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, as the title states, is it possible to tighten the tow mirror arm?   The pieces that bolt yo the bracket inside the door. I have a couple I would like to put on my Comanche but bracket is a bit loose. Therefore the arm will move a bit when bolted to the door. If anyone has any idea how to tighten it or what to do I would appreciate it.

so I broke out the big red paperback (89 shop manual) and there isn't any word on the issue.  I'm guessing that the friction coefficient is set when new and that's it, they either get loose with time or freeze up with time. :(

@eaglescout526  anything in the computers that sheds light on this conundrum?

I’ll have to check the service library and see. And I’ll check my service bulletin books too. Didn’t think to try any of those. Whitaker and I spoke behind the scenes about this and I told him to see if anyone out there as run into this issue. Seems like not a lot of us have. But then again, how many MJs are on here with tow mirrors?

Anyone with this type of mirror, on the top part there are two indentations that look like a spanner wrench might go into it. I don’t know if mine are deep enough. Does anyone who has these mirrors have the same two indentations. I wonder if you could get a spanner on it and turn the round part. Thoughts?
