What would be the best value suspension kit for about 3-4" of lift? I have been looking at the rocky road suspensions, but I don't know from personal experience. Any recomendations welcome.

Depends if you want 3" or 4".

In the rear some people like add-a-leaves for 3" lift or a hair under. For 3" or a bit over, there's Hellcreek's 3" springs ($) or Rusty's 4" springs ($). If you're alright with more lift than that, 5-6" is moving the springs over the axle, which is cheap but requires a welder.

In the front, I have no opinions or comments, and same for a complete suspension kit. Pieced mine together, and everyone has different opinions on here of which kit to go with.

The Rubicon Express 3.5" kit is great. I got it and added the upper control arms and shocks to it all for about $650 8) . I used the add-a-leaf, but will be changing that out to the Hell Creek Suspensions 3" leafs this weekend ;) .

Thanks for all of the reccomendations, I have no experience with this. This is my first MJ so I'm just trying to see what's the best. I want this to be ok for a daily driver, but still have enough clearance for going off the beaten path.

So, the xj RE 3.5" lift would work for my comanche? I looked on the Hell Creek Suspensions and was wondering which springs to order. I couldn't figure out which ones would fit the MJ, it said fits same year trucks, but arent those the J-trucks? I'm just a little confused

XJ lifts work for MJ's only as far as FRONT SUSPENTIONS.

 

SO, if you go with the soft ride or super ride RE lift for the XJ. The ADD-A-LEAF that comes with it for the rear, will not give you the correct amount of lift. You'll need to get a MJ ADD-A-LEAF, shackles or both. Or best idea, complete new rear leaf springs.

 

J Trucks (FSJ's) are a total different animal.

alright, I'm thinking about buying some rusty's 4" leaf springs and 4.5" coils. After that I'm gonna need UCA's LCA's, longer shocks, trackbar, and what else, I'm having a brain fart... :redX:

I have been warned to stay FAR away from the Rusty's springs. There are at least two guys on here that have used them and been VERY disapointed because they sag terribly. I know both of them personally and have seen the one MJ that has them and it sits lower than mine with the Hell Creek 3" springs :eek: :roll:

you could easily get 4.5 with a spoa in the rear and some ford f150 coils up front with a 1 inch spacer. lots of people say the ford coils are rough but i liked them fine enough. and they were cheap!!

i have the Rustys leaf springs and they haven't sagged yet. they were on for about 6 months. I now am SOA because they just werent tall enough.

 

WOW, SOA with a 3 or 4" lifted spring!!! Thats tall!!! Care to give a measurement from the ground, straight up thru the center of the hub to the top if the bed? ;) What springs do you have, 3 or 4" of lift?

 

I also have the Rustys 4" SUA leafs. No sag, VERY suple and flex extreamly well. BUT they will not support alot of weight. I mean if yours is a work truck and you haul alot of weight frequently. You may not like these springs. I am not talking about once in a while stuff. I do that too and I'm fine with it. Just day in and day out, hauling alot of weight. I don't think they would be a good choice.

yeah, you'll need both uppers and lowers

 

as far as links, try to get some that are adjustable (just incase "inch-itis" hits.) and go with a flexy end and a solid end,

 

poly bushings at both ends isn't the flexy-est setup out there... rubicon express is always recommended

 

other stuff idk if you know you'll need will be brake lines and a trackbar.

ya, i knew i was going to need a trac bar and brake lines. I'm new to this stuff (only 15) and i'm doing it all on my own with my own money so I'm trying to do it right. My parents don't offer much support so i'm on my own with figuring out what to do. thanks for the information. I'm gonna post pics soon, whenever i can steal the camera for a while.
