Out_Foxed Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 While i was parking the other day while i was pushing the parking brake in the was a load snap, i thought nothing of it however the next time i drove it when i went to push the parking break in there was no resistance. I have checked and the cable snapped just after the petal and was not pulled back in to the body. After ordering a new cable i am wondering if anyone has any advice about this? it is a 1988 Comanche base model
jdog Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 Yep, get ready to pull the driver's seat and carpet, other then that soak every thing in pb blast or equivalent
fiatslug87 Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 It's been a while, but I remember it being a pain to get the old cable off the actuater. It is held in place with these tabs that I recall using a 13mm (?) socket to compress.
ghetdjc320 Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 Yep that’s right. If you fuse block is mounted there you will also need to remove it first. It’s time consuming for sure.
fiatslug87 Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 I didn’t remove the fuse block, but it was tight.

Out_Foxed Posted March 17, 2022 Author Posted March 17, 2022 so i can't get the rubber piece out that goes into the cab. i also am unable to remove the seat do to a bolt that will not budge(rusted and stripped) so feeding the cable will be fun if anyone has any suggestions that would be nice.
mjeff87 Posted March 17, 2022 Posted March 17, 2022 You pretty much have to pull the seat and the carpet/cargo mat. That cable snakes along the rocker panel area (take the trim piece off on the sill, then makes a left turn and feeds through a hole at the back of the cab. You *might* be able to pull a new cable blindly, if you tie a long wire to the bed-end of your old cable and pull it backwards through the cab. Use the wire to pull the new cable....if you can. (I used this trick to swap in a new hood release cable on my car...it snaked all through the engine bay and I wasn't about to spend a whole day unbolting everything it ran underneath to route it).
