I'd like to beef up the front of the Comanche, I'm sure this topic has been beat to death, but looking for something that will offer protection, recovery points if possible. Winch or not doesn't matter too much.

I really don't want to cut my fenders/flares.

So far I know of ARB and Tomken. Any others in production?

Also open to brush guards if they actually offer protection

What sort of protection? Are you looking to bounce off rocks, or just push shrubs out of the way? Anything for the front of an XJ will bolt on.

Mainly worried about deer, but I would also like recovery points option.

There's no shortage of options for XJs if you want to cut the fenders. I'd prefer to leave the truck bolt on.

The ARB fits without modification to the fenders, flares or front air dam. It doesn't have recovery points but it is possible to run OEM style tow hook brackets along with the ARB mounting brackets. You just need to drill out to the tow hook brackets to accept 1/2" hardware. The hooks remain accessible with the bumper mounted.

I believe Warrior Products also makes a bumper that will fit without fender cutting.  You can actually see the intact fender sticking out below the bumper in this photo:

They make a winch ready version with d-rings. The funny thing is that the winch version was like $800 a few years ago.  I just checked pricing, now it's as expensive as an ARB!

This has been my exact dilemma, I don't care to have a winch to stick out further then required, but I don't think ARB sells a bumper without the option.  I want deer protection as well and the only option is ARB afaik.  I guess the winch would tuck in behind the bumper anyway just leaving the solenoids sticking out of the top, it doesn't look bad without a winch, I just would get dogged without adding one.  With the needed gussets the bumper NEEDS to stick out that far to provide support in a collision, it's just an added bonus for the winch plate.
